Brand Rework Concept

I've been toying around with this idea of Brand in my head for a while, but with Riot looking to revamp these mages, I decided now would be the time to share my feedback.

I've always seen Brand's core idea as A. Using AoE to dominate fights and B. Comboing abilities the correct way for the purpose it is needed (I.E. saving Q to stun, or using e to spread Brand's passive, or using Q to proc other abilities or bring out huge amounts of damage).

I tried to keep that flavor while implementing this idea. Let me know what you think. :)

Passive: Blaze When Brand's abilities hit a target, they deal 7% of their maximum health as magic damage over 4 seconds, up to three stacks. When Blaze hits three stacks on an opponent, they are affected by True Blaze, dealing 9% of their maximum health as magic damage over 4 seconds, and enhancing abilities used on that opponent while affected. If another ability hits while an opponent is affected by True Blaze, the damage over time of True Blaze is reset. [One thing I want to note here because it might not be entirely clear is that if a player has 2 stacks of blaze on them and the third ability hits, the third ability would both proc True Blaze and do the True Blaze effect. So, a Q - W - E combo would proc the enhanced Blaze ability on the W and proc the enhanced True Blaze ability on the E if all 3 abilities hit.]

Q: Sear Cost: 50 Mana Range 1050 Brand launches a ball in a direction, dealing 60/100/140/180/220 (+55% Ability Power) damage and adding a stack of Blaze.

If an opponent had a stack of Blaze, they are stunned for 1 second and the Q continues until one of these 3 conditions are met: The ball hits another opponent, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+40% Ability Power) damage. If the opponent has Blaze, they are stunned for 1 second. If the opponent has True Blaze, they are stunned for 2 seconds. The ball moves 400 range past the opponent who was hit. The ball reaches 1050 range from Brand.

If an opponent has True Blaze, they are stunned for 2 seconds and the Q continues the full range range until one of these 2 conditions are met: The ball hits another opponent, dealing 40/60/80/100/120 (+40% Ability Power) and adding a stack of Blaze. If the opponent has Blaze, they are stunned for 1 second. If the opponent has True Blaze, they are stunned for 2 seconds. The ball reaches 1050 range from Brand.

[The Q can hit up to 2 targets! This gives Brand the chance to double stun or just get more damage and stacks of Blaze on. The damage on both the first and second target, however, needs to be lowered to compensate. It keeps the same counterplay of dodging, but now the stun isn't always punishing and needs a bit more of an ability commitment to fully use.]

W: Pillar of Flame Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 Mana Range: 625 After a short delay, Brand creates a pillar of fire in an area, dealing 75/120/165/210/255 (+60% Ability Power) damage and adding a stack of Blaze to enemies in that area.

If an opponent had a stack of Blaze, the pillar deals 10% additional damage and the target is slowed for .75 seconds.

If an opponent has True Blaze, the pillar deals 20% additional damage and the opponent is more heavily slowed for 1.5 seconds. [The W I kept nearly the same, because I think it's in line with the nature of his kit and keeps the counterplay of dodging. The only thing I changed is I removed a bit of Brand's raw damage reward and instead gave him a utility reward for using Blaze]

E: Conflagration Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 Mana Range: 625 Brand places fire on an opponent, dealing 40/70/100/130/160 (+30% Ability Power) and adding a stack of Blaze. After .5 seconds, Brand turns up the heat, quickly spreading 4 chunks of fire from the opponent on fire (forward, backward, left, right) dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+10% Ability Power) damage to the first opponent it hits. (250 range)

If an opponent had a stack of Blaze, 8 chunks of fire quickly spread from the opponent on fire after 1 second (Going out in the corners from the opponent as well as forward, backward, left, and right), dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+20% Ability Power) damage to the first opponent it hits and adding a stack of Blaze. (250 range)

If an opponent has True Blaze, a wave of fire quickly spreads from the opponent on fire after 1 second dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+20% Ability Power) damage to each opponent hit and adding a stack of Blaze. (250 range) [The E has a bit more to it now! Brand will now have a chance to always deal AoE damage with E, but since the opponent can predict the direction of the AoE it also adds a counter play component]

R Pyroclasm Cost: 100 Mana Range: 750 Brand takes part of his essence and sets a target ablaze, dealing 125/250/350 (+50% Ability Power) damage initially and adding a stack of Blaze. After 1 second of charging, brand unleashes wave of fire spreads around the opponent, dealing 75/200/275(+30% Ability Power) damage to the target with essence as well as opponents in an area (Equivalent to Pyroclasm's current max range of spread) and adding a stack of Blaze. The ability lasts 5 seconds.

If Pyroclasm's initial target becomes invalid, it selects a new enemy at no cost to its remaining bounces. If there are no other valid targets, Pyroclasm refunds 100 mana and resets its cooldown.

If the initial Pyroclasm target had a stack of Blaze, the cooldown to recast is .5 seconds

If the initial Pyroclasm target had True Blaze, the cooldown is instantly reset

Pyroclasm can be re-cast after 1 second and Brand's essence is moved to an opponent within an area (Equivalent to Pyroclasm's current max range of spread, though I couldn't find the information on that) dealing 125/250/350 (+50% Ability Power) damage and adding a stack of blaze. This reset's Brand's charge toward unleashing a wave. R can be re-cast up to 4 times.

If Pyroclasm's re-cast target becomes invalid, it returns to the previous target, refunding the re-cast but resetting Brand's wave charging.

If the opponent where the essence moves to has Blaze, the cooldown to recast is .5 seconds

If the opponent where the essence moves has True Blaze, the cooldown is instantly reset

Cooldown rates would stay about the same.

[The essence (pun intended) of this ability is that Brand can either reposition his ult and deal more single target damage during the ult, or he can hold it on a person to deal a lot of damage to clumped up enemies. I wanted to give Brand freedom to choose and move the ult at the right time, but also give opponents counterplay through the cooldown on the ult. I can also explain the ult a bit further if requested]

I'm not entirely sure on the numbers (They should probably be lowered a bit due to the additional AOE damage), but I think the mechanics themselves are in a decent spot to be interesting and give Brand a bit more on his kit. Let me know what you guys think.

Eh. I'v been a Brand main for a while. Some of the ideas you have here just make things much more complicated where there is no need to. Changing the passive like this is interesting but...much more confusing. His Q is far too long for a tooltip, but it would be interesting to be able to hit two opponents.

The issue with what you put with Q is the stun time. As we see right now with Swain, changing his snare to 1s and then increasing with level has really put him in a terrible spot. Making his Q stun only for 1s unless you have 3 stacks (2 stacks prior) would be very difficult and will get Brand easily killed early game as he would have to get damn close to get his E off. Unless that range was changed, that would ruin his ability to survive a gank or an all-in enemy (Zed, Fizz, LB). He is essentially the only mage that requires more than one spell to stun someone, why make it that much harder for him?

His W I like, no problems there

E. This one took a few times reading over to fully understand. Even still, it is difficult to visualize. So can not comment on this

Ult. Would really like more clarification if possible :)
