Lore

Strider only a boy in Piltover. No special powers, no great ideas. Just a boy trying to grow up. He studied hard so he could become a great inventor like Heimerdinger. He even tried to sneak into Heimerdinger's lab many times to try to see how the inventor was able to make such great technology. But one time when Strider snuck into Heimerdinger's lab, Heimerdinger was not there. So Strider decided to explore his lab and see what he could invent while Heimerdinger was away. Strider tried to make anything that he possibly could, but every time he tested the invention it just crashed and fell apart. Strider became furious at himself that he could not make anything even with the help of all this technology. In his rage, he trashed Heimerdinger's lab and made a very bad mistake.

But who came into Heimerdinger's lab was even more of a surprise to Strider. For it was not Heimerdinger, but it was Viktor. Viktor had come to steal technologies from Piltover to increase the production rate of his Glorious Revolution. But what Viktor saw was a boy who clearly was capable of something great. Viktor did not come unprepared and was able to use his own technology to snag Strider from the lab and take him to Zaun. There, Viktor experimented on Strider's body, keeping most of his human essence in him, but making his body fuse with the machines. Viktor made his eyes able to detect weakpoints in enemies. Viktor gave him a steady hand, allowing him to shoot a gun up to any range. Viktor gave him new legs, that allowed him to escape the worst of scenarios. Viktor gave him special bullet shells that exploded on impact. But most of all, Viktor gave him one bullet that he said to only use in the most dire of situations.

Strider was broken in spirit and in style, he was crushed down to his lowest place and made to be a servant of someone else's mind. But no, no no no no no. Strider would not have it, he had been given this "gift" from Viktor and he wanted revenge. Strider planned it out, after days of training to increase his abilities to wield the Revolver. He sought after Viktor. He was fueled in rage and fueled by lust for revenge. He searched the entity of Zaun and killed many civilians just to find Viktor. Luckily, by killing so many he was able to draw out every citizen of Zaun it self. Many tried to take him down but he used all of the tricks that he was given to kill many of them. It was a slaughter, blood stained the streets. But eventually, the residents backed off. Zaun had asked for the help of Piltover, and they sent Caitlyn and Vi to help the city. They attacked Strider without end and they took him down after hours of fighting. Strider was beat and could not believe he could lose, but he knew he had one chance. While Vi and Caitlyn flew him back to Piltover, he used his new hands to slip his revolver back into his hands. He took the bullet and put it into the chamber. But before he pulled the trigger, he heard Viktor's voice in its mechanical undoing. "Try to stop my Glorious Evolution." He heard the voice say. And Strider's anger came back, he saved the bullet and instead supercharged his legs to push himself out of the helicopter and propel himself to the ground.

He forcefully smashed himself into the ground and created a crater in the ground. He let the technology repair it self. Strider looked at his Revolver and saw the bullet. He knew at this moment he was going to kill Viktor with this bullet. Now he travels Valoran, in a rage, looking for Viktor. He travels in an endless rage for what has happened to him. He travels to end the suffering that has been brought about by Viktor.

"No one will feel Viktor's wrath, never again." -- Strider

Gameplay & Itemization

As far as I can see it. Strider can be taken either Top Lane or ADC. Leveling of skills will be the same, but ideas of how to build will be different.

Top Lane

Max Q, then E, then W.

For top Lane you will need to keep your farm up while poking down your lane opponent to make sure they can not give you a hard time in lane. In a sense you will need to keep your poke up such as how Teemo or Quinn would poke them down. Due to your decent base damage, you will easily be able to win some early trades and other things of the sort. Although it will be easier to always have the lane froze so that you can avoid gank opportunities. If a gank does come, due to you having three charges of a short escape, you will be able to escape fairly easily. Although the best option to use your W for is to chase down your enemy as you burst them down with your Q and E.

For ADC

Max Q, then E, then W

If you want to go the Traditional path and play ADC, this place is not for you and get out RIGHT NOW.........

Ok I am good, anyways, if you want to play ADC, the best idea is to just keep lane froze until your support sets up a kill or, until their support tries to engage on you.

If your support engages, then use your E to get your shots ready, then use Q when you have a clear shot of one of the enemies. Then use W to keep rolling up with the engage.

If their support Engages on you, start with W to get away from them and then start using Q and E to burst them down and use W if possible to chase them back.

(Good Luck in Solo Queue, and Have A Wonderful Day).

Hey! ^_^ I've been meaning to do a review of your concept for a while but I've been caught up in the middle of exams and a side project so things have been a little rough:/ But anyway to the review!

Lore: It's a cool idea but I'm not sold. If someone was trashing your house would you calm him down and figure out what the hell is wrong with him or call the police?

Also I don't think Heimer would be keen on equipping some random kid with weapons and such( Would you give some kid who trashed your house weapons?) We're talking about a champion with quotes like:

"Aha! I knew it! Now what was you question again??

"Raise your what?!"

