League of Legends Champion Concept

(UPDATES TO THE CONCEPT FOUND AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST)

Name: Maxus the Demacian Craven

Link Towards my Review For Valid Entry Into the CCOS Contest: Zoom!

**Author's Notes:**Hello guys and gals. Today, I'm uploading my first ever champion concept and I hope this is seriously on the right section. Haha.

So I had an idea for a possible future champion in the League of Legends world and wanted to see your thoughts. All of the information is below, and trust me it is a lot of information and if you don't have the time to read it, that's perfectly a-okay~

But for those of you who do read it, if you could leave some feedback on the champion concept and which let me know whether the abilities are broken, need fixing or are fine as they are. I will take each feedback to heart and try to respond to those I can.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read the post, the info's below. Thanks in advance~ [sg-kiko]

P.S. I might have left a few things out, I was extremely tired during the upload of this concept, so if something doesn't make sense in the lore or abilities, please let me know ASAP.

Champion Summary: Maxus is a Champion that is suppose to play extremely safe and farm up early game and aid his Jungler or allies with ganks into his lane by using his many early game initation abilities. He then turns into a powerful Tank late game that leads his team into fights himself instead of relying on others like he did so before. Standing up to the opposition head on like a true Hero. But what exactly makes someone a hero, and do heroes really exist? Maxus' belief on this subject is split into two after the discovery of a seemingly sentient weapon that took the life of both his Mother and Father. This weapon is known as Gier'Herz, a legendary blade that chooses it's host. However, exactly what is required of someone to wield this blade is unknown.

Statistics:

Classification: Tank (A Spicy Mix Between a Vanguard and a Warden)

Health: 565 - 1996.5

Health Regen: 6-15.5

Resource: Mana (298-1005)

Range: 150

Attack Damage: 60 - 139

Attack Speed: 0.615 (+0 - 48.9%)

Armor: 31-69

Magic Resist: 29-49.2

Movement Speed: 345

Abilities:

Passive: Hero’s Birth

Cooldowns: N/A

Everytime Maxus’ ultimate level is increased, he is able to transform one of his three main abilities unto a different skill more suited towards a hero.

However, each one of his abilities are only capable of being upgraded three times and the level is reset each time the passive is used. Also when Maxus reaches level 6, his ultimate is automatically upgraded and does not use an upgrade point.

Q-1: Staggering Arcane Influx

Target Range: 600

Cooldowns: 8.5/7.5/5

Cost: 98/103/114

Maximum Damage Scaling: 120/150/195 (+ 40% of Bonus AP)

Knockback Range: 175-210

Maxus hesitantly fires off an orb of light from his arcane infused blade which slows down all enemies by 30% within the orb’s landing range and deals 40 (increased by the amount of time this ability is charged up to a possible maximum of 120) magic damage, however Maxus is knocked back by a certain amount which is dependent on the amount of charge within his blade before it’s release.

Q-2: Heroic Arc of the Arcane

Target Range: 525

Sword Animation Range: 200

Cooldowns: 11/10/8.5

Cost: 145/165/200

Maximum Damage Scaling: 350/400/485 (+ 35% of Bonus AP)

"Sword Animation Damage is Locked at 200, and does not scale with AD items."

Passive: (Fearless Charge): Maxus’ Q cooldown is reduced by 1 second everytime he is hit by an enemy attack or ability.

Active: Maxus’ Staggering Arcane ability is transformed into a Heroic Arc of the Arcane, which transforms the ability’s area of effect range into one of a cone, making it much easier for Maxus to land it. It also slows down all enemies within its cone of effect by 35% and deals 190 to 350 AP damage depending on the amount of charge. Also any enemies within the sword’s animation range take an additional 200 Attack Damage and the slow is increased to 55%.

W-1: Coward’s Retreat

Cost: 120/130/145

Cooldown: 23/22/21

Passive: (Cowardice): Maxus gains 20 movement speed when moving away from enemies within a range of 450.

