Zilean Reworked! Passive removed. Rewind reworked into passive. Q Given Quality of life buff. E now cleanses movement speed debuffs. Ult now can use Rewind effect.

" Legends once told of a great champion who one could never killean, but with the latest updates to Marksmen as well as the progression of mid lane and top lane importance, Zilean (while not bad) has started to show his age. Zilean's kit is one that speaks of a simpler time, one that while fun isn't very meta in today's standards. That's why we're bringing Zilean back to the future with this rework!

We wanted to break down our thoughts on the changes. First off the passive. Time in a Bottle was a quick fix for the bot lane dominance of Mord + Zil. Afterwards, we wanted to see how the skill would fair on its own. The skill found success in forcing pressure on early game leads as it allowed a laner or jungler to hit level six in crucial moments. The issue came with after level 6, 11, then 16. The skill fell off in usefulness and worst of all if the game lasted past everyone hitting level 18, Zilean was down one of his only 5 abilities. It became a punishment for lasting that long in a game. With Rewind, we are able to keep Zilean's core mechanics while also adding in a new one. We will see how games progress with our current cooldowns since it needs to hit that sweet spot around level 9 since most would max W second previously, but also feel rewarding by level 11 and 16 since it is still a skill leveling through the game.

Zilean's Q went from a point and click to a lob back in season __. This change allowed for more play and input on Zilean as a support and carry having the first AOE stuns at the time... at the time. We want to give Zilean back the importance of not having to depend so heavily on one Q combo per team fight. Before, if Zilean missed it meant a free dive. Now we want to give a little more game play around his Q. Imagine a Talon using his ult and sees the enemy Irelia has a bomb on her, but she Q'd away and now Zilean's following bomb missed. Talon could keep walking towards Irelia for his usual combo or decide to detour to Zilean's bomb so once he uses his leap he gets a free AOE stun on his attack. With this change we hope to see Zilean mains no longer feeling as pressured on a missed Q during some dire points early and end game.

Zilean's W is so core to his kit it nearly is the most pressed skill when playing him. Whether you Q or you E you're then pressing W to get it back. A marksman needs to auto, a tank needs to dive in, and a support needs their kit to flow naturally as well. We're simply taking out invaluable steps while still retaining Zilean's core game play style.

Time Warp is a simple skill. It gives high speed or high slow. No damage, no dot effect, no polymorph, no heal, no Zhonyas effect, no invisibility, you go fast or slow. We want this skill to feel as if it always has an effect. If your ADC is jumped on by a Kha Zix and slowed, Time Warp will do little more than add a nice breeze for the assassin on his way to destroy your carry. With this change we hope to give value to his skill at all times as it is so basic and yet so valuable and worthy of getting Zilean's passive if need be.

Oh boy here we go. This is likely what turned heads for anyone seeing the rework. On one hand Zilean's R can confirm dives, can be a safety net for himself or carries, and create a 'kill him or fail' end game mentality at it's best. With how end game has been changing, Everyone has Zhonya's or Guardians Angle. Everyone has a free one time revival. Zilean however only has one goal end game and that is to hopefully land a stun and of course give his ultimate to a carry. If he is dove and ults himself, it almost feels wasteful if you aren't a carry. Zilean alone cannot carry a game and Zilean support is only meant to ult someone else typically. With this change we're giving Sylas's ultimate stealing cooldown onto Zilean. Now Zilean is easier to telegraph if he can ult his allies or not but also be able to stay longer in a fight and support his carry's in need or he could give assistance to his Marksman or his tank. The combinations, while not endless, gives enough to allow Zil to feel safer and more viable for early and late game while not overpowered as the cooldown will allow the enemy team to know they can no longer fear a Vayne restore if they dive soon enough."

Passive: Removed: ~~Time in a Bottle: Zilean stores time as Experience. ~~

When he has enough Experience to finish an ally's level, he can right-click them to impart it. Zilean receives as much Experience as he gives. Cannot be used in combat.

New! : Rewind

Upon casting Q W E or R, the skill now glows golden. One skill may be recast with this golden aura, giving Zilean another cast of that spell. [The tough part here is that the current Rewind does not work like this. It rewinds ALL skills upon press if they are on cooldown. While it would seem "So" fun to have a Zilean with essential 8 skills at all times, I feel this would become the point of being over powered. With the current one skill rewind per press, it allows the passive to become more valuable by end game, allowing skills to be weaved and pressed in a more fluid motion and give more pause early game as to not allow a never ending snowball effect as Zilean might have to choose between a stun or saving two lives. ]

Q: Time Bomb New Effect: If the center ring of bomb on target A comes in contact with bomb on target B, the stun effect will now proc as well.

W: Removed: Rewind: Zilean can prepare himself for future confrontations, reducing the cooldowns of his other basic abilities. Reduces Zilean's other basic spell cooldowns by 10 seconds.

New! _____ : (I'm not smart enough to be on the balance team of making a whole skill for this so this is a free slot to do whatever. Personally I think this needs shields/heals but something time related could be useful. Possibly consider a "record button" or even a skip feature to put onto another champ. No clue on what to do for now though.)

E:

Time Warp New Added Effect: Casting time warp on an ally now removes all slow debuffs on them (does not include roots, grounded terrain, or slowed terrain such as Grave's Smokescreen).

R:

ChronoShift New! Effect: Rewind can now be cast on R, however a timer is then set on allied champions making them unable to be recast on for a longer period of time than the ult cooldown.

This is a neat concept but it sounds unbelievably broken.
