yasuo

Alright so im back with another discussion on the forum about yasuo's origin. watching some of the ideas he could have been before final product release/updates. Long story short, his character was intended on being thing elegant dancing samurai(dancing of course not meant for an actual dance/twerking samurai but agile constantly moving.) in this sense i think they captured it amazingly as far as balanced with his E ability as of now. not completely broken but from one summoner to the next MAN can this guy move. secondly, if were talking about elegance/dancing these types of swordsmen focused on finesse or vital spots. making his critical strike idea valid but, why not have made it a part of his dash mechanic E? maybe something similar yet not similar to fiora where after every dash on a new target his crit chance doubled for his next auto attack. i say this instead of my original thought that every dash guarantees a critical strike because the latter sounds much more broken(crazy hard to hit yasuo that starts using riven mechanics XD dash hit dash hit.) of course to make my first crit idea plausible you would have to do away with his doubling crit passive. instead it becomes the passive of an active. but keep the cool down effects. next (and i hope many miss this as much as i do) but the old ultimate from fiora that was changed cough cough murdered.... (her "basically" omnistrike that i think we all loved as far as effects looked. seriously that ultimate still has not been topped today years later) fits our wind strider perfectly afterall, the wind is always by his side right ;). The Q at the moment i cant actually think of a better way for it because it seems to work with current and even a suggested kit such as this way too well. already balanced. his passive(since his passive would move to being the passive of an active ability he needs a new one right?) there are a million of you that could top this idea for a change in passive i am QUITE sure about that. because my idea for it is a little bit contradictory, and at the same time not. This one comes from the current base yasuo skin origins and a style of sword fighting not fully prominent during the time you could find such armors designs and incorporates a little of fiddlesticks current passive. (i chose a one-handed style but i was also debating with myself over a more serious two-handed style.) IF the free moving agile swordsman has not moved for (balancing purposes i added a range of time) 1-2 seconds (synergy with duskblade maybe??) he shifts into iaido stance. many of you may not be familiar with the word itself but if anyone has seen anime this is a concentrated "quickdraw" strike where the holder instantly re-sheaths their sword afterwords. but i am not trying to give yasuo an alpha strike. instead i would say it works much like Talon's Q and gives him increased auto attack range for his next basic attack(insert game balancing time this buff lasts) becuase his E isn't considered an auto attack he could dash dash lunge BAM! you have recreated one of those great quickdraw scenes from old kungfu movies. His W i actually couldn't think of a way to change it that would work well with who and what yasuo is supposed to be. I had thought of maybe making it a stance switching move (one handed to two handed) which would considerably change his style. one handed is fast and agile. two handed is slower but powerful, maybe here knockups could be inserted, and it could be treated similarly to nidalee or elise's transformations. pretty farfetch'd in that respect so i decided not to push for that here. Anyways if you like agree disagree or have your own ideas how yasuo could have been (hey riot did good, had a ton of ideas, probably this was one of them that couldn't work. but offering your ideas can never be a bad source of inspiration for them. even if they only need 5% of something you thought of) then drop your thoughts and lets see if maybe we help make the game even better. By the way, I also added a poll at the end specifically pertaining to my thoughts on a new Q,E,R,Passive and i'd love your feedback.

His double crit chance is a fine passive. If you remove that passive, he will have to have some other kind of damage amp/increase in base damages to be able to do his job. Remember, Yasuo still has to buy that crit chance, so he doesn't even get to have his damage amp available right out the gate. AND they reduced his critical strike damage by 10%. Think of some other damage amps:

Cait Head shot: Immediately available.

Tryndamere: Imediately available up to 35% crit chance. No purchase necessary and no reduced damage.

Those are some easier ones to compare, but all carries will have some kind of damage amp somewhere in their kit. Some, like Yasuo's, are delayed:

Twitch: Level 6, Attack Damage amp on ult.

Tristana has hers on all of her skills minus her ult XD: Attack speed amp, bonus AoE damage when killing a unit, a bomb that explodes, a jump that does more damage if you jump onto a bomb.

Late game carries will always have some kind of damage amp in their kit.

Honestly? I think Yasuo only needs some minor changes as far as his annoyance factor goes:

W: Windwall- Have the duration, not the wall's width, be what scales with level. It will still be a powerful zoning tool late game, but it will be less oppressive early when he only has a point or 2 in it.

W: Windwall- Spawn point needs to be directly in front of him, you can adjust the drift distance so that it still functions as it does now, but he no longer gets to block stuff by accident when he throws the wall the wrong way.

I like Yasuo's Ultimate, but I wouldn't mind something less reliant on my team. I think they got rid of Fiora's old ultimate though because it was too strong 1v1 and too weak in teamfights or something like that?
