So, I have gone over to S@20 and I found that Blood Moon Elise was going to be released. To be honest, I really liked the pink on it. Naturally, when the skin was mentioned with color changes, I found that it was quickly retconned to a deep red.
Now while I usually like the ideas matching the concept, this just doesn't feel right on this little(big?) Spider(Human?) Riot please explain the reasoning behind the color change?

Players felt that she looked more 'Popstar' or 'Heartseeker' than Blood Moon, and didn't fit as cohesive as other skins in the line. We listened to the feedback we'd received, and adjusted her color.
With that being said, we've been listening to both sides of the issue - both the players who like the pink, as well as the players who like the red. The team has been discussing what, if anything, we're going to do regarding the final color of the skin.
I've said this a few times around the boards, but it's super important that you guys, as players, comment and talk about what you do like, as well as what you don't like when it comes to new content. We can only make changes based off of the feedback we receive, so having well-rounded feedback is awesome to have!
Sukishoo4 votesWell I for one hope something else happens cause that red is very off putting. Sure, it goes along with the feel of the rest but even then not really. Kalista is more of a Magenta then Red, so I think having Pink for Elise gives them better variety overall. Though the red does look a lot better on the Spider form, just not the human form.

It really sucks to be one of the first to discover top lane Elise being a thing when everyone else thought she was an assassin, to see her nerfed so hard so repeatedly because she was too good at jungling, and now we end up with a product where the top-lane anti-bruiser I loved her for can only jungle and not top lane anymore due to her repeated nerfs due to being too good at a role that I did not buy her for.

edit2: I think the main idea behind Elise' colour change to a deeper red is to be more consistent with other blood-moon skin. While I can see why you feel pink fits Elise better as she's a girl, the presence of all the other bloodmoon skins dictates it's more important for her to be consistent. If only whoever handled

I feel you man, now that they nerfed her utility in the E's I think they can afford to...whats that phrase they used when they didn't nerf lucian they just relocated the power to lack of cooldowns and mana costs and made him better...? OH right definable strengths and weaknesses. Anyway, they can do that with Elise too by bringing back the bonus MR and Armor or perhaps better sustain for top like mana regen on spider w or something.

The lore behind the Blood Moon skins is that the Blood Moon festival is some kind of event within Ionia. It was in the Journal of Justice a couple years back.

Personally, I'd like to keep that section of skins all on the same page. I like when things match and they all share the unique characteristics of the concepts. The pink just doesn't fit IMO.
Faë2 votesI think both sides have said enough about their points and for some reason Riot decided to rule in favor of the red fans. Although I'm personally the fan of the original setting (not only because I like pink better, but also the other settings of the skin work well with pink), I find it meaningless to just post the repetitive opinions again. Therefore, I want to choose to compromise and offer some of my humble ideas:
KOI NAMI's Red If Riot has to change the pink to red, can you use the red as Koi Nami's body? That would look great since I personally find the current color is just to bright and it's "red red" and looks really boring. KOI NAMI has the red that's red and dark enough to fit the blood moon theme while still being elegant for a champion like Elise.
"THRESH's Gold" Since the original skin was designed to be pink, the purple/blue color and yellow-gold legs really go with the package. However, since you changed it to red, can you also make her gold legs more like the gold that you used in Thresh's blood moon skin? That one looks more "Champagne Gold" instead of "gold gold" and works very well with Thresh. Or you can simply use the goldish color on BM Elise's spider body (the mask). I don't think it's a good idea to change it into other colors tho. I know gold is also part of the blood moon theme :). Also, the little spiders also need some changes since their queen is different now.The models are different and I'm sure there is a way to make them look different than her classic skin spiders. Moreover, I don't mind the blue because her hair is blue and her skill animation has blue in it.
I really really really like her Blood Moon Skin and don't think it is a good idea to change her skin name since BM is sooo cool she deserves that instead of lotus order or heart seeker. I really hope riot can see this and take my ideas into consideration. I really think this would look really good and it could be a solution that meets both side's tastes.

Glitter Spitter1 votesIt might be a good idea to allow players to choose at purchase. i dont see anything wrong with a blood moon elise red or blood moon elise pink. It sorta opens the way for players to truly have custom skins to show off the champion they love. From Riots point of view i could see this as a great money making opportunity as well. Think about it. no matter what you decide, half (aprox.) will choose not to buy the skin because the didnt like pink/red, on the other hand if you make it available in 2 different colors you no longer divide your customer base. you also lose nothing in return, the skin is made, and a color change takes little to no effect and a few hours if that.
Personally im not a elise player, i probably wont buy the skin unless i start playing elise, but the reason i want to advocate this so much is because i think riot should be more open to situations like these, offering themed skins in a variety of colors, or what not. also color changes are some of my favorite skins, like xerath, i love all the different colors he can be, as well as velkoz(having red lazers is bad ass) TL;DR: Make BM Elise available in both colors, you make money, elise players are happy:D

Compromise: make the human form pink and spider form red, the effects kinda lean more towards the pink side but at the same time they work with the red model, that way people get the seductress luring you in to eat your face feel, only going murder red when shes about to strike and hiding behind not threatening pink until she does

It shouldn't be that big of a factor and will probably make the skin sale more. Obviously if you purchase one, the alternate should be discounted significantly. 130-150RP maybe? Something that could again generate more revenue. I mean if it doesn't work, you don't have to do it again, but why not just give it a shot?

I concur entirely with thinking it was a heartseeker skin initially.
I really appreciate the switch to a more red color scheme. That said the fleshy pink cleavage still feels like it is the focus of attention instead of the blood moon elements of the skin. If you could cover the cleavage 'kimono' style with again more of the blood moon red I think it would really tie the skin together. I'm sure that Riot's artists can still make the cleavage appeal as cleavage while being covered with blood moon textured cloth. (and not just flesh pink occupying the prime screen estate of a blood moon skin)

I was so happy to see you changed her color, because if it's one thing I don't like, then it's disregarding the theme of a skin. She's not Blood Moon if she's not red, end of story. If you want a pink Elise skin, make it Popstar. That's like saying you're making a "Fullmetal Kassadin" skin, but he's not actually made of metal. Why even call the skin that way then?
I really honestly don't care how many people want it pink, it should be your duty to stick to the theme given to each skin series, and not change one pink just because a couple people think it looks better. The only reason they think it looks better is because pink was first. It's human psyche. It's the "Lee Sin" effect, where the only reason people wanted Lee Sin was because he appeared in a very early trailer of League of Legends.

Ever heard the saying "Don't second guess yourself"? The first choice you make is likely the right one. Please please change it back, it was so beautiful before and I'd hate to see a skin become something its not just to suit the type of series its in.

Unfortunately, the skin is out now, which means we won't be making changes to her. Pink is something we could potentially revisit for another skin!

Dimitri Dark1 votesI don't always sign on the boards, but when I do, it's to comment on something important like voicing the opinion that although red may fit the 'theme' better, pink is aesthetically superior. Reducing the visual appeal of a skin simply to bring it in-line with a theme doesn't seem so sound.
