League Of Legends Map Editor??!

So League of Legends is one of the leading online games out there. I have another suggestion to bring to the table to make it even better, and more fun for the whole community, while reducing the stressload on Riot for "new maps" by a ton(We've got champs and skins, let's have something new!). Why not give US(the players) an intuitive map making tool?

I'm thinking SIMILAR(not exactly synonymous for obvious copyright reasons) to the Starcraft/WC3/Starcraft 2/etc. map editors, but more focused on unit abilities, and creating fun unique maps for everyone. Let's get some interesting and new concepts out there for people to play with on an already fantastic game! Murder Bridge is fun, but why not let people make their own intricately designed, and uniquely awesome custom maps?

It would include but not be limited to Ability To Change:

  • Champion Stats
  • Champion Skillsets(We can give champions any skill from any champion, rename it, change the scaling). The only issue here would be animations for the skills, but to solve this we would be able to choose the most fitting animation for the character from its original skills to use for the new skill we are giving it.
  • Neutral Monster Stats
  • Tower Damage
  • Buff Bonuses/Durations
  • Monster/Champion Names
  • Which Champions players can use on the map
  • Map Size, and Team Size
  • Number of Teams that can play on the map. 2v2v2v2? 3v3v3?
  • More Ability To Place:
  • Minion spawn locations(Associated with an inhibitor)
  • All sorts of Terrain(Desert, Land, Space, Jungle, Water)
  • Bushes/Terrain
  • Health Relics/Buffs
  • Capture Points
  • Neutral Monsters/Boss Monsters
  • Turrets
  • More Scripting/Misc(Maybe some preset scripts so that people who don't know how to script can contribute)
  • Minion Spawn Timers
  • Point Counters(Like Dominion) ... First team to 50 kills wins etc.
  • Tower Scripts(Ex. Towers Deal instant kills, but only take 20 hits to destroy)
  • Minion Scripting(Ex. how many minions spawn, how strong they get per wave etc)
  • Much More

Now this means all the balance is up to the person who has made the map. This can really open up a creative window to bring something both awesome and new to the field of justice. I'd like to see what kind of ideas people would have if they had the ability to make a map for the League of Legends! Maybe if one of the maps was very fairly balanced, Riot could adjust it as necessary for use in actual PvP matches. riot pls! I will keep this post updated, and answer all questions here. If you have a great idea, I will add it to the OP!

Feedback: Admiral Ackbar: Surprisingly not a trap. Storm Trooper: These are the ideas I was looking for! Sonic: If someone tries to downvote this idea, well that's NO good. Dr. Claw: I really don't even want to get gadget anymore after this great idea. Honey Boo Boo: Riot needs dat special juice. Michaelangelo: Rock on party dudes! Mog: Kupopopopopopopo.

Fuck league and fuck Tencent. That is my opinion.

Riot can't afford to have their own players make a better mode than their own game.

Do you honestly think riot would properly bug fix the tools, champs, and map on top of polish and update it though?

I'm surprised practice tool is stable atm, but then again they haven't changed it much since its original release other than a few things.

I'm surprised no one has commented on this, I think you have some great ideas.

I remember suggesting the same in 2011 looking at how well Starcraft 2 was doing with their map editor. Back then it was very unrealistic because Riot struggled to edit their own map themselves let alone to design an editing tool for creators.

Things have clearly changed and now is the best time as ever to bring this up again. Riot is finally looking like they are easily capable of this. Benefits of your own map editor are endless and your game can sustain itself long after it's dead in the eyes of the devs.

Riot will never be as good as Blizzard. The reason why Warcraft 3 is a world RTS game now is because of the endless games, so many awesome looking beast characters and factions. Riot only focuses on anime characters and summoners rift.

Nontheless, if it happens, I will easily see League is on top too

They just removed 3v3. They're telling us we don't need more maps. Buy more tft little legends though.

I just have one question regarding your idea. Would this be limited to pvp content, or would it allow for pve modes as well? I enjoyed Odyssey, and would like to see more games like that.

This would be a great idea. The hundreds of arcade modes on starcraft 2 are one of the reasons i love the game. Cant tell you how many hours i had in probes vs zealot

If overwatch could do it... so can lol and better, dont wanna add new gamemodes let people do it, but they'll never add this saying we dont wanna slow peoples queues by doing a lot of gamemodes

With how good they are even them thinking of implementing something like this, as cool as it is, would completely break the game.

Small indie company, buddy. Great idea though.

Main problem with this is how League is set up, with their client and then the game being separate but heavily connected. With WC3 map editor (which I've used a lot) it doesn't really matter what you pick beforehand, as it is just a race/mouse cursor, but League has most of its intrinsic data set up within the client. So more or less it'd be EXTREMELY difficult to know WHAT you are choosing when you are in champion select because champions would have to appear the same as always until you get inside the game(because the client can't update every minute with EVERY new map changing champ skins or names), meaning you'd have to basically have entire wikipedias for each new map someone makes.

All-in-all if League actually invested into this I'd LOVE to use it. AND they could EVEN make it so that champion skins(for new custom abilities and whatnot, even ward skins and emotes included) would ONLY be available in the editor if you OWN that skin, which in turn would SKY ROCKET their skin sales. And they could even come out with NEW prop skins(bundles only, as buying a single prop would be stupid) for people to buy and decorate their maps with, and maybe terrain paint to work with, tower skins, lots of options to make money. It'd cut into the queue times pretty heavily, but Rito would make a killing and I think ranked would stay fairly populated.

Riot could be very intelligent about implementing this, but I just want someone to make an All-Random-Abilities mode, or at the least Ability Draft.

I love this idea, it's a shame I don't think Riot will ever go for it.

Ya, Fortnite has creative mode and players really love it, Bringing this concept to league would be dope. Love the idea

I've seen these ideas bounce around for years, and I'm still all for this; but riot won't chance anything distracting from their precious esports & tft. Dominion, twisted treeline, and the RGMs would've been more popular if they actually put in half the effort.
