Am I the only one who thinks of Code Geass (Lelouch) when I hear Azir talk? I mean, I realize their powers are completely different, but the way the talk, even their gestures... MY WILL IS LAW! Ya know? And yeah, chess.
Sounds pretty cool. I think the Bishop is probably the most appropriate piece for his soldiers given the way they slide across the terrain when he moves them. Rooks for the wall makes great sense too. I assume Azir would wear a crown to represent King (or Queen). When he slides himself to one of his soldiers he could say "Check".

That would be AWESOME! I even had the same idea when he came out. Although wouldn't it make more sense to have a wall of Pawns. Probably have his soldiers be knights.
All of these ideas are awesome! Azir would definitely be the King piece. His guards would be best as Bishops and his wall Rooks, totally agree. Now imagine a Chess Master Lissandra as the Queen piece, Chess Master Hecarim as a Knight piece, and Chess Master Teemo (or any yordle) as a Pawn? I may have gotten carried away but I thought I'd share :D
