Lore

Rowen Stone Audio Log, day 27, entry 6

Today concludes our month-long investigation of the long abandoned Baudin estate, site of the disappearance of the so named family seven years ago. All that was ever found in previous inquiries was a mess of unknown cause throughout the abode. Much of the interior has been stained with what we assume is paint. One of the children, Glacia Baudin, was said to be a young prodigy of the arts, which would be a probable cause of the splattered pigments. *Chuckle* of course, if that is what passes as "Art", then I worry for the future creative minds of Piltover. *Herm*-Anyways, no sign of the fate of visiting Demacian family was ever found... until now that is! It would seem this Family had owned some of Piltover's earlier models of audio recording devices from those days, and we've managed to now find one. It's seems to have suffered some minor damage, and the audio quality is most likely quite low by today's standards, but we may finally get some answers to this puzzle of a tragedy. I'll cease speaking for the duration of this play-back... starting now! *Click*

Abilities

Passive – Corrupted Pigment

Reduces the duration and effectiveness of Crowd Control effects on Metus by 10/20/30%

Metus’ basic attacks and spells apply 1/2/3 stack(s) of _Deadly Strokes _ (Max 30 stacks for Monsters and Minions and 15 for Champions) to enemies. Each stack of _Deadly Strokes _ reduces a unit’s AD, AP, Armor, and Magic Resist by 1. After being out of combat for 3 seconds, enemies begin to lose stacks at a rate of 2 stacks per second, then at a rate of 3 stacks 2.5 seconds later. If Metus is killed, all stacks of _Deadly Strokes _ are immediately removed. Rank: LV1/LV8/LV15

  • Spell Shields item 3102 will not block the application of _Deadly Strokes _
  • Morgana’s Morgana Black Shield will block the application of _Deadly Strokes _ for as long as it is in effect. However, it will not remove currently applied stacks.
  • All stacks of _Deadly Strokes _ can be removed with Quicksilver item 3140 .
  • The Crowd Control reduction from Corrupted Pigment stacks multiplicatively with other Crowd Control Reduction effects.

Q – Devouring Eruption

               **Range:** 200
                ** Cost:** 60/65/70/75/80 Mana

**Passive: **Killing a Unit with Devouring Eruption or Ravenous Frenzy heals Metus for 1/2/3/4/5% of that unit’s Maximum Health. Active: Metus extends various maws from its body, damaging all nearby enemies, and healing itself for 3/6/9/12/15% of the damage dealt.

  • Applies on-hit effects.
  • Small units killed by Devouring Eruption (Except Teemo Teemo and Scuttle Crab) do not leave a body behind after dying.

W – Trickling Despair

     **Cast Range:** 950
**Affected Area:** 300
**Area Duration:** 2 seconds
**Cost:** 70/75/80/85/90 Mana + 5% of Current Health
      ** Cooldown:** 15/13/11/9/7
**Attack Type:** Ground Targeted Area of Effect

Projectile Speed: 1400 Magic Damage: 20/30/40/50/60 (+ 20/30/40/50/60% AP)

Active: Metus hurls a part of its paint body at the target area, marking all enemies who are struck or who walk into the affected area for 7 seconds. After 2 seconds, the paint lets out a wail and pops, dealing magic damage to and Fearing all marked enemies for 1/1/1.5/1.5/2 seconds. Metus gains True Sight of Marked enemies for the duration of the mark.

  • This ability is considered to be a projectile for Unbreakable and Wind Wall.

  • The Mark from Trickling Despair can be removed with Quicksilver item 3140 , preventing the subsequent damage and Fear.
  • Mikael's Crucible item 3222 will remove the Fear, but not the mark.
  • Applies Spell Effects as an area of Effect ability.
  • Rylai’s Crystal Scepter item 3116 will apply a 15% Slow.
  • Spell Vamp item 3145 is reduced to 1/3 effectiveness

E – Stalking Menace

  **Target Range: **Global
**Cast Range:** Within 1300 units of enemies marked by Trickling Despair
                  **Cost:** 50 Mana

Physical Damage: 70/110/150/190/210 (+ 30/35/40/45/50% AD)

Active: Metus begins channelling. If Metus goes uninterrupted for 1.5 seconds it will melt into the ground, releasing its paintbrush and becoming untargetable. 1 Second later, the paintbrush appears at the target location, with Metus’ paint body reforming in that area after 0.5 seconds and becoming targetable again. Enemies within a 300-unit radius of the strike receive physical damage and are knocked-up for 1 second.

