The Bloody Maid (Champion Concept, including spooky short story as Lore)
Hey guys, this is my first concept for a LoL champion. I used to write these for Smite but recently, I've been more involved with League and I had an idea for a champion based off of the legend of Bloody Mary.
Since in-universe, she's a folklorish figure whose name is long forgotten, I called her "the Bloody Maid". I wrote a little short story as her lore segment, but english isn't my native language so if it's clunky at times, I'm sorry. I want to improve at writing in english so it was good practice anyway. :)
Her role would be that of a jungling mage - she's essentially a character with two forms: one is more damage-oriented (her "Shattered Form") and the other is more focused on control and utility (her "Wholesome Form"). She has two ways of alternating between these forms: one is by using her ultimate, but unlike other stance-dancers, it has a long cooldown and isn't available before level 6. However, the second way is what makes her truly unique: as she has the powerful ability to quickly travel from one end of the map to the other, by using the magic mirrors that stand inside the river. When using this method to travel through the "Mirror World", the Bloody Maid is forced to take on her other form.

The Mirror World (Passive) Near both ends of the river, two magic mirrors appear that the Bloody Maid can use to travel between both ends of the map, by right-clicking the mirror while nearby and channelling for 3 seconds. Using the mirrors is interrupted when struck by any hostile activity. After travelling through the Mirror World, the Bloody Maid alternates between her Wholesome Form and her Shattered Form and also resets her non-ultimate cooldowns.

Wholesome Form: the Bloody Maid gains 600 bonus health [lvl 18] and her basic attacks apply stacks of Weight of Regret for 3 seconds, which reduce enemies’ AD and AP by 4% each, stacking up to 6 times. Upon reaching 6 stacks, Weight of Regret consumes itself to stun the enemy for 1.75 seconds. Enemies cannot gain a sixth stack of Weight of Regret for 12 seconds after it being consumed on them.

Shattered Form: the Bloody Maid gains 18% bonus attack speed and movement speed [lvl 18] and her basic attacks apply stacks of Glass Cuts for 3 seconds, which deal 5 (+3% AP) magic damage every second [lvl 18] and stack up to 6 times. Enemies that suffer from 6 stacks of Glass Cuts are slowed by 15%.
Wholesome: Sorrowful Wail (Q) The Bloody Maid wails in a cone, dealing 60/105/150/195/240 (+60% AP) magic damage to enemies in the area, rooting them for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds. Enemies hit by Sorrowful Wail also gain up to 2 stacks of Weight of Regret. If Sorrowful Wail causes Weight of Regret to consume itself, the root effect is applied when the stun wears off. Cooldown: 8 Cost: 50/60/70/80/90
Shattered: Splintering Shards (Q) The Bloody Maid projects 3 glass shards in a cone that deal 20/35/50/65/80 (+20% AP) magic damage to enemies they pass through. The Bloody Maid can reactivate Splintering Shards while the shards are still in the air to cause them to splinter in up to 3 smaller shards, which deal 33% of the original projectile’s damage. Enemies can be hit by up to any number of large and small shards, and every individual hit applies a stack of Glass Cuts. Cooldown: 8 Cost: 50/60/70/80/90
Wholesome: Aura of Despair (W) The Bloody Maid exudes an aura of despair for 4 seconds, dealing 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5% (+0.5% per 100 AP) of enemies’ maximum health as magic damage to nearby enemies every 0.5 seconds. Enemies in the area have their incoming healing and their damage dealt to the Bloody Maid reduced by 20/25/30/35/40%. Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 Cost: 75/80/85/90/95
Shattered: Aura of Pain (W) The Bloody Maid exudes an aura of pain for 4 seconds, dealing 10/15/20/25/30 (+10% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies every 0.5 seconds. Enemies in the area take 100% increased damage from Glass Cuts. The Bloody Maid heals herself for 20/25/30/35/40% of all damage she deals to large and epic monsters and champions in the area. Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 Cost: 75/80/85/90/95
Wholesome: Mirror Protection (E) The Bloody Maid causes a mirror-like enchantment to protect the target ally champion, increasing their magic resistance by 20/35/50/65/80 for 4 seconds and reflecting 15% (+3% per 100 AP) of the damage they take (pre-mitigation) back to the attacker. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
Shattered: Lover’s Embrace (E) The Bloody Maid lunges at the target enemy in a horrifying fashion, stopping at the first enemy encountered. The enemy takes 70/115/160/205/250 (+85% AP) magic damage as well as gaining a stack of Glass Cuts and is stunned for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds. If Lover's Embrace hits a large or epic monster or an enemy champion, the Bloody Maid gains an additional 15% (+3% per 100 AP) attack speed for 4 seconds. Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
Wholesome: Shatter Image (R) The Bloody Maid shatters herself, switching to her Shattered Form and resetting her other cooldowns. As she does so, a wave of glass bursts outward from her – dealing 150/250/350 (+100% AP) magic damage to nearby enemies and applying a stack of Glass Cuts to enemies hit as well as fearing them for 1 second. Shatter Image shares a cooldown with Restore Image. Cooldown: 110/85/60 Cost: 0
Shattered: Restore Image (R) The Bloody Maid restores her form, switching to her Wholesome Form and resetting her other cooldowns. By restoring herself she recuperates 15/25/35 (+5% per 100 AP) of her maximum health and applies up to 3 stacks of Weight of Regret to nearby enemies. Restore Image shares a cooldown with Shatter Image. Cooldown: 110/85/60 Cost: 0

