#Hi again Yet another champion concept from me and my friend. (first one being http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/mAQXHAUW-champion-concept-splash-art-suggested-skillset-lore-azulynn in case you were wondering). A more versatile kit with the freedom to choose between advantage through purchased items or more damage dealt in lane, shifting from an early to a late game champion based on one's playstyle and lane opponent. All replies are welcome! :D

#Kit or skillset or spellset or whatever Passive: All Corvidal’s spells cost gold.

Q: (CD: 1 second. Cost: 60 gold) Makes all active and inactive tax zones explode and deal 10/40/80/130/200 (+60% AP) magic damage removing them in the process.

W: (CD: 5 seconds for a charge. Can hold up to 3 charges. Cost: 50 gold.) Consumes a charge to deploy a tax zone that lasts for 20 seconds and deals 50 base damage plus 5% (+3% per 100 AP) of target’s current health as magic damage to anything that passes through the border Corvidal can have 3 active tax zones at a time, if he makes another, with 3 active, the oldest one goes inactive however doesn’t disappear until it has been there for 20 seconds (allowing him to use his Q with it). If a tax border kills an enemy Corvidal receives extra gold equal to 10% of the targets normal gold value.

E: (CD: 20 seconds after demand (the time he takes money) has ended. Cost: 5 gold.) Passive: All tax zones deal 5/10/15/20/25 (+2% AP) magic damage each second to all enemies within the borders. Active: Corvidal demands his taxes forcing every unit (neutral and enemy) in all active tax zones to pay him 1 gold each second lasting for 10 seconds and increasing by 1 gold for every 2 seconds they stay in the zone (up to a maximum of 5 gold on the last tick) (every 4 seconds for minions). During this time Corvidal moves 10% slower and can’t basic attack.

R: (CD: 10 seconds between each investment. Cost: 10/30/50/70/120 gold per investment.) Corvidal starts investing and can stack up to 100/300/500/700/1200 (+120 per 100 AP) gold in his bank by investing 10/30/50/70/120 gold at a time by using the ability. When Corvidal reaches max stacks in his banks, his investment literally blows the roof and Corvidal can reactivate the ability to choose a target area where gold coins starts falling for 20 seconds dealing magic damage equal to 50% of the stacked gold in his bank.

#Lore: The Pantherpie is a mythological creature, a hybrid of a panther and a magpie. -“My father was one brave bird” Corvidal Mac Pie is just such a creature. He is famed for his wealth across Runeterra

  • “My tremendous wealth! And my good looks.” He recently joined the League of Legends in order to gain more acknowledgement and recognition and to keep eyes off of his shady businesses.
  • “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Corvidal began his fortune by mining in the Crystal Scar, and worked his way up from there. Soon after he started buying business that were on the brink of bankruptcy really cheap and turned them into propitious businesses. No one knows to this day how he does it, but Corvidal can make money off of almost anything.
  • “I once sold a pair of glasses to Lee Sin.” Many of his businesses help people with cheap prices or by making them buy stuff they don’t quite need. Hence a lot of people see him as a good person, although extremely shady and greedy.
  • “I once fed Cho’ Gath till he couldn’t eat anymore. He ate through 3 of my best restaurants, but the payment was splendid and enough to buy 2 more!” He also runs a store selling ancient, sacred artifacts with incredible power, for a good price of course. The artifacts are extremely powerful and are therefore very expensive, yet the Corvidal collects them fairly cheap and only keeps a few for himself when they are really shiny.
  • “I have a huge ancient coin, probably worth twice my weight in gold. But it’s so damn shiny I just had to have it for myself.” Usually he pays an explorer to go fetch the artifacts after buying maps or information about the locations of the temples or burial sites.
  • “That Ezreal guy usually does it for next to nothing!” Corvidal Mac Pie, a creature of many trades.
  • “Sir Corvidal Mac Pie”

I love this champ. Reasons:

  1. Reminds me of something cool. (Duck Tales!!)
  2. The skin reminds me of Bio Shock Infinite. :D
  3. He is perfectly fitting for Runeterra. There's not much randomness happening anymore.

Eh, this champion's kit brings to mind a lot of unprecedented balance decisions, gold as a casting resource, gold as a damage modifier, stealing gold from other players, gaining gold off of your allies... The amount of ground that would need to be covered is horrifying, and I feel like the end result would just be gold dealing only about as much damage as how much damage you could just buy from the store, making you want to shop instead of harassing or doing almost anything with your spells other than to gain money, until at the very end of the game where you have a full build and can literally blow all your money to win the game.

Maybe Coridal could gain a little less gold on minion and lesser monster kills to balance him out, does that work Stromageddon50? But then if you do that I feel that he should gain extra on champion kills. there could be some things to try to do something to balance him out. I do see that you have made the cost for his abilities kind of high, which I guess balances it out. But i also see that his E is free, that the passive is free totally makes since, but to balance out that really awesome active E, something might have to be done, maybe possibly the active would cause him to slow down since he has to get all his money? Lastly (sorry if you feel like im harshly criticizing this awesome concept) I feel that allowing him to take gold from allied champs is kinda (unfair). I read some where that abilities that cause allies harm makes the champ unfun, i know its just 1 gold but still hes causing his allies trouble, id be cool though, maybe to balance it out if the active E took extra from enemy champs exponentially if they stayed w/in the zones. All of what I have said are just suggestions and you dont have to listen at all. I really like this champ though, he is very unique and I loooove the idea of a gold based resource that is very interesting. I can tell a lot of work and thought went into his creation. I really like how his kit is very integrated and there is a lot of (what is it?) inter-kit play? and thats cool. Id be cool to play with him and as a team mate, I wonder how he'd work with a team, is a mid laner? That makes him a mage right? Even if riot doesnt take this idea, I hope that they will consider the gold resource idea, I find it very intriguing.

gold as a casting recourse was cut down time and time again... until Corvidal came and bribed the creators with his awesomeness, and enormous funds and made them do it.

