Lissandra R - Frozen Tomb Idea

I had this idea and I wanted to see what anyone else thought about it.

Lissandra's strengths in game rely on positioning and setup to utilize her to her fullest. She is able to kite and disable anyone who tries to get close to her, and has a unique escape/initiation in her E. She is also able to land a devastating ult that is able to turn any fight in her team's favor when Lissandra successfully plays to these strengths. Because of this, I propose a more interactive and rewarding ult for Lissandra to utilize.

NEW R - Frozen Tomb After a 0.5 second delay, Lissandra begins to create a frozen throne 1000 units away in a targeted direction. The throne builds itself over the next 1.5 seconds. Lissandra is free to act while the throne is building. After the throne is completed Lissandra or an enemy champion can touch the throne to destroy it. If Lissandra reaches the throne before an enemy, Lissandra will place herself in a stasis for 2.5 seconds while healing over the duration. Black ice will spread from Lissandra, dealing damage and stunning all enemies for 1.5 seconds. If an enemy reaches the throne before Lissandra, they will be stunned for 1.5 seconds. Black ice will spread from the target, dealing damage and slowing enemies while they stand in the area. If nobody touches the completed throne for 3 seconds, it will disappear.

NOTE: The tomb will prioritize Lissandra over an enemy if both are standing on the throne when it's finished building.

The basic premise of this ult is that it is now way more teamfight oriented. Because of the set distance and the delay, it will now be much harder to snipe enemies with the stun, but that's not really the goal with this change. Lissandra now has to race the enemy team to the throne in order to land the potential full team stun. However, if an enemy is willing to sacrifice themselves by throwing themselves onto the throne first, they will take the stun for their team and deny Lissandra her stasis and healing. A third option of CCing Lissandra to keep her away from the throne for 3 seconds is of course also a possibility.

As for the numbers I used; 1000 units is slightly less than the range of her E, and the 1.5 seconds it takes to build the throne is roughly the time it would take for her E to travel that distance if she cast her E right after starting the R. If Lissandra can't make it to the throne before it disappears after the 4.5 seconds from cast, then enemies have probably already moved away and the ult will have missed anyway. The rest of the numbers are what are used on Lissandra currently.

Admittedly, changing Lissandra's ult this way makes her much more vulnerable to assassins and divers now that she doesn't have access to her quick stasis/stun. However, I think that's honestly a healthy thing for Lissandra's kit. Her W and E are already fantastic at disengage, though if she has to use her E to escape she will have a much harder time initiating with her new ult until it comes back off cooldown. While she loses the instantaneous advantage she had before in 1v1's, Lissandra can still disengage or turn the fight if she (or the enemy) walks into a preemptively placed throne.

All around, my hope for this new ult if to make Lissandra a bit more interactive champion to play against while also giving Lissandra a more rewarding ultimate to land. I just hope the bonus range and potential team stun is enough compensation for removing Lissandra's current reactive variant.

It seems very interesting, it could be tweaked and improved however. Not sure how though, right now. It just feels like something is missing.

I like the idea! More interactive, but keeping the same ult

Now that I'm looking at it again, I think that if it didn't have the forced 1000 units away placement that the ability would be a little easier for her to work around. If she can build the throne right under her, she will still have the same impact in the fight as it still takes time to activate. But this way it opens up Lissandra to more options when using the ult.

  • She can place it the max distance away in order to E in for the fast and suprising ult.
  • She can place it a moderate distance away to try and cut off escaping enemies or run into it herself to stun them.
  • She can place it right under her to ward enemies away from her, or if it's in a fight she can start it, activate zhonya's, and then go right into the 2.5 second stasis as soon as she gets out of zhonya's for 4 seconds of untargetability.

My original thought was to make is placed far away so it really felt like it was a race to reach the throne. However, the 1.5 seconds it takes to build and the fact that no enemy is going to try to beat Lissandra to a poorly placed throne incentivises a more flexible range.