  • If Metus is interrupted while Channeling, the ability goes on full cooldown.

R - Ravenous Frenzy

**Magic Damage Per Hit:** 10/20/30 (+ 40/50/60% AP)

Active: Metus’ roots itself and creates pool of paint in the area. 0.5 seconds later, all enemies in range are rooted, then pulled to Metus over 1.5/2/2.5 seconds. During this time, enemies in the pool receive magic damage and 1/2/3 stacks of _Deadly Strokes _ every 0.5 seconds. The pool of paint remains for 2 seconds afterwards, slowing enemies by 15/20/25% (decaying over 3 seconds).

  • Black Shield will block the magic damage, Root, Pull, and application of _Deadly Strokes_ from Ravenous Frenzy for as long as it is active. If the shield breaks during the spell, that unit will begin receiving the remaining damage and application of Deadly Strokes stacks as normal.

  • Spell Shields item 3102 will block the initial Root and Pull before popping.
  • Refresh summoner 1 will remove the Root and Pull, but will not prevent the damage or the application of Deadly Strokes.
  • Quicksilver item 3140 will remove the Root and Pull, as well as all currently applied stacks of Deadly Strokes. Damage and futher application of Deadly Strokes will continue as normal afterwards.

  • Small units killed by Ravenous Frenzy (Except Teemo Teemo and Scuttle Crab) do not leave a body behind after dying.

Metus is meant to be played as either a top laner or as a jungler.

Metus has poor mobility and damage scaling over the course of the match, instead focusing on defenses and several forms of Crowd Control.

During the early minutes of the game, Metus' strategy varies somewhat depending on its role.

As a laner, Metus' priority is building the appropriate defensive stat against its opponent to allow for easier farming. Once you put a point into you W, Trickling Despair and Metus' higher than average attack range can be used as zoning tools against your lane opponent, providing the threat of CC and Metus' stacking debuff. When being ganked, Trickling Despair is your best tool to disable 1 if not both of your pursuers. When your teammate is ganking instead, Trickling despair can be used to disable the enemy and give your Jungler enough time to move in. As a follow-up, Stalking Menace can be used to either further disable the opponent, or teleport farther down the lane to sandwich your enemy between 2 champions. Because of its high defenses, Metus can tank turret shots for your Jungler while they finish off the opponent. As a jungler, Metus' priority is jungle sustain. Gromp/Golem should be Metus' starting camps, in order to maximize Metus' spells in the Jungle. Rather than the usual Jungler strategy of finishing off a camp with summoner 11, Metus benefits more from smiting a monster into low health, and then finishing it off with Devouring Eruption, gaining more health back through the passive bonus. Because of Corrupted Pigment, Metus is able to fare better in sustained fights against monsters (including Dragon) than most other junglers. When it comes to ganking, it is best to have a point in Trickling Despair and Stalking Menace, as this combo is Metus' key initiation tactic. Metus.

Throughout the game, Metus should not be building any offensive stats, instead building completely tanky. Armor and Magic Resist work better on Metus than building Health. Cooldown reduction is also recommended to be able to apply CC and Deadly Stroke Stacks at a faster rate. Metus has poor mobility, and a restricted teleport, making it very susceptible to kiting and ranged champions in general. For this reason, it is best to travel with a partner or stay near your team once the roaming phase starts.

When ganking or engaging in teamfights, Metus' priority is not damage, but rather jumping into the middle of the enemy team. Once there Metus' job is to not only disable as much of the team as possible through CC, but to get as many stacks of Deadly Strokes onto their champions as you are able and to stick to your target. Afterwards, it is up to your teammates to kill those enemies, as Metus does not have the damage output to get many kills on its own. Metus' engagement tool is W, Trickling Despair, which starts stacking Metus' passive and provides crowd control. This ability also combos into E, Stalking Menace, which is Metus' method of entering teamfights, as well as chasing. Metus' most powerful tool is its Ult/R, Ravenous Frenzy, which can disable whole teams and greatly weaken them if placed right. While Metus' spells are on cooldown, Metus works best as both a skillshot blocker, and if need be, bait. Meetus is generally an all-in type of champion, having few to no reliable escape options. As such, Metus players must be careful about the fights they jump into. If a fight goes wrong, Metus' best escape tool is Stalking Menace. However the process of marking a target and teleporting away takes up precious seconds, and as such, is still a risky move.