“Eliza stood before the long mirror in her room, not knowing what to curse the most: her annoying older brother’s taunts or her own silly superstitions. Sure, she’d heard the tale of the tragic fate of the noble daughter and the curse she had left behind. But that was just an old wives’ tale, a silly game played by little girls at festivities. Nothing to be taken seriously, nothing to be… scared of. Not that Eliza was really scared, of course!
She was just… hesitant to soil the maid’s memory by participating in this silly game, that’s all. The curse was definitely make-belief, but what if the poor maid had actually lived, once upon a time?
As a fellow highborn girl, Eliza wondered what it must have been like: the maid who had been ruthlessly betrayed by the boy she loved. A stables’ boy, working for her family, who had filled her head with dreams of romance and adventure. He had promised her the world, and all she had to do was steal the family jewellery and come to the inn at the far end of town.
The maid had happily agreed.
When she arrived at the inn, there was no-one waiting for her. She asked the innkeeper, a stout bald man with beady eyes, if he had heard of a handsome young stables’ boy. The innkeeper replied with a grisly voice that the boy had prepared a room for her to wait, at the end of the hallway on the second floor. She went up the stairs, down the hallway, and pressed against the door, hoping to see her lover’s mischievous smile greet her. But all she saw was…
… a tall mirror in a small room.
He must be arriving shortly, thought the maid to herself. Facing the mirror, the girl removed the cloak she had been using to hide the expensive jewellery she was wearing. She smiled shily at the sight of herself in the mirror. “I look truly beautiful tonight,” she giggled gleefully. Then she saw the door swing open in the mirror’s reflection. She turned around joyfully, expecting to see her lover’s face. But instead she was looking at…
… three tall men, each of whom she recognized as a member of her family’s household. One of them grabbed her slender body, and before she could react, slammed her against the mirror, breaking the glass in a thousand little pieces. They then continued to push her down against the shards that were scattered across the floor, until her bones were broken and her soft skin was shredded by what used to be the mirror.
“Where is my love? Why won’t he save me?”
The young stables’ boy grinned to himself as he heard the stumbling and screaming on the floor above. He was still finishing his ale when his henchmen returned, their clothes bloodied and their foreheads covered in sweat.
“Wait here for me, as I fetch our prize,” he said with a cruel melody in his voice.
He entered the room. His accomplices sure had been thorough: the floor was covered in glass and blood. And what once had been the stupid, pretty noble girl he had tricked, now was a horrifying lump of cut-up meat, wrapped in shredded clothes.
“I’m sorry, my love, for this silly rhyme – but it looks like true love never arrives in time,” he said with a chuckle as he went about gathering the jewellery that was scattered among the shards of glass.
It was then, that he saw the maid’s body twitch. To his dismay, he saw her lacerated body rise again. Her destroyed face greeted him with a sad smile.
“My love, you came…”
“Stay back, abomination! We killed you!”
Now, after the mirror and her body, one final thing was broken: the maid’s heart.
As if it had a will of its own, the door behind the boy slammed closed. In a panic, the boy dropped the jewels he was still holding in his hands and grabbed the doorknob, but no matter how hard he pulled and shoved, the door would not open.
Then, the maid lunged at him, as if she were a snake. Her arms wrapped around his waist, as if in a loving embrace, impaling him with the shards of glass that were still protruding from her skin.
The boy screamed in pain as the maid dragged him to the mirror’s broken frame.
Somehow, no sound had reached the tall men’s ears, who were still waiting downstairs. As time passed, they grew suspicious: had the boy betrayed them, and made off with the loot by himself? They looked at each other, and wordlessly made their way up the stairs. When they opened the door, they were greeted by an unnatural sight: the maid’s corpse had disappeared and there were no traces of glass shards, blood… or the stables’ boy.
But the most unnerving part was the mirror they had broken less than twenty minutes ago, standing there in the middle of the room, unbroken.

That was the tale, or the version Eliza’s brother had told her anyway. Whenever her best friend narrated the story, it was the stables’ boy himself who had killed the maid. It seemed there were as many versions as there were tale-tellers, which further proved how silly it all was.
After gathering her resolve, Eliza closed her eyes and spoke aloud:
“I’m sorry, my love, for this silly rhyme – but it looks like true love never arrives in time.”
She opened her eyes again, and in the mirror she saw…
… herself, standing alone in her room.
Of course. Did she really expect something else?
She turned around to leave her room, reflecting on how her brother probably had never dared to do it himself. She would trick him, she would, claiming that she saw a pair of bloodshot eyes behind her in the mirror’s reflection after speaking the rhyme. As she grabbed the doorknob, she froze. She thought she’d heard something. She stayed still to listen carefully. Then she discovered the nature of the noise…
It was the sound of glass cracking.”_
