[ REWORK CONCEPT ] : Lux, The Light of Demacia
Hello everyone. I'm Dalarkes and I'm main Lux
with a mastery level of 7. I've been playing her for now 8 months. I'm a recent player, started late 2016, but I only started to play seriously this summer of 2017. I may not have enough experience to suggest a rework, but still, I have some ideas in head and I want to share them with you.
So, I'm not just suggeting a rework because I want a new version Lux without any viable reason, no. I have my reasons, and I think many players will share them with me :
1_ Starting with Lux's look ( Classic skin ) : When I first saw her in splash arts, I though that in-game, Lux willbe wearing a luxurious demacian armor like her brother Garen. Well, I've been disapointed. In-game, Lux looks like she is wearing a dress. She really isn't interesting visually, and the way she walks reminds of how old Evelynn used to walk. Weird... I think that her look needs to be reworked and get more colours in it, as well as giving her a real armor. Basicly, like a blond girl version of Garen, in addition to, of course, some accessories. Something like that.. By the way, I posted a link to a Lux fan art, it's one of my favorites. It shows Lux in her classic look, but just notice how well defined her outfit is, with the details, the aditional colours and accessories that the actual outfit we have in the game now doens't have. I would like Lux's classic look to look more like that, more white and gold, colours that symbolyze light, and very beautiful accessories such as the belt at her waist.
Her abilities too, need a design rework. Really, Lux looks like an outdated old champion. Her abilities, specially her Q and E are barely noticable, and they don't look aesthetic.
2_ Champion lore and personnality : Lux's personnality and lore tells us a lot about her :she is the light in the darkness that guides people's paths, a hope in battle and a positivity spreader, that's why, instead of naming her The Lady Of Luminosity, The Light Of Demacia fits her way better, and already tells a lot about her, since she is the light that illuminates her people and chase the darkness, and that's why, I love Lux's champion concept. And to valorize this light-bringer style, she needs a suitable clothing. Also, I thought that making her hair a bit longer or in a bun will fit her very well ^^.
3_ Next, we have Lux's abilities : Very basic abilities, with no real originality. Not really interesting. You Q to root the enemy, you E to deal damage, and you R to deal more damage. That's it. Her kit lacks of variety, and definitely isn't mechanicly interesting. She may be fun the first 20 games you play her, but as soon as you start to get used to her you progressively get bored. Compared to other champions, she becomes boring very quickly. Annie is a very simple champion too, but her R makes all her originality since you can play her in various ways when controlling Tibbers. Lux needs fresh new mechanics to be add to her kit to make here more interesting and enjoyable to play.
She's too ability reliant, too much ! She has only one or two combos, which are entirely dependant of her Q. If you don't hit the enemy with Q, you can't really do anything. You can try to snipe with E and R but it doesn't often succeed. You need to hit an enemy with Q, so you can properly damage them with E and R. Basicly : Snare, damage. That's it. Her W is the only interesting ability Lux has. It's a boomerang shield that is useful in laning phase and teamfights, and I think she's the only one to have this sort of shield ability that works like a boomerang. Very original.
4_ New abilities suggestions : So , in the goal to get Lux a rework, I'm going to suggest some abilities that I personnaly made, and I would like to read your thoughts and suggestions about it. If you think that an ability should be modified and/or doens't fit in the kit, please feel free to post a message about it. I really want this rework to be done, Lux is in need of modifications to make her a more modern champion with a cool design and cool abilities. The numbers such as damage, % , time, range etc. won't appear here, since I can't come up with proper balanced ones. So I will put an " X " or " ?" sign instead. I only suggest the concept. So, here they are :
_P ( Burning light ) : Every ( X seconds ), Lux's next ability is empowered, burning enemies and dealing ( X ) damage over ( X seconds ).
Q ( Light wave ) : Range : ? : Launches a wave of pure light in a direction dealing ( X ) magic damage to each enemy unit it passes through and rooting the first enemy champion hit for ( X seconds ).
W ( Prismatic barrier ) : Range : 1000 : ( I kept this ability because I found it fairly interesting and fits well in Lux's kit. But if you have any suggestion replacing or modifying this ability that could be interesting, please leave a comment ^^ ) Lux throws her wand to a target location and back, bending the light around herself and any friendly Champions it touches, protecting them from 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 (+20% of ability power) damage for 3 seconds. Hitting an ally with Prismatic Barrier as it's going out doubles the shield granted when it's coming back.
E ( Illuminating burst ) : Range : ? ( this is like a mini version of final spark, so I think it'll be around 1000 range ) : Fires a burst of light dealing ( X ) magic damage and knocking back enemies hit, revealing the surrounding area for ( X seconds ), and marking enemies hit with Illumination for ( X seconds ). Enemies marked with Illumination take ( X ) additional damage from Lux's next ability .
_R ( Light Fall ) : Range : ? : After gathering energy for ( X seconds ), Lux calls down a beam of light energy at a large target location, dealing ( X ) damage and revealing the area it covers for ( X seconds ). ( This ability is similar to Redemption's active, except it deals way more damage and doen't grant any bonus effect to allied champions )