Active: Maxus gains 30 movement speed and dodges the first enemy ability that would’ve otherwise hit him, which will automatically dash him in the direction of the player’s mouse.

W-2: Hero’s Rush

Cost: 125/135/145

Cooldown: 16/14.5/12

Passive: (Audacity): Maxus gains 15 armor, 10 magic resist and 20 movement speed when moving towards enemies within a range of 475.

Active: Maxus gains 15 armor, 10 magic resist and 20 movement speed.

E-1: A Craven’s Cry

Cost: 115/120/130

Cooldown: 15/14/13

Maxus cries out in fear which allows his allies to move faster towards his location within a 500 range. If any enemies are near Maxus when he cries out for aid, they are unable to hear any in-game sounds for 3 seconds.

E-2: A Craven’s Resolve

Cost: 135/145/155

Cooldown: 13/11.5/9

Effect Range (Passive): 575

Effect Range (Active): 500

Passive (Joint Heroics): Maxus gains 30 armor and 20 magic resist when at least 3 allied champions are behind him. The champions behind him also gain 25 movement speed when moving towards him.

Active: Maxus cries out not in fear, but with resolve and determination which then inspires he himself which allows him to gain 20 movement speed and 10 armor and 5 magic resist, however his three closest allies gain a passive shield that grants 5 armor and magic resist and absorbs 150 damage.

R: Realization

Passive Regeneration Time: 15/12/8

Cost: 135/155/195

Cooldown: 95/85/70

Passive (Hero’s Will): Everytime Maxus’ ultimate is upgraded, his appearance begins to change more into the hero he’s always dreamt of becoming, granting him a passive shield that starts off by absorbing only 50 damage, but is increased by 150% each time his ultimate is upgraded. The shield regenerates overtime while not in combat.

Active I (Arcanic Chase): The eye at the center of Maxus’ Arcane Blade finally opens, granting Maxus 40 movement speed when moving towards enemies but reducing Maxus’ armor and magic resist by 50%.

Active II (Arcanic Apprehension): Can only be activated when in a 275 range of an enemy champion. The eye at the center of Maxus’ blade releases a bright, yellow aura from it’s pupil, grabbing hold of the targeted enemy champion and pulling them straight towards Maxus’ current location while knocking every champion in the way aside. Maxus’ armor and magic resist are returned back to normal and the target is engulfed in Arcane Aura for 2.5 seconds.

If Maxus uses his Heroic Arc of the Arcane on the enemy target while the they’re engulfed in Arcane Aura, it’ll do true damage (including the sword's animation damage) plus 2% of their maximum health and stun them for 1.75 seconds.

Poppy: I’m no hero, just another failure…

Ekko: I wish I could go back in time and change my past. Those memories… they’re… unbearable.

Warwick: Such fur-acity. Get it? Fur… racity? Crap, I think I just made it even angier.

Miss Fortune: You pirates are no better than barbarians! Stop acting so high and mighty with your Bilgewater bullcrap!

Ryze: Such arcanic energy… just who are you?

Taunts (After R is Maxed Out)

Gangplank: Gold eh? My grandmother always told me to stay away from gold diggers, it’s a crime before nature.

Poppy: You’re looking for a hero huh? There are no true heroes in this world… only infamous villains.

Garen: You say that you seek justice… but in reality you seek pittance.

Darius: You remind me a bit of my father, strong, wise… and ugly.

Yasuo: You have failed your people, your elder… and your brother, and now you seek truth within a world of lies… truly heroic.

Riven: I see that your blade is broken… must be a metaphor for what lies inside… and what’s to arrive.

Syndra: You effortlessly seek power to quench something you lack within… a heart.

Zoe: I knew a guy who got locked up in a Demacian prison once because of someone like you… don’t really want to get into it.

Evelynn: You hide within a mist of darkness similar to I… except I took a step forward, while you took a step back.