Overall, Metus is not a fighter, nor an assassin like some tanks can become. Metus wholly embraces it's tank role by being a lumbering juggernaut that just won't die; one that can literally strike fear into its foes.

Just a note, im not trying to offend you, im trying to tell you how i feel of this champion. so yea dont take it the wrong way.

Lets start with the passive. The passive is way to powerful in what it does. It reduces all cc by duration AND effectiveness. Then along with that his auto's reduce Armor, MR,AD,and AP. which can stack 15 times. Phew. Thats alot to take in. This here makes all categories of people useless. Tank? minus armor and mr and worse cc. Adc? Less AD Apc? Less AP. Granted he has to auto attack, but that just makes him do a better job than alot of people could hope to do, and this is only his passive.

If i were to tweak it i would remove completely one of the aspects. If you keep the CC reduction tweak the numbers a bit, or make it ONE cc type. Having 30% with all cc is just too strong. Make it, something more like he gets 10/15/25% reduction to slows. or something. If you decide to keep the deadly strokes passive then you have to remove some of the aspects. If you want him to be a tank destroyer, then keep the armor/mr part but remove ad/ap and vice versa for a carry destroyer. other than that i can not say much about the passive, lets move on.

For the Q, does the passive effect disabled when the effect is on cooldown? Because it has potential to be too strong. Other than maybe adding a cooldown or disable of the passive its good as an ability.

For the W, i feel like the power lies in the duration. 7 seconds to not walk into the area or take magic damage, gives him alot of power. Lets put it in perspective, morgana's W, tormented soil, lasts for 5 seconds and does damage to people standing in it. Yours lasts for two more seconds, and has no direct damage but the mark. The damage is not the issue, the other effects are. Having a potential 2.5 second fear on a group of people is very strong. Once again lets put it into perspective. Shaco's W, Jack in the box, fear lasts for 1.5 MAX. Yours starts at 1.5 and grows, with potential to do much more damage. And on top of all that, it gives true sight. If i know what true sight is then you have 7 possible seconds on to which you can see any invis person with a mark on them. For the final time lets put it into perspective. Twitch's Q, Ambush, lasts for 4 seconds ramping up to a max of 8 seconds at rank 5, and you can delay twitch of going invis in the first place. Twitch has the potential to not be able to juke or even use his ability because you clicked W. That kinda thing makes the game un-fun. The ability to cancel a persons ability to do something with little to no counterplay. Tune down alot of numbers. I'd say remove the true sight and maybe even sight in general. Lets move on.

For the E, define interrupted. Is it like rek'sai where you can not take damage, or is it like other channels where you cannot be hard cc'd. this is a big factor for the ability, this is the difference of using it in front of an enemy to get behind to the carries, or hiding behind a wall and doing it in safety. Other than that the ability itself is strange. Its a mixture between vlad and reksai and it brings too much of both. Invulnerability is a tough spot to work with. It can ruin your day if you fail to kill a target because you can not do just that, target them. This one isnt the worst ive seen. It works pretty well as a risk/reward system. You risk being caught and cc'd and stopped but if you manage to finish it off you can dive into carries and destroy them. If anything slightly reduce channel time, but thats unneeded.

Im confused about the R. Does he root himself, making him stand still and pull them to him, or does he make a pool of paint and do the effect there? But that can wait for later, first of all this lacks alot of counter play. Having an amumu ult that locks them down then pulls them in is pretty useful. Granted a root isnt the best cc out there, but still them being unable to do anything as they get pulled into their doom isnt fun. I would say make it a slow instead of a root, but increase the range to compensate. Back to the beginning if it is the first one then it is slightly less bad, it gives the reward of them getting close to you but, with the risk of ... them getting close to you. It has a simple elegance. If it is the second then it is massively strong. Making a pool that roots and pulls them in while you can run around playing duck duck goose with their bodies, is strong.

Hope you listen'd to the end, and hope you liked the comment Oh and hate to b childish but the brush looks like a dick