Small formatting tips:

  • Put the passive before all the abilities, puts the rest of the kit in context and helps clarify any interactions it might have.

  • Use double spacing, bold, and quote blocks to help make everything look nicer (right now it's rather hard to read).

  • Put the sidenote for the lore above the lore so I read it first :P

I think that the gold system is really ambitious, and while innovation is crucial, every kit needs a pivot point. I use Braum as a classic example. Passive and E interactions are all brand new, making it hard to discern what their state of balance would be. However, the designers balanced this out by making the Q,W, and ultimate a spin off of familiar abilities already present in the game. Gnar also uses this to some degree.

It's a way to make abilities/kits new and interesting while also grounding them with familiar patterns of interactions in gameplay. In short, Corvidal should have something stable to fall on. The rest of the comment does a great job of pointing out other design problems (Taria05) so I'll just leave that to them.

Overall though, awesome art and I think that a gold resource can indeed work, given some sound logic behind it.

So your saying switch "If a tax border kills an enemy Corvidal receives extra gold equal to 10% of the targets normal gold value" with "He would buy the minion for 5 gold and it would fight for him with 50% reduced health and damage, but would give him all the gold it earned from killing? (like an upgraded minion?)

If you not saying switch them, then I think W has enough going on, and the addition should be moved to Q or E, where he automatically buys the minion on activation or he just buys one minion if hes kills a unit of activation. I also think that a mark like a coin should appear above the minions head so everyone would know. Also if Corvidal died, would the minion go back to its original side? or does the minion get life insurance?

I think that, that is pretty cool and unique. I think you want to be able to gain gold from the minions kills then you should increase the price to like 10. I like it, but remember what Flintfall said about abilities that are familiar.

You have inspired me to do great things! please come take look at the product you help create! http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/zWVzZnLk-champion-concept-gryndheim-the-usurper

Gold as a casting resource has been cut down time and time again. Also, a five minute B. F. is not okay.

This is probably one of the better gold mages among champ concepts I've seen (coming from a guy whose tried multiple times to create a proper one). His abilities seem pretty solid to me. But my biggest criticism is his design. There's nothing really wrong with it, but it just doesn't feel flashy enough. Maybe throw in some golden accents on him and he might be passable. It's important to note that with League champs; the more over-the-top, the better! I might even ditch the wings all together or at least make them smaller so as to give him a more distinct silhouette. Several champs; Kayle and Swain coming to mind, share his type of body plan (Swain, during his ult) and it just kind clutters the game with winged anthroforms. Maybe have them severed and replaced with useless gaudy prosthetics, probably only could for gliding at best. Add some cufflinks and spats for character and I'd say it's wrapped up purty.

Hi Christian, this is an interesting concept.

Did you think of Collin in Advance wars on Nintendo DS as inspiration? Collin's strategic superpower is the ability to recruit troops at 20% discount at the cost of 20% less damage and 20% less durability BUT he can choose to double his gold as his first ability AND he can choose to superpower his troops based on how much gold he has in the bank.

This concept is, like the other, susceptible to changes both in lore and kit. And of course criticism for the art is most welcome aswell. All comments and criticism are. Please notice it Riot! The community want fun and innovative champions, who are less serius Shaco.

The idea of using gold as a resources is definitely but it seems to be problematic in his passive. Bonus damage for gold owned and gold gained for damage dealt, this could be extremely snowbally especially when gaining gold for killing minions plus the bonus for dealing damage. This plus the incredible ease in rushing almost any item because of the multitude of ways to gain gold.

I'm making changes now but I'm uncertain if it would be too op if Corvidal instead of (from the new draft on his W) :"If a tax border kills an enemy Corvidal receives extra gold equal to 10% of the targets normal gold value." He would buy the minion for like 5 gold and it would fight for him with 50% reduced health and damage, but would give him all the gold it earned from killing? (like an upgraded minion?) Would LOOVE some feedback on this as both ideas seem fun imo. I'm gonna release the draft soon with the "If a tax border kills an enemy Corvidal receives extra gold equal to 10% of the targets normal gold value." but if i should change it plz say so and i will

I like the concept, but I think the gold abilities and gold as a casting resource wouldn't work well. Too much of a chance to snowball, and being denied hard in lane would wreck him. Now you could have him be kind of like a viktor champion where he has a passive item like viktors or just a passive that increases his power based off how much money you have earned/spent, or just have it cost money to upgrade. As for a few ideas I have on abilities: Time is money, Corvidal throws his pocket watch on the ground hastening allies, or slowing any enemy that pass within the circle however wide around the watch. Rain of gold, Corvidal targets an area causing it to rain gold in the area damaging, and stacking a % slow on enemies for each .5 seconds they stand in it as they get bogged down by the gold. Hire Mercenaries, Corvidal uses his wealth to cause a minion on the other team to switch sides, or summons ____ soldiers to fight for corvidal who target like yorick ghouls. The minion paid off, and the mercenaries could grant Corvidal the gold from any champions or minions killed by them and slow. These abilities should cost mana though, and honestly with the gold mechanic I think it would be better used to make a support champion. For example have his passive "bind" him to an ally (usually adc) and have them get extra gold from kills and farm while he is in range. Just some ideas though.