Draven: Wow, I’ve never seen a more egotistic, barbaric and unattractive, attention seeking buffon… wait, scratch that.

Gnar: What is this feeling… have we met somewhere before?

Jhin: Making art out of killings? Not much different than what most so-called “heroes” do.

Zed: Some things are forbidden for a reason, Zed. It’s what keeps the world in balance… and you just happened to break that.

Twitch: What the heck is that smell!? Oh, it’s just another level one rat. Should be quick.

Ahri: Wow… you’re actually quite the looker. Easy on the eyes… yet, I won’t fall for your charming lies.

Sivir: Breaking away from your destiny is a grievous sin… but I guess that’s what makes you and I so similar.

Sona: Such wonderful twin melodies.~

Illaoi: I’ve seen enough demacai to know where this is going.

Taric: You bask in the crystal’s glow… yet you forget what it reflects.

Rengar: You seek revenge for something you caused. A pointless hunt and a pointless flaunt.

Teemo: Sometimes it’s the little guys that are the most dangerous. I get that feeling from you for some reason.

Amumu: They say that tears can ease your sorrow, Amumu… but that’s just another blanket of lies society has spewed. It only brings more sorrow.

Warwick: Eh, I’m more of a cat person.

Jax: Such power from such a pitiful weapon… just who are you? Jinx: Crazy girls, man. They’ll take your wallet then blow you up… guess it’s better than a demacian prison though.

Kayn: Will you give up to what lies within, or fight against it in an eternal struggle? I ask myself that question everyday…

Rakan: Protecting that girl no matter how badly she treats you. You’re a genuine knight, aren’t you? ...cladded in white.

Xayah: Not interested, birds aren’t really my type.

Leona: The hero of the sun? More like the hero that protects a blinding element.

Caitlyn: No ulterior motive for what you do, huh? If only there were more people like you…

Trundle: Shouldn’t you be under a bridge? Also, hiding behind frozen glass won’t protect you from me, you know?

Ivern: I feel very, very… VERRYYYY uncomfortable around you.

Vladimir: A wannabe vampire, taking the blood from the one person you envied… a heartless wannabe.

Gragas: That… doesn’t look healthy.

Nunu: The slow snowball of death approaches.

Bard: Yeah, I know right?

Viktor: You’re a literal genius, yet instead of serving the greater good you serve oneself… such bigotry.

Lore:

You wanna hear a story, eh? Well, fine… I guess it’s the least I can do for a so called “hero” like you. But know this, I don’t repay my debts.

“That’s fine with me.” The man said to me while drinking an unknown type of booze from a wooden flask he had kept underneath his blue, lengthy scarf. “Also, keep the “hero” thing to a minimal, I’m no hero… that’s for sure.” The man responded while looking towards the direction of his sheathed blade against the wooden pole that also hovered above us. “Well, whatever. I guess it’s the least I can do for you. Well, here’s the tale.”

My whole life, I have pondered what it would be like to be a hero. Like the famous Garen and the reputable Jarvan IV. These people were my role models… role models to a coward like me. I used to be a nobody… just another citizen, hanging onto the success of our soldiers in the war against Noxus. I was… a coward, a craven. I clinged onto whatever would protect me, without even questioning exactly what our people were fighting for. I didn’t care, I was young… and stupid. I thought that this war would benefit us, but all it has caused is more conflict. Our so called “Heroic Figures” with their own ideals on how society should be ran. With so called “order”, “willpower” and the useless essence of “kindness.” Heh… pitiful. That was, of course, until the day both my mother and father died.

I was raised as a farm boy, pulling up crops and managing the livestock day by day… it was a boring, yet hard working and peaceful life… but also isolating. Not many visitors came by our farm, and my family didn’t really have the means of granting me an education due to the low profits coming in. Demacian education is costly… horrifically so. So of course I was completely ignorant and listened to everything my parents had told to me without even a second thought. And I know I shouldn’t be speaking illy about them… but now that I think about it, they were some of the bigoted individuals I had ever seen, and they’re part of the reason why I had ended up this way. So should I thank them and take this as a blessing, or a curse? Whatever… I’ll get to that in a minute. You want to know about the weapon, correct?

