[October MCCC] Champion Concept: Levren, the Reminiscent
Here's something for the October MCCC ( http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/QO7yfbMZ-october-mccc-memories-reborn ). Instead of making a new champion, I decided to reimagine an old champion with the new framework, since it fit the changes at the time. Note that this is based on an old, old, OLD piece of work. Way back when, I barely knew anything of the lore, and don't even remember if summoners were fleshed out as they were - I think back then, I thought of them as the way they are now. I feel a little bad bringing it up, but since it's very well linked with the theme, I wanted to put a little effort into it again. The original champion: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=53002 . If you have questions about how he qualifies for the competition, notes are available at the bottom.
Levren, the Reminiscent
Appearance A thin man clad in a faded purple hooded robe. His hair is a faded grey, various pale colors in splotches on his clothing and face. His garb is adorned by a number of fractured chain fragments, held together like a patchwork chain shirt. Attacks by throwing fragments of energy, each shaped like a link of his chain.
Lore: Story:
At first, the change brought Levren peace. He had always been in tune with those around the world who established links, who fought through others. But when they all vanished, it left him with a sense of peace. Without his influence, he could return to a more normal life. To go about through his daily life, earn a living like a normal being.
But though everybody else had forgotten, he hadn't. It still nagged at the edge of his mind, and the memories of a hundred battles, lost to the sands of time... It couldn't have just disappeared. Even though he can barely hear those beings anymore, they still had to exist. He could still feel their influence, gone from his life but still guiding him in some faint way.
It had to be real. If only others remembered what he remembered. The past can't just have vanished. The world needs to remember the beings it once held. Whenever he thinks back on those times, the familiar feelings of strength and of guidance. He couldn't be the only one to remember. It can't be his sanity slipping, he can't be the only one to know...
Perhaps he could remind everybody of the summoners.
Lore: Secret Challenge
Levern's Journal, May 15, 25 CLE
It's hard to believe it, but I've finally settled into things here at the Institute. The constant battles are a strain, and I still haven't gotten used that weird feeling when multiple summoners attempt to use me for both sides. I don't recall the name, but it's always such a foreign sensation. But I'm glad that summoners aren't as mysterious as they once were. To think that I've seen then, been with them on the streets... Some of them have seen into my mind, just as I've gained some understanding of theirs. I'm still not sure what purpose I serve in the Institute, but it's been satisfying.
I just wish I could get some time away from it all. The link's supposed to fade after the fighting's done, but I always have a nagging voice, a little more memory... It can be hard to distinguish where the summoners stop and where I start. I like the League, but sometimes I'd like a little peace. I wonder if I could get away from it somehow?
Levern's Journal, June 12, 25 CLE
Things have been... a little weird. I'm no longer hearing the summoners' voices whenever a match ends. I mean, it's great that the link's fading, and that things have been a little more normal, but I don't know. When I speak with others after a fight, they say that they don't even remember who's controlling them anymore. It sounds like the magic in the League is fading somehow. If the power that links summoners to champions is fading... Well, I guess I'm now experiencing what everybody else usually experienced? It really is easier for everybody else, when it's all said and done when the fight's over. But at this rate... Has there ever been an ex-champion before? I look into any fighters who have left the League. At this rate, maybe I'll be one of them.
Levren's Journal, July 1, 25 CLE(?)
I'm not going crazy, right? When I woke up to head towards the Institute today, I barely saw anybody. The place was a major center of activity, but it was just... Gone. I'm looking through my old entries, but there are only a few mentions of the League, of the Institute of War, of Summoners... I still remember them, but why haven't I written much about them before? And why doesn't anybody mention them anymore?
I just hope these notes remain in place. It's... weird to see things in my own writing, but not be sure if I'm the same. According to this, last month, I was on the battlefield, caught in another skirmish when Noxians made a play... I remember a match, but a skirmish? This is just a war?
