Possible AP Item Concept
Hello fellow forum members. I have below a suggested item concept called Serylda's Reckoning which fulfills the role of being the AP's counterpart to Maw of Malmortius, granting a shield against physical attacks. The reason for this item is to diversify the defensive options against physical damage other than buying Zhonya's Hourglass while increasing the number of finished build items for Seeker's Armguard. Note, this item's purpose is not to overshadow Zhonya's Hourglass. It grants significantly less AP and doesn't grant stasis. However, it grants significantly more Armor and a temporary shield. Additionally, it is somewhat easier to proc than its Maw counterpart as it can be activated via ranged physical attacks or abilities.
#Serylda's Reckoning :
Total Cost: 3000 Gold
Build Items:
Seeker's Armguard (1200 Gold) +
Glacial Shroud (900 Gold) + 900 Gold
Stats:
- 40 AP (870 Gold)
- 65 Armor (1300 Gold)
- 300 Mana (420 Gold)
- 10% CDR (266 Gold)
UNIQUE – RECKONING: If you would take physical damage that would reduce maximum health below 30%, you first gain a shield that absorbs 200 (+30% AP)(+25% bonus armor) physical damage for 5 seconds (90 second cooldown). Reckoning triggers Resurgence UNIQUE – RESURGENCE: Grants 25(+10% of AP) as bonus Armor until out-of-combat. (Bonus Armor from Ability Power goes up to a maximum of 25.)
Editor's Notes:
- Unlike Maw of Malmortius, this item grants a lesser physical shield that soft-counters AD burst damage, and its shield value scales with AP and Armor. The reason for the Armor scaling only being at 25% bonus Armor is to minimize the possibility of tanks abusing this item since Armor is relatively easy to stack. As for the AP scaling, it is to balance out the shield value between Maw's bonus Magic Resist Scaling and this item while encouraging AP reliant champions to build damage.
- The bonus Armor from Resurgence is to grant lingering resistance to physical damage after the shield has long dissipated. However it's not too overbearing since its scaling has a cap, and it also enables champions of lesser AP to gain its maximum bonus as well.

and how it's much better than Sterak's Cage in more ways than one. If the stats got more concise and less varied, it would be a much better and niche item because of how this item might indirectly cater to more champs than it's targeted to (aka those who need enough sustain to live through burst and live to trade back rather than for anyone who faces any ad champ in lane).
