FABLE, THE GATEKEEPER

SHITTY CONCEPT ART SHITTY SPELL INDICATORS

PS: I'm not that good at drawing - sorry for no detailed computer art with colors etc.

LORE: Many years have come and gone since the last wanderer set foot inside the sacred grounds. The gates have since corroded and become sealed with rust. Dust builds atop a wintry spire, scraping the cold air like diamonds on glass windows. From afar it appears frail, almost as if it could crumble at any moment and disappear back into the dirt upon which it was built. But should one have the curiosity to gaze upon its stoic façade long enough, its age-old wisdom becomes apparent. Walls of limestone grounded in its earth; revealing breaks in the rock that give way to cancerous ivy. Neglected, forgotten and lost in in time, the library below was considered sacred to highest of creatures. Emperors and kings would frequent its halls to acquire knowledge used to conquer and rule, build and destroy. Over the years it has collected the stories of all the greats. It has archived and immortalized the lives of our predecessors. Everything one could ever wish to know is found within its endless maze, should you be so determined to find what you’re looking for. There was, however, one condition… Your greatest strength, and your greatest fear. These you must surrender unto the Gatekeeper. You could scour through every word of every book until your dying breath and find nothing more powerful than those parts of your soul. Over time, this knowledge began to consume his mind. Corrupted by the overwhelming power he had collected, he succumbed to insanity. The darkness of fear blotted out the last residue of light and sent him spiraling into a twisted rage of confusion and hatred. He locked the gates as he sensed he would no longer be able to contain the madness within. In a desperate attempt to protect the world from himself, the Gatekeeper cast a spell on the grounds that consumed every bit of knowledge along with all living things, and sealed it away beneath his mask. Almost a millennia had gone by since the last traveler came lurking. Only rodents and scavenging beasts roam the gardens. No one spoke about the seal for fear of what could be unleashed. It was thought to be forgotten, until one day…

The Gatekeeper woke abruptly to the sound of chains. He looked out and gazed upon a barren wasteland that sprawled before him for what seemed like an eternity. His eyes shifted towards a tall shape that belonged to a species he had not seen since long before the Library’s fall. The figure turned to him and spoke: “The sands whispered of your return…”

Race: whatever the fuck Bard is - or similar.

ABILITIES

PASSIVE - Fable uses a unique dual resource that changes depending on his form: light and darkness (golden white & dark purple). Fable starts each game in Light form.

Using abilities and basic attacks build up his bar (5 from abilities, 2 from basic attacks). When the bar reaches 100, it allows the use of his ultimate and his attacks gain bonus effects.

  • Light - Attack range increased to 525 and throws little bursts of light at enemies. Stores 5% of damage dealt as a shield that stacks up to 15% of Fable’s maximum HP.
  • Dark - Melee, swings punches at his enemies. Every third hit, basic attacks deal an additional 20% ability power as magic damage in a small radius around the target. Fable is healed for half the amount of damage done on the initial target.

Q - Fable throws his hand in a line in an attempt to grapple onto a target. Includes creeps and neutral monsters, but not wards.

22/20/18/16/14s CD.

  • Light - If it connects with a friendly unit, it shields them for 6/7/8/9/10% +(0.02 x AP) of their maximum HP. If reactivated, fable pulls himself towards that unit.
  • Dark - If it connects with an enemy unit, it deals 6/7/8/9/10% +(0.02 x AP) of their maximum HP as magic damage. If reactivated, fable pulls himself towards that unit.

W - Fable tethers himself to an enemy champion within a short radius dealing a small amount of magic damage every second.

14/13/12/11/10s CD

  • Light - If target stays within the radius for 2.5 seconds, they are rooted in place for 1 second and Fable gains a burst of movement speed for 2 seconds.
  • Dark - If target leaves the radius before 2.5 seconds is up, they are rooted in place for 1 second. When the tether breaks (regardless if the target triggered it or it simply expired) the next attack Fable makes against that target will do bonus magic damage.

E - Fable claps his hands dealing damage in a cone in front of him creating a small shockwave that projects in a straight line. Enemies hit at the very end of the shockwave are knocked up.

10/9/8/7/6s CD

  • Light - Enemies hit by the clap are pushed backwards and are slowed. Enemies knocked up take 50% of the initial damage over the next 3 seconds as magic.
  • Dark - Enemies hit by the shockwave are slowed. Enemies knocked up are not slowed but take 50% of the initial damage over the next 3 seconds as magic.

Ultimate: When at 100 light/dark, Fable can switch forms. Switching forms consumes all Light/Dark energy and causes a bubble to burst outwards from Fable’s location, creating a sphere of light/darkness. This zone slows all enemy projectiles - targeted abilities no longer lock to a target and instead continue in a straight line. Basic attacks ignore this effect. Lasts 5 seconds.

  • Light - All allies in the initial blast gain an anti-magic shield (amount increases with AP) for 5 seconds.
  • Dark - All enemies caught in the blast take Magic Damage and have reduced magic resistance for 5 seconds. Reduced MR is applied after the initial burst of damage.

I really like this kit, but I realized it could be a bit… overloaded. I’m very much open to suggestion on how to fix this issue. The idea behind this champion is that his abilities stay essentially the same but he fills an AP bruiser/engage role when he’s in dark form, and a support mage/disengage role in light. NOT like Nidalee who can do fucking everything all the time. I want Fable’s role to be clear when he is in a specific form. If it feels like he can be extremely offensive all the time when in Light form - and vice versa - then I fucked up.