“Not really, I’m just too lazy to get up right now so I’m kinda forced to listen to your oh so “sad” tale or whatever. So take all the time in the world kid, it ain’t gonna’ make me move any faster.” I felt irritated and insulted at the same time. This drunkard dares to mock my putrid tale!? How dare he?! ...But honestly, no one else is willing to listen, since me and him are both considered outlaws, and his skill with the blade is seemingly exceptional, almost abnormally so… but I could say the same, haha. I guess me and him do have a lot more in common than I originally surmised. Well, anyway. “Hmph, continuing…”

Well, my parents were involved in it’s discovery as well. One day, I was working in the fields, doing what I usually did… then suddenly I stumbled across a hole in the ground. That hole wasn’t there the day before, so I was curious… but also scared. I wanted to check what lied in that hole, and maybe if I did… they’d still be alive today. So in hopes of avoiding another beating from my father, I ran to him telling him about what I had found.

“Getting beat is a common form of punishment kid, it disciplines the mind and body.” “I don’t want to be lectured by some drunken scuttle.” “Ha, coming from a small fry, wannabe “Dark Hero.” Give me a break kid, you have no idea how the world works.” “Well, it definitely doesn’t work around us.” “Good point, so let’s agree to disagree and drop the subject, okay?” The man says while taking another sip from his wooden flask. “Fine, as I was saying…”

He originally brushed it off and told me to ignore it, but I was afraid. I was too scared to head back into the fields. Anytime something unordinary happened, I would’ve been unable to work for the whole day or until the core issue was resolved. So, my Father getting annoyed at my fearful gittering slapped me aside my head and headed towards the location of the hole in the fields. My Mother was also curious, glaring at me with disgust she followed my Father into the fields. I followed far behind, making sure not to get to close. My Father kneeled down and began digging in the dirt… eventually stumbling upon a blade created out of pure gold. He held it in his hand, admiring it’s glossing texture. He then passed the blade over to the Mother, who then admired it herself. Then they both admired the blade together, almost as if hypnotized by the blade… but then eventually I figured out why. What I saw in their eyes wasn’t love or envy… it was greed.

“Ah… greed. Exactly the same thing that befell me many days before. I know that feeling well.” I glare at him to signal him to let me finish. “Alright, fine fine. Go ahead.” I take a deep breath and continue.

They were happy that they had found something to bring profit back into our household. They were both dancing and glaring at the object in excitement. I felt sort of happy too, but also… an uneasy feeling began to unveil from within my soul. The feeling of the greatest of all fears… despair. Then all of a sudden, a bright light began to admit from the blade’s hilt. Grabbing the necks of both my Mother and Father. Slamming them and thrashing them about as if they were mere puppets. My Father, managing to kick the blade was the first to succumb. The light around his neck deformed and reformed into some sort of claw, instantly snapping the neck of my Father… it was a horrific sight to say the least. My Mother’s death wasn’t much better, the light pierced her heart with extremely accurate precision, almost as if it could see their vital organs.

“Ah… so the blade was sentient?” I nod to confirm his response. “Yes, indeed.” I point towards the blade at my right side. “This is the very same blade that took the life of both my Mother and Father.” “So why do you carry it with you?” I sigh and my face falls upon the table. “...As a memento of my despair and hatred of Demacia… and as a punishment onto myself to remind me of my many fears and the many crimes I had commited ever since that fateful day.” I look back up, only to discover the man in the chair with widen eyes, either in astonishment or fear… I don’t know. I can’t tell you exactly the emotions he was feeling at that very moment… but it felt intense, almost as if he knew the feeling I had. “Nothing to say, bigshot?” The man’s eyes calm, and he look towards his blade again. Yet, this time with saddened eyes. “Continue your story kid. You’ve got me interested.” I nod.

