New Skins and reworks getting worse

I thought I would just post on here while I was on the forums (because I never get on them) what I thought about the direction of new skins and reworks.

IMO, the new stuff is starting to get more and more bland. What I mean by that is less detailed. It almost looks as though they took some of the old stuff and used a smudge brush and Gaussian blur tool on them. As with the new Alistar changes for example.

Is it not supposed to get more detailed with better technology? I personally like the new rift, but but less detailed skins is not the way to go IMO. The skins should be more detailed than the backdrop. I personally have a hard time tracking soft surfaces on top of soft surfaces, but maybe that is just me.

I wanted to post this before more and more reworks and skins have this happen to them. Skins should be sharper and more detailed than previous versions.

What do you guys think?

I think you should go play DOTA 2. Naw man, the new artworks are much better. The background are far cleaner and have much more detail. As for the actual in game models, I think its fine, because I prefer they new models as opposed to the pizza feet ones. EDIT: PArticles are also getting sexier. Check out Arclight Vel Koz and Fire Cracker Jinx.

You would rather have these new ones? They just look like cheap knockoffs!

It wouldn't load 2 for me, so i had to make a new link.

i agree with you about the skins lacking details, the reason they are doing this is because they want everything to look equal to the new summoners rift. If you look at the summoners rift right now, it is actually more blended than our old rift. I think they are going for a cleaner version of the game.

yes, but the if everything is smoothed out too much, then things start to blend together. For example, you wouldn't want to view a video in 480p resolution, you would want 1080p resolution when watching a video because everything is more clear and defined. There is a difference between cleanness and defined.

Having all the skins be smoothed out makes them look more cartoony and bland and not defined and clear.

I really want to know: when your in the middle of a game, concentrating on winning, are you really going to notice all of the details on skin/champion? And besides, all of the texture updates are just temporary fixes until they get a legitimate visual update.

It actually could. Muted characters on a muted background would make some people lose lose visual crispness in the middle of a fight. It's not something everyone thinks about unless you notice it or pay attention, but being a graphic artist, I can tell you that there is a lot more to looking good in visuals. What pulls your eye to where, implied lines, contrast, fidelity, etc.

Imagine if you put 2 things behind lightly frosted glass that slightly blurred out the images. You will lose the edge and the images/items will run together slightly. When this happens, say in LoL during a frantic teamfight, it could mean the difference between reacting and not reacting to something.

Again, this isn't something most people think about or even notice, but it can potentially cause issues that people don't realize.

Exactly! Too bright.....more unrealistic. Darker=realistic.
