Witch-like Champion Concept.

I love creepy forest/swamp stuff. Dead trees, flocks of crows, shacks filled with weird ingredients, animal skulls, scary creatures, you name it. Which is why Elderwood Nocturne is one of my favorite concepts so far. So it pains me that we have so little of that in the game and I'd like to see more of it, so I figured what a better way to have that in game than with a champion whose theme revolves around that? So here's something I though of, inspired by things suchs as the Hagravens from Skyrim or the Pyromancers from Dark Souls. I don't have a name for her yet, and it's best left that way, since I'm bad at naming things.

Lore: She was born into a hidden coven deep on a remote Freljord forest. From a young age she was constantly pushed and tortured by her fellow witches as a mean to make her a very powerful sorceress, and they succeeded, at the cost of her sanity. Once she was strong enough she slew each and every single one of them and used their bodies for her own experiments. She has developed a hatred for most things living, and seeks to become even more powerful as to strike down anything or anyone that gets in her way. In combat she is savage, animal-like, outside she's very smart and composed but still filled with hatred, however she knows to respect a worthy opponent. She is currently interested in killing vastaya to use their magic.

Likes: Insects, butchering creatures, strong opponents, plants, moles, rabbits and rodents.

Hates: Most living things, especially loud ones.

Friends: None.

Rival: Udyr.

Visuals: Pale freljordian human, long black hair, black makeup, wears a crow-like outfit. Her recall makes her disappear leaving a flock of crows behind, sort of like Coven Lissandra.

Music: Theme is ominous but badass, something like this.

Abilities:

Q - Slashes with her claws twice in an area in front of her. Each slash follows your mouse. Visually similar to Nocturne's.

W - Summons a swarm of insects that travels as a projectile until it reaches its destination or collides with a champion, it then slowly expands in a circular area and any champions that come into contact with it get "infected", taking damage over time for a few seconds. Should it kill/come into contact with a dead champion, the insects will consume the champion's corpse and the ability will become empowered next time its casted, depending on how many unique champions were eaten. Insects are brown-yellowish in color.

E - If cast normally she simply dashes forward, dash looks shadowy like High Noon Lucian's and black feathers fly behind her. If cast during/right after her Q, she charges forward (slightly slower than her normal dash) with her claws ready and slashes any champion she passes through, she then uses any uncasted Q slashes. Visually the charge is more may I say, "Naruto-like".

R - Marks an enemy champion for death, making them take extra damage from all sources. Shown with a deer skull icon above the marked champion's head. If the chapion dies before the debuff ends, its body morphs into a giant Wendigo-like beast that brutaly mauls its opponents. It's fast, has high health and hits hard, like Udyr on steroids. It prioritizes champions infected by your W. It slowly loses health on its own but if it kills a champion it heals a bit. Wendigo is battle-scarred and bloody, like the Volibear we never got.

Passive - Killing monsters will grant her "materials" depending on the monster killed (Wolves may grant "Murk wolf head", "Murk wolf claws", etc. Gromp may grant "Gromp eye", "Gromp tongue", etc.), which can be used to craft unique items in the store. Q Upgrade - Ravenous Claws - Slashes heal for every champion hit. W Upgrade - More Insects - Infected champions will spread the insects to other champions or corpses around them after a short delay (like Varus' R). E Upgrade - Raptor Cloak - If cast normally she gains camouflage after the dash for a few seconds and her next Q becomes empowered for the duration. R Upgrade - Taste of Blood - Killing a champion will also empower the creature for a few seconds, making it harder, better, faster and stronger. Consumable - Sacrifice Ritual - Casts a magic circle on the floor and places the necessary components for the ritual, granting allies and herself with lifesteal for a few seconds on a large area around it. Aditionally, if cast on an "unconsumed" enemy corpse the champion will be added to the next W cast empower and R can be cast on it. Consumable - Voodo Ritual - Casts a magic circle on the floor and places an effigy for the ritual, debuffing enemies for a few seconds on a large area around it. Consumable - Wild Ritual - Can only be casted on camps, and after a duration depending on the camp, the monsters will become tamed and help in combat, after the effect ends all the creatures die automatically. Consumable - Meaty Lure - Use on a champion (point and click) to increase the area they get infected by W and gain R+tamed camp priority. Those are just some ideas for items, but many more could be crafted.

Possible Release Skins: Death Blossom - Wears blueish leaves instead of feathers, insects are pretty butterflies, Wendigo is a giant insect creature instead. Elderwood - Similar to Deah Blossom but with a more orange palette, Wendigo is a giant golem instead.

So that's my concept for a champion. It may be OP, it may be useless, probably defined by her numbers but I definitively like it and would like to read what other people think.

Personally, I would really love a Witch-like character like the class from SkyForge. That was my jam when I played that game.

If you never played that, basically the Witch/Warlock deals in DoTs (pretty much all AoE except for some targeted spells) that stacked for a heavy DoT. Then, the Witch could detonate the stacks for burst damage. It was fun.

This idea is pretty cool as well. I am guessing this is more of a jungle champion though from the passive? Nothing wrong with that, but I personally like mid/bot more so I can't really speak to this champion that well. But, I do like the thought you put into the concept. I am curious though about what you think this champion's story might be like? I, personally, like the upgrades though. Those seem cool and I like champions who can upgrade (even though I don't play them). =)

Witch/Warlock was on my list of concepts, but I am currently working a new duo concept in Shurima. Mine would be something similar to the SkyForge concept of the Witch/Warlock (because I love it). (I almost finished with a few key details)

Have you read Brand's lore? It is one of my favorites. His mother sounds like the type of character you want aesthetically.

I really like the idea of gathering ingredients from monsters or interacting with dead champions in a more meaningful way rather than gaining stat buffs (Kindred, Senna).

Riot could easily incorporate a disgusting c'thulu coven type of character because of Volibear and Udyr's lore direction and introducing another shapeshifter would be cool with updated technology.

A witch like champion would be cool.

A few thoughts. League doesn't really do fully themed champions anymore. Its more about the character, so she would have to be more than 'oh its a swamp witch'. Her backstory is very boring and plane. Its just 'Im evil' in a nutshell. Maybe give her a more tortured backstory based on betrayal. Or give her ties to lisandra or Sejuani, or maybe Volibear's pack. They can be portrayed as evil and have shamens, like the Udyr/sej story.

I also don't think she should have melee abilities. This is not something I would associate with her as a witch. Perhaps a one in a while auto attack enhancing passive that does something cool, like drain health/mana, lower cooldowns or something else fun.

Champions dont always leave behind bodies. So the 'if it collides with a dead champion' doesnt work. Maybe change it to a DOT, and if its on a champion when it dies, it turns into a huge swarm that infects nearby enemies.

Maybe give her the ability to shrink or curse champions, lowering their stats? Perhaps make her cursed based? While being able to curse herself for benefits.