I tried to run in fear. I was terrified at scaring scene I had just witnessed. But… my legs just couldn’t move. I didn’t have the will to move on my own, I always had listened to what others in power would tell me to do, so I didn’t exactly know how to move on my own two feet. Almost as if I were a baby just being spawned into the world anew… yet this time it was from the wilt of light, not the coffin of darkness. But if this were light, I’d say this is the darkest light to ever exist. But anyway, at that moment… the blade took notice me and began to float over towards me on a cloud of light. That’s when I noticed the eye at it’s hilt. The eye was staring at me, almost as if it were examining something within me, but then suddenly it simply dropped right in front of me. The eye closed and it’s claws dispersed. I didn’t know what the heck to think at the time. I had just witnessed the death of my Mother and Father, and now that very same blade had just dropped in front of me. I thought to myself if I were to touch the blade, would I befall the same fate? And with that final thought, I did the unthinkable. I reached out towards the blade, finally moving my own two feet for the first time without something hovering over me. I grasped the blade in my hand and then all of a sudden the same eye opened, veiling me in it’s light. I thought it were going to strangle me or pierce my heart like it did to my deceased parents… but it didn’t. The eye eventually closed, and the light dispersed once more. I felt… different. I felt… so light and agile, and strong!

I ran over towards my deceased parents, only to notice their bodies covered in some sort of bright, yellow aura. The light eventually dissipated, leaving the bodies of my Mother and Father to the harsh elements. I wanted to bury them I really did! But… something inside me told me to leave. Something… was guiding me towards something. And then I ran into you fighting a pack of bandits, haha.

“All the way in Ionia? Do you know how far away that is from Demacia?!” “You’d be surprised at the techniques I picked up from this blade. It gave me seemingly infinite stamina and made everything feel so… light weight.” The man then begins to laugh hysterically. “Hahahahaha! I know the feeling. Like as a feather, right?” “Haha, yeah. But why did that get you laughing so hard?” “Oh, it’s nothing kid.” I’m curious, just what was so funny in my last trade of words? “Tell me, I’m interested.” “You just helped me realize something kid. I have a path I’m suppose to be on, to bring a person I had failed true peace… and that can only be achieved by bringing his true killer to justice. And here I am drinking at some random inn, I’m so pitiful and lazy.” The smile on his face turns into a sour frown. The man gets up from the table and grabs his blade. “We all have goals in life, but don’t let that blind you from your responsibilities, kid. Don’t make the same mistakes I did when I was your age. Fly like the wind, but never lose track of the sun. Only then, will find your answers.”

I get up from the table myself. “You fight with your right hand, and I fight with my left. Meaning that I’m left handed and you’re right handed, right?” “And what’s the meaning behind this course?” A smug grin grows upon my face an I look towards him with soulless eyes. “The sun blinds us from the truth. The truth is something many can’t handle, that is why Demacia exists. As a shield from what truly lies within the darkness beneath. The darkness easily corrupts… and I have to admit, Demacia is a really good shield from that truth. But Noxus has been corrupted by that darkness. They have never been shielded from it, but have instead embraced it like a loving hug. But this has made them delusional and heartless in their endeavors. They are the sword… with no other purpose but destruction. As my Mother was seemingly my Shield, my Father was my bashful Sword. And with this knowledge, I will delve into the darkness, but never become corrupted by it. I will discover the truth, but what that truth is… is still a mystery to me. Wherever this blade guides me to true salvation or true despair, I can promise you I will be ready… and I never break my promises.”

The man looks at me, shocked by what I had spoken. “Two wrongs don’t make a right you know?” He says, I respond. “This world is built on good and evil, darkness and light, sword and shield. If both of those are wrong, then our whole existence is wrong.” The man grins. “So young, I don’t even think you realize it.” The man walks out the door, and I scream out to him. “I didn’t realize what?!” Before the man closes the door, he says three more sentences that send shivers down my spine. “You have already been corrupted by the darkest light. Your story was already over as soon as it began. Your greed was greater than all, that is why you were chosen and that is why you will have the greatest fall.” And with those fleeting words the man heads out into the mist, seemingly never to be seen again.

