Pantheon Rework Idea: Spear/Shortsword wield

BOT TURBOINT·9/13/2014, 6:14:18 PM·12 votes·4,110 views

#Introduction

So while playing Pantheon I was thinking, his Q is on such a short CD that he is throwing spear after spear, it would qualify him as a Spartan Javelin thrower rather than a deadly melee fighter.

I admit that I am influenced by blockbuster movies (Troy/300 hue?), but I thought it would be rather cool if Pantheon was wielding both a spear and a shortsword?

Much like Jinx' Pow-Pow and Fishbones; or to a lesser extent Jayce' Hextech Hammer/Cannon, Pantheon would be able switch between a spear and a shortsword as a weapon. Jinx Jayce

#Aim

The goal of this rework is to transform Pantheon into "Mantheon", a truely terrifying Spartan Warrior! Thus, we will be getting rid of his assassin-traits and promote a tankier bruiser-stlye Mantheon playstyle while still retaining his ability to execute low HP enemies.

#Changes overview:

  1. With the spear, Pantheon has Bonus Armor Penetration and a higher AA Range.
  2. With the shortsword, Pantheon has Bonus Attack Speed.
  3. Pantheon can throw his spear for an execute on an enemy champion. (High range)
  4. After Pantheon threw his spear, he switches to his shortsword as his spear is unavailable (on higher CD).
  5. Slight skillset changes dependent on which weapon he has equipped.

#Full Skillset:

Pantheonsummoner 21item 3086item 3105item 3031item 3460 New Pantheon - The Artisan Of War

W: (Unchanged) Aegis of Zenonia - Pantheon leaps upon a target enemy unit within 600 range, dealing (50/75/100/125/150 + 1.0AP) magic damage and stunning them for 1 second. Refreshes Aegis Protection. item 3105

As a Pantheon fan I gotta admit I find this pretty interesting. I do have some ideas if you don't mind...

I would change his E sword attack back to the heart seeker strike that it is now. We have enough "spinners" in the game imo. The cone could be smaller for obvious reasons and the animations could be him swinger his sword furiously fast.

Also I would change his W to AD ratios but small ratios and make it a longer dash and take away the point-click stun. The dash can go through minions and and push aside champions (slightly) till he reaches the end of the dash or hits the target that he was targeting

Think this is cool since irl Spartans preferred short swords when their formation broke and they had to fight right up in people's faces. Reason being that their 9 foot long spear was unwieldy out of formation and close range. However think sword abilities could use some work.

Looking at the use of the Shurima trinket, all I could think of is:

OMG, RITO'S MACKIN' MANTHEON SHERBERTMA.

I'm being a necromancer.

Honestly I love the concept of swapping between those weapons. It sounds closer to combat mastery than just his spear.

Love the direction but i swear you should be on the balance team with those damage numbers.... lol

I really find this idea interesting and really cool. As a pantheon player that rather enjoys trying out lots of different builds this could be kinda cool, i feel like to take away his assassiny play style you would need to change his e (though im not sure what to ill think about it). I reckon in sword form if his e was more of like a jayce w (ranged form) so like 3 quick strikes with the sword, and then keep it the same in spear form. I really like Immortalibra's idea of his w(see the top post on this thread) you could make it a dash that can go through minions, and the animation could be him charging with his shield, and that the first champion he hits he stuns. Thats just my opinion.

no offence but you kinda took away his whole combo and his ability to be an assasin
