Balruck, the Merchant (Champion Concept)

Balruck is the brother of the one and only shop keeper of the rift. After his brother kicked him out of the family business he decided to open his own shop, but he would do something his brother wouldn't, bring the shop into the fighting.

Balruck would be a utility support meant to help out his team out with crowd control and stat buffs. He would be short and have the appearance of a dwarf, carrying bags of gold and assorted weapons.

Abilities

Passive (Pocket Full of Change)- Balruck has increased gold income. His abilities cost gold to cast.

Q (Big ol' Bag of Weapons) - Little to no cost in gold. Passive - Balruck can switch between weapons (using a bar similar to kindred passive): crossbow, pickaxe and throwing axes, each weapon changes the range of his auto attacks and gives him a unique Q active. Balruck can change weapons every few seconds. Crossbow- Longest range. Active- Stake em Up, Balruck fires a shot from his cross bow, the bolt is connected to a chain. If the ability lands on and enemy champion or epic monster, Balruck pulls them back and stakes them to the ground, they are ensnared in a circle around the stake for a short period of time, the target has freedom of movement and the ability to auto attacks and cast abilities but cannot leave the radius around the stake (Similar to Camille ult but less amount of time). The range from which the ability is landed determines how small the ensnarement is. If an enemy other than the ensnared victim steps on the stake the victim will be release from the chain imidiately. Pickaxe- Short range. This is Balruck's default weapon. Active- Digging for Gold!, Balruck slams his pickaxe into the ground, throwing enemies away from Balruck in a semicircle shape. After the spell has been cast a fissure/wall is created around the cast range that acts as a wall. After a few seconds these would resend back into the ground. Throwing Axes- Medium range. Active- Sticking axes, Balruck charges his next auto attack priming it with a bomb and a very sticky substance. When the auto hits an enemy it does aoe damage and slow. If the aoe hits more than enemy champion Balruck is given another empowered auto that will root those hit again by the aoe damage.

W (Delivery Service) - No casting cost Passive- Lowers shop costs by 10% Active- If Balruck is in shop and presses w he can buy an item (Still has to buy item as if it were for himself) for an ally, only one item at a time can be bought (consumables can be bought up to 1/2 the maximum amount rounded down), this item is kept on the w slot of the HUD. When Balruck reactivates this he choose an allied champion, the player he choose is able to see the item icon displayed about his head and if that player clicks the icon the item will be transferred to him after a short channel. If the channel is broken the item is lost.

E (Everybody Loves Gold!) - High gold cast Active- Balruck tosses out an overflowing bag of gold. The gold creates a circle on the ground (Like a Soraka Equinox) that charms those facing it upon it's cast. If it anyone touches the gold, whether they are hit by it or they are charmed into it they are stunned for a short duration.

R (New and Improved Store!) - High gold cast Active- After a channel Balruck builds his new and improved store. The store sells only component items no full items, but it has better things to offer! Some of the following items can be bought at Balruck's store:

  • Team buffs, increased movement speed, healing, etc.
  • Turret shields
  • Mega wards (wards that reveal a large area of the map for 2 mins, are revealed like pink wards and can be killed with two autos) Everything extra in the shop being buffs or utility actives, meant to provide a small increased advantage in team fight and laning but not meant to radically change the course of the game and make it no skill for the players on Balruck's team. The better the buff the more gold it costs. I have not entirely fleashed out these buffs and such, so if you'd like you can leave a comment and help me out with these. The shop would make noise upon it's cast so that enemy players would know it's been casted, it will have a health bar and can be destroyed by the enemy team. Players on Balruck's team can share the debt on team buff items in his shop (it would be like you make a deposit and this can be seen by allies with a completion bar and numbers, if the whole cost is not met within a certain time period your gold would be returned to you).

Playstyle-

Balruck is absolutely meant for the support role. He is all about giving your ally an advantage in the laning phase. His w serves a similar function as Zilean's ability to level up his teammates. Using his w correctly is what make a huge difference in the lane, due to the high cool down it will be super important to use this ability at the right time with the right item. Since his e also is high cost and high cool down you have to really be picky about when you use it or get punished for a wasted E. Therefore, Q becomes the bread and butter of his kit, knowing which crowd control ability will be most effective is when Balruck will truly shine through. It is the combination of cc that will allow him to break apart the enemy and lead his teammates to victory by setting up plays they can follow through with the improved stats he gives them.

Hmm he'd be interesting in that you could finally have an AD support. His kit is very odd but thats not necessarily bad. Overall I' say it'd be nice to see in game but it'd be really difficult to balance due to him uniquely effecting item prices.
