Sona - The Instrumentalist

Hi everyone! Sona is my favourite champion and I think that the new changes that'll probably be coming in patch 6.14 are not going to do her justice as a champion. Her ultimate skin is just an example of how cool she can really be, but I feel her current iteration just falls off compared to my idea of what she could be. In my opinion, she deserves a Taric/Poppy scale rework and I would like to give out some ideas on the champion I like the most! Hopefully you'll like them!

Her lore: If there is something unexplained about Sona is her importance and backstory. We know she is an orphan, we know she plays an instrument and we know she became a very famous artist. We are given no explanation on many things though. Sona has strong connections between Demacia and Ionia that I think could make her have purpose on the world she lives if Riot would go deeper between her connections. We also are given no insights into why she became an orphan and why she seems to be powerful. Many champions from Ionia have spiritual/magical prowess, but Sona's is very peculiar. We all know she has musical powers, but she also seems to have mental ones such as telepathy and apparently telekinesis too (she floats and makes her instrument float as well). That's why I think "The Instrumentalist" is a much better title for her since she isn't only a musician, but also a psychic (Intru-mentalist... get it?)

Her kit: Her current kit has problems, but instead of tackling those, I'll just say that Sona has the potential to be a champion that completely changes how a game is played due to her theme. Auras are cool, but I think the her kit should play around sound instead of "auras" and "power chords". I don't know how, but I think she could be a unique champion in that sense. Enemies, allies and Sona herself playing around the sounds she is making. That's her core of her theme, but I don't think her current kit focuses on that. I think a major scale rework could pull out this, and if it did, it would be awesome! Other than that, I think her ability casts should also make you feel that you're playing an instrument instead of just button mashing to buff teammates.

Her looks: I love Sona's looks. You can instantly tell she is her by just looking at her. However, I think that updating them to make her more fluid, elegant and classy would help convey her personality even more. Her being floaty can tell you she is a psychic, but we need to get more the artist/celebrity vibes out of her!

Clossure: I'm no professional or anything, but I think Riot likes to hear out ideas from their players and I also think that it is in their best interest to make every single champion feel unique and fun! TLDR: Riot should rework Sona to a Taric/Poppy scale rework if they really want to get the most out of her. She has mysterious things going on her lore that are unexplained (why she's an orphan, her mental powers, her strong connection between Demacia and Ionia) that a rework would definitely help to give her purpose in Runeterra. Her kit also should, in my opinion, play more around sound instead of what it currently does to make her a more unique champion to play as she changes how a game is played on the Rift. Last but not least, her looks could receive some love to make her feel more as the elegant and classy artist she really is. Celebrity vibes are much needed for her!