Heimer has always come off as a more silly character to me i don't think he would arm random kids or make them his invention. This is just a suggestion but why not change Heimer for Viktor? i feel Vik would be more willing to help a kid struggling to become an inventor. he himself knows the frustrations of being an inventor, he created blitzcrank but had the credit for it stolen. Also i feel he would be more keen on making some random kid his "invention", he's all about turning people into cyborgs after all. Just a suggestion.

Passive: I'm guessing the idea behind this is to allow him to bully people hiding behind waves but this does create another issue. because of this passive he will always push lane and aside from his ult he's completely immobile. This makes him incredibly prone to ganks and being dived on.

Not sure how I feel abut the reload system. Graves has it because his AA's are really different also 1.5 seconds can be the difference between winning as losing a fight.

Q: I think this should be a skillshot, if it's a point and click than its range must be really limited to prevent it from being abused. Look at Panth spears, imagine if they had a bit more range it would be an absolute pain to lane against. Same goes for your Q, it has decent bases and good scaling which makes it very strong for a point and click. Making it a skillshots provides counter play for you enemies as well as rewards skillful play.

W: I really don't understand why you would recommend maxing this. The only thing you gain is CDR the damage is still the same. Also does this proc on hot effects? because that would be really silly when paired with Guiso's or BOTRK. it's a bit strong especially its a guaranteed damage. Maybe make the number of bullets scale with level? That way Strider is rewarded for maxing it?

E: The base damage on this is a bit much... I mean 180 additional damage for a single AA? That's a guaranteed 1080 damage (it's 2 AM while I'm writing this so sorry my math is a bit off). I think you should lower the base and give it a decent AD scaling this way it isn't straight up oppressive and scales with the player. Can this be used along with your W? Cause that damage is absolutely absurd for a guaranteed hit.

R: Not a big fan of this. It's just....boring...... While many champion have ults which jack up your stats most of them give them effects this is mostly just giving him random stats and I would argue this is MORE op than Riven's ult. it just gives him a ridiculous amount of stats which generally isn't very fun nor interactive. Sorry this is kind of a bit hard for me to explain but look at a ult similar in style to this one: Singed's ult. Singed's ult gives him a bunch of stats too but Singed ult is rather..... boring. You just pop it for fights and that's it. there isn't much decision making around it just pop it when its up, compare this to something like Miss Fortunes ult or Luciens ult where you have to look for the proper time to use it.

Thoughts: his kit comes off a bit weird to me. In many way i think he's more of a burst AD caster. I mean most of his damage is coming from his Q into W E after he uses all his abilities without his ult his damage falls us huge as he has to reload and wait for his CDs down to come up again. Unlike other ADCs he isn't going to want to buy AS so he isn't going to be good at sustain fights and instead rely CDR, AD , and maybe crit items( if his W can crit....actually that sound OP as hell a 3x crit?).

Also a lot of his damage is guaranteed, his combo consists of mostly point and clicks which might be a bit frustrating to deal with because as of right now he can burst pretty hard especially with W+E I mean 1080+ 3AAs in one spell?

I'm really digging this concept, the abilities and stats all seem pretty balanced and well thought-out. I was curious if you intended for Strider to not have any inherent mobility outside of his ult. Most marksmen have some sort of self-peeling ability, but unless I'm missing something, the only mobility in his kit is the movespeed buff from his ult. Also, his backstory reminded me of a concept I came up with last year; if you could, take a look and let me know what you think.

Hey! ^_^ here are my thoughts on Strider's new kit!

Before I start the review I wanted to ask a few questions that might help you with the champion creation process.

Why should I pick Strider?

What separates Strider from every other ADC? From what I've seen you seem to want him to be a solo lane bully. But a TON of ADCs can do this, Quin, Lucian, Cait, Vayne, etc. a lot of other adcs can do Striders job and in some cases do it better. Why should I play Strider over Lucian? Lucian can output FAR more damage than Strider can because of his double AA passive and all his abilities, he is about as safe as Strider because of his e and w, and he scales better than Strider. Why should I pick Strider over him?

Solo lane ADC?

Another issue that has been bothering me is why is Strider the solo lane ADC? To my knowledge he doesn't do anything better in the top lane than he does bot. He still is an early game bully either way. Why do you believe he's better in a solo lane than bot?

How do see Strider being played?

After the laning phase how do you see Strider being used in the mid game? How will he combo his abilities? etc.

How would you play versus Strider?

Imagine you had to play a game versus your concept, what would you do? A concept ideally should be fair to both you and your opponent do you think Strider fulfills this?

Do you believe your abilities work together?

Do you believe your abilities work together to create a nice flow or do you think you have four random abilities? I'm not saying you have four random abilities I just want to hear your thoughts and why you think they work together or don't.

Now to the actual review.

Lore: Well that's an interesting take on adding Viktor. I think you might have an issue that I've been seeing with a lot of concepts. You add in other champions but they don't have any real impact on the story.

What I mean is is you took out Heimer or Cait and Vi it would be the same story: If Strider broke into any random lab and not Heimer's lab the story would be the same, if he was caught by random cops instead of Cait and Vi it would still be the same story. The champs don't have any real impact on the story and you could swap them out for other elements.

Passive: Not quite sure about this...... I'm not sure how useful a 15%slow is early on though a 65% later on is really strong. Not sure abotu this I'm really not.

