Congratulations on Rek'Sai Beat Punchbeef!!

Here begins my story, all I ask is that you read, read with the open mind of a creator. Someone who lays in bed awake until 4 am, unable to sleep because a single idea popped into their head. Like some sort of addiction, you have no control, a solitary thought has spiraled out of control, whole worlds have been created in the blink of an eye. Someone who just wants to be heard and show the world they have a purpose, they know if someone would just listen... they could change the world. We don't expect compensation, we just want to make a difference, that is the goal of a creator.

A fin emerged from the sand causing destruction in its wake, my heart began to flutter. A creature surges from the sands, as if I was the boy on that camel, a fear came over my body, shooting adrenaline throughout my soul. A gleam of wonder in my eyes, I had accepted what was to come, I knew my fate. I also knew something no one else seemed to know, as the sands began to tremor beneath my feet I knew; This was my creation.

The date was November 24th, I logged onto League and noticed a new cinematic. I immediately began watching intently looking for clues as to what new champion this trailer was introducing, because I enjoy trying to find new things before they are released. I watched in disbelief, it was happening! After 2 years of work and improvement, it was finally happening! they were releasing the champion that I had created years ago Dredger, Master of the Earth

Let me take you back 2 years.

I was still in college, and recently new to the league scene. This is when my creation was little more than a thought in my head. My idea begain to take shape, I still have the piece of receipt tape I used to write down my ideas while I was at work. I got home, created a word document and talked to my friend about my idea, there were things to change but in a week I was ready, I sent an email to RIOT about my underground champion Idea. It wasn't long before I recieved this email regarding Dredger, my champion concept.

Thanks for getting back to me with this concept! I really like the idea of a champion like this, especially the underground movement and the "Super Snooper" idea were you can see the scent trail to hunt down hiding champions. This concept is well thought out.

I will pass this up and I hope it gets some attention as this is one of the most unique champion concepts I have heard. I would also post on the champion concept forums as I can honestly say the design team tends to look here more often. Hopefully you can get some artwork together to post along with the concept so they can get a visual. I'm thinking he would almost look like Rammus, but with mole-like features.

Even just getting that email 2 years ago made me excited, I thought how amazing it was that RIOT as a company would take time to respond to me and possibly make something from my dreams and imagination come to life (computer generated life anyway).

So I created a post with my idea, I didn't have artwork yet, but I knew this idea would get lots a whole lot of attention, this idea was amazing. I was wrong my idea got hardly any views and very few comments. I was discouraged, but I knew maybe some tweeks and artwork would do the trick, I created the post Dredger, Master of the Earth (now with more Lore and Concept art!)

While I made changes to my idea based on comments from the forums, I stuck to my overall theme of the underground. Many people commented how cool of an idea, but the idea of programming that was super hard. I got up every morning before class and bumped up this idea so it would get more and more attention, dreaming of that red comment. It never came, my idea had 1000s of views but no red, by the end of the old forums my idea, something I poured my heart into to create, had 14000 views and 40 likes. I was extremely happy, yes I wanted my champion to exist but there are so many good ideas on these forums I knew RIOT could not possibly create all of these gold mine creations and skins, I was at peace. occasionally bumping up the idea, but I left that idea creating 6 or 7 more champion ideas and just as many skin concepts like Rorcshaco (great ultimate skin idea!) and Pinball Wizard Ziggs (part of the arcade series) I never created any of these ideas with the intent of gaining fame or fortune I did these because that is part of being a creator, If only I could draw.

Back to Present Day. {{summoner:10}}

As I watched the cinematic and the champion reveal I was so happy! my friends messaged me saying it reminded them of Dredger, and in the back of my mind I knew while it wasn't a mole (good choice by the way!) My idea had I thought inspired this champion. As I was reading the champion reveal and watching the abilities, it became more apparent this was Dredger, my creation finally after 2 years had come to life, I was overjoyed.

I got to the Champion Insight portion of the reveal, hoping I'd see my summoner name some where, thanking me for inspiration. There was nothing there. My happiness turned into sadness, I really thought I was part of this. Then I kept going back to Rek'Sai and then looking at Dredger and my basic concept. I noticed 3 out of the 4 abilities were while slightly different more or less the same. The underground skill shot, while not rooting at the end was the same. The limited vision from my original design sent to RIOT was the same. Even the ultimate shooting beneath the earth was pretty much the same, besides taken an enemy underground. My sadness turned to slight anger.

This part of the story ^^ I know will get me negative comments but just wait until the end to make your comments. I waited this long because I did't want to rush to quick judgment or say something I would regret. I don't want to take anything away from Punchbeef, that was not the intention of the post, i'd like to thank him for making one of my dreams come true. T

Rek'Sai created by our friend Beef Puncher. Is an amazing champion and nothing should be taken away from his creation! There are many differences in our ideas, for one the void creature is so much cooler than a mole! he also has a different passive and the underground tunnels. I also like that they gave him above and underground abilities, wonderful idea. As I stated before I was angry even a little jealous, as the days passed I realized punchbeef followed his dreams and now works for RIOT, and a game i have dedicated way too much time too! I had chances to apply for jobs at RIOT but my degree has nothing to do with video games. I made excuses, Punchbeef didn't and he or she made it happen working for RIOT and so made Rek'Sai happen with or without help from me. I am not angry, if anything I am excited because my idea, my creation to whatever effect, is coming to life! I have a chance to do something I enjoy and if only in my head and my friends heads, when they play this champion we will think how amazing it is that we had a part in this.

So why did I write this entire wall of text?! most of you think, I think I am entitled to compensation. While it would be awesome, I know I don't work for RIOT, it ain't happening. I do not believe I am entitled to anything. Some of you think Kilar, you are an idiot people can have the same ideas, and Dredger had no impact on Rek'Sai, and you may be correct. It is entirely possible this was the complete idea of Beat Punchbeef, but I honestly believe that my idea had some influence on this RIOT employee and that makes me feel good even if its not true. I am writing this for my fellow creators.

My main point of this story is to tell you never to stop dreaming. This forum is a place for all of us to release our creativity! RIOT may or may not see our ideas on here, but they are a company that like any other is about making money, but they also listen. They constantly give us free downloadable content in the form of patches and new champions! They have created a way for us to escape from our realities, they introduced us to their world or Runeterra where the idea of becoming a Hero makes us feel important if only for 30 minutes we feel as if we can change the world. Side note Construction Worker and Ballerina Rek'Sai would both be pretty cool in game!

As for my fellow creators, never stop dreaming of a red comment. Realize though, that you don't need it, your ideas don't need validation. Your ideas are great, and with a little imagination and hardwork you can make them come to fruition, even if that means creating your own world in whatever medium you can, from books, video games and even movies. Make a difference for the better in this world, become a creator, a teacher, a friend

I got a little preachy here at the end but I truly believe we all have a purpose, and everyone can make an impact now matter how small or insignificant it seems. Thank you RIOT and Punchbeef, Rek'Sai looks amazing and I for one will be buying him the day he is released. Thank you for letting us escape from our world, into yours.