I sit back at the table and take out my blade. I look it over from front to back, examining the eye at the hilt’s center specifically. Maybe… he’s right. Maybe the reason that the blade didn’t kill me day wasn’t because of my parent’s greed or being chosen by some legacy. No, maybe it was to show me true despair, where my greed for knowledge will take me… and where it will end me.

“Oh, how I envy both the Sword and the Shield. Yet, greed hides behind every veil.” - Maxus the Demacian Craven

End Notes: I worked really hard on all of this and was wondering if you guys thought this would be a great champion concept with the added lore and abilities. Don't hold back on the feedback, I want to improve this as much as possible and if I decide to make another concept, I'll have some feedback to boot.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read all of this for those who did! [sg-ahri-2]

Update Log (2/26/2018):

Buffed the cooldown on Maxus' Q-1, making it 8.5/7.5/5 instead of it's original value of 11.5/10.5/9.5 to allow Maxus to poke more in his lane due to his bad early game.

Nerfed the range of Maxus' Q-1 range, making it 600 instead of 620.

Buffed Maxus' W-1 cooldown to 18/16/14 from 21/20/18.

Buffed Maxus' W-2 cooldown to 16/14.5/12 from 21/20/18.

Buffed Maxus' E-1 cooldown to 15/14/13 from 16/15/14.

Buffed Maxus' E-2 cooldown to 13/11.5/9 from 14/12.5/11

Added a cooldown amount to Maxus' R. The cooldown value is: 95/85/70 (No Idea How I Forgot This xD).

End Notes: I can't believe I forgot to even add a cooldown to Maxus' ultimate ability. My bad on that. Also I noticed that many of the cooldowns were way too high so I decided to tone most of them down a bit.

Thank you for checking out this update for those who did. I also plan I added more to this champion if I feel that something is off or needed. But I won't amend him too much due to the CCOS Guidelines and in order to keep Maxus the way he is.

I love the idea of a "zero to hero" champion. It reminds of me of the journey Hercules partakes in the Disney adaptation. The lore is pretty thorough, you definitely took the time to come up with it all. The only downfall is that this idea almost forces you to play passive early game. It can also put a giant target on your back, seeing as how you want to have the enemy team almost forget about you until you come late game and ravage them. The w ability definitely has some "game-breaking" sense to it, with the ability to deafen your opponents. I could see Maxus as a late-game scaling top laner, or a passive aggressive support.

P.S. For your first ever champion concept, wonderful job. Keep it up and I truly believe one of your ideas will make it. I've never done a concept myself either, so if and when I do, hopefully it's as good as a start as this.

I totally love the idea! And the lore wauw, you really put some time into that. I really love it, it has a great story to it. I love the whole "coward" and then "Heroic" thought behind the champ. I definitely think this champion can work. It has a very high potential but I believe that it's a difficult champ to play with and master. It will take a lot of skill to play this champ, but challenge accepted. Finally, a champ who actually takes skill to play with.

You did a very good job!!! And I hope this concept will win <3

Reminds me a lot of Donnel from FE Awakening. Great job!

well, it seems it could work, the lore was kinda interesting but he is a bit to edgy for my taste. The abilities could aslo work to some extent. It seems though as you wanted to make an edgyer Yasou or Kayn , the personality could work but please tune down the edge a little bit. it was intersting though how he starts really cowardly and then become more and more, "Heroic". the consept is really nice. good job.

Interesting read for sure. Keep up the creativity. :)

Updated some cooldowns and added a cooldown to Maxus' R. Had no idea it didn't even have a cooldown. xD

More detailed information can be found in the update log at the bottom of the champion concept.