Q: I know I recommend you to make this a skillshot but I kind of realized isn't this Jinx's Q? Also i don't know if this is an issue but isn't 200 mana for a spell a bit much? I don't play ADC so I don't know how much their spells cost but that's quite a bit:/

W: I really like this ability! It's unique and gives Strider a unique "flavor". I feel that it gives him an almost "Get out of my Way!!!!" ability which is pretty cool. So props for coming up with it.

E: When I meant increase the scaling I was thinking an AD scaling:/ That way it scale better into the game and isn't super crazy early on but you do you. Also 220 mana at max rank?

R: i think 2 second time to load the bullet and 2 second to reload might be a bit much:/ That's four second you're out of a fight and creates a pretty awkward scenario, like if you're using it to finish off someone you're giving them two seconds to run and if you're using it to initiate you have to wait two seconds to continue the fight.

Oh and I'm going to be entering either this CCOS or the next CCOS, I have a concept I've been thinking up for a while now do you mind taking a look when I'm done? Just give me some initial thoughts?

Oh and if you want to learn a bit more about champion kits i would HIGHLY recommend you check out a youtuber named Stonewall008, he will actually talk about a champions kit and tell you the problems with it and stuff :P

here's a link to a video I think you might find useful, I'm not tying to say anything abotu your concept with this video I just think its a good video that discusses champion kits. Oh ant it's a little old like before Morde rework.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbTPemmD33k

My thoughts on Strider's kit.

Passive: it's a nice ability with decent scaling. though it seems lack luster in the early game, unfamiliar combatants will find themselves with a very annoying slow on their hands. but maybe see about having the passive proc more often in late game. I'd start with the usual 10, then have it scale down to 4-6 at lvl 16 or so.

Q: The Q just seems like your average skillshot snipe and that not a bad thing, so I shall ship it. PS: their's a typo on the Q.

W: Need a bit of clarification on how this skill works. Does it send you that distance as a dash or jump? does it make you untargetable while using? Or is it a movespeed buff with an added effect? Also a typo on this skill.

E: I like explosives, and I like this champ >:3. Unlimited duration on this is a little over doing it though. Not much else to say.

Ult: Need to clarify how he goes about unloading his gun, but the rest is actually quite nice. The scaling in good, the damage is Ult sized, and their a bit of counter play in that he can't attack for 1 second. Sure, you took their ADC, but 1 second in League means life or death. Win or lose. So I like how you added that small piece of counter play that pro players can use... and learn to work with.

The overall champ works for what he's meant for and does what he's supposed to do... without being to OP or broken. Sorry about being harsh on your last champ though.

he looks like he belongs more to Zaun and Noxus then Piltover...

LilStacey8712/13/2015, 9:06:37 PM1 votes

I agree with Phantasm, the picture itself does have more of a "Zaun" feel to it... but anyway, here's my opinion on your champion concept. I think your headed in the right direction as far as the lore and stuff goes. I get the feel as if Strider is like a Cyborg-like super soldier marksman who uses some sort of handgun, his weapon isn't clearly stated right now, which is cool, I'm using my imagination.

The Passive: Cool passive name, Hex-Tech Sight. Though I have an idea I wanted you to consider.

Passive Hextech Sight- Once an enemy enters combat with Strider or is in Strider's basic attack range, Strider will mark them, gaining true-sight of the enemies until him and the target(s) are considered out of combat. Using abilities on targets with Hextech Sight marked of them increases the range of Striders abilities by (x) units.

I think that would be a great passive for him if you agree, if not, I just thought I should share my thoughts. I say this because if you are in an actually game with Strider, how would an Auto-Attack attack through a unit unless it was shooting straight at all times? How far extra would the particle travel?

(Q) Bang

I like this ability, it's a basic damage spell with good damage scaling. I'm not sure why you would make a unit take LESS damage than the initial target behind them because it sounds illogical. Especially if you are making the skill a single-target spell. Please explain why to me when you can.

(W) Roll and Shoot

This is another basic ability, it's just Vayne Vayne's Tunmble with 3 shots instead of 1. I know you can create better, maybe something slightly different than a roll would do the trick. Also instead of 3 shots of reduced damage, try increasing is AA range as well.

(E) Ricochet

I got to admit man/woman, this is almost exactly like MissFortune Miss Fortunes Double Up. So I have to disagree with this one.

(R) Hextech Empower

I love it! It's a little bitter-sweet, since it increases so many stats but for some reason it fits into the "Experiment" theme. I feel like you did a good job not over doing the stat bonuses as well, thought the attack damage increase is a little high.

I hope my review didn't offend you at all, and I also hope that it inspired you to come up with quotes and an example build for your community creation. If you have time, please review my community creation as well as up/down vote on my page and the polls.

Thank you much fellow summoner! William, The Commando of Progress

UPDATE

  • Changed the E into a Basic Attack Modifier that gives bonus damage and splash damage.

  • Changed the W's name to Rapid Shot

  • W now gives 6 bullets instead of three, and each do only 50% damage instead of 75% of damage.
