We should be able to get past mastery rank 5 by playing twisted treeline. It has it ranked games. As a player who only plays twisted treeline and does not have fun on summoners rift I feel like it is not fair that I have to go play on a map I do not like to try to get past mastery rank 5.
You could also try bugging Riot about it via Ask Riot.
I agree that restricting Champ Mastery tokens to only SR makes no sense. Denying access to a League feature purely based on map preference feels terrible. Furthermore, Riot's claim that normal SR meets some arbitrary bar for competition that ranked TT doesn't is completely contradictory to every other Riot statement that ranked games are intended to be more competitive than normal games.