Levren's Journal, July 4th, 25 C??
It's all gone now. The voices have been quiet ever since months ago. The summoners are... gone. At least, as far as I know. Nobody else remembers the term "Summoner", and from the papers I've read and the places I've been, it's just been... War. The League isn't around to help with diplomacy, to resolve conflicts, anything at all. So, it's back to the old standbys. Fighting, politics, arguments...
I'm not sure this is best for everything. I mean, I didn't like every Summoner. Some were shallow, and got angry easily. Others were... Quiet. Distant, even though I could see what they thought. But there were some good ones, some I could see everyday, some that I liked. And now, they're just... Gone. It's a change. I'm not sure if it's a change for the better or worse. But if they're just gone, what can I do about it? I mean, I'm just one person, and I'm not even sure if people remember what I've done anymore.
I guess I can find a little peace now. I haven't heard any voices in ages, so that's something. Maybe I should just get away from it all. Maybe find a place to settle down and rest. Or maybe I can just keep fighting like I usually do. It's weird, thinking that the next time I fight, I'll really be putting my life on the line again.
One step at a time. First, I just have to find a place to start over.
Levren's Journal: September 10th, ???
The voices are back.
Things have been quiet for a while, and I've been managing. The League faded, but apparently I still had a good amount stashed from my time as a Champion. Or, rather, my time working as a mercenary. I'm not sure how it was preserved, but I spent a little bit winding down, trying to get my mind off of it.
But yesterday, I heard the voices again. The summoners aren't gone, they're just... Distant. Further away.
I'm not going insane. They exist. And if they exist, they might still have an impact on the world. I don't know how, but they could do something. I have to let others know, I have to show them if that's what it takes.
I don't know where to start, but I don't think I can just settle down. Not while I still know they exist.
Special: Secret Challenge
Harrowing Skin: Caster Minion skin. Trim off a bunch of the access, get a proper fitting under his robe, and pass him a wand for shooting bolts of energy. Candy: Now and Later
**Gameplay: ** Levren is meant to fit a specific niche for AD Carries. His damage is average for a carry, and he utterly lacks mobility. That combined with his limited range make him a risky character to play alone. However, he brings something that's rare on carries: Hard CC on a very short cooldown, and an ult which help him to stay in the fight long enough to apply it on a specific target.
**Character and Ability Details: **
Health: 390 (+85/lvl) - Mid Health Regen: 5.5 (+0.7/lvl) - Mid (High for Ranged) Mana: 225 (+40/lvl) - Mid Mana Regen: 6 (+0.5/lvl) - Low Range: 525 (Ranged, Low) Attack Damage: 48 (+2.8/lvl) - Mid Attack Speed: 0.651 (+4%/lvl) - High Armor: 19 (+3.5/lvl) - Mid/High Magic Resist: 30 (+0/lvl) - Mid
Innate: Lingering Link After using a Summoner Spell, Levren gains increased attack speed for a short time. The duration of this increases for summoner spells with longer cooldowns.
Attack Speed: 50%/75%/100% (At 1/11/16) Duration: 3 Seconds - 7 Seconds (The duration is based on the cooldown of the summoner spell. Clairvoyance is the lowest at 3 seconds, most other summoners are at 5 seconds, while Flash, Teleport, and Revive give 7 seconds.)
Comments: His innate thematically fits, and can give him a burst of attack when it matters most. It adds another level of decision making when picking summoner spells - any of them can work and can let him get a little more benefit when fighting, but isn't enough of a buff that you'd really want to preserve your summoner spell exclusively for it - You'll get just as much use out of a well-placed summoner, but can get a little bonus if you stay in the fight after. It also means he's a little more slanted towards offensive spell use, rather than defensive use.
Q: Establish Link Levren shoots a fragment of his power outwards. If it makes contact with an enemy champion, they take damage and are briefly revealed.
Details: Damage: 60/100/140/180/220 (+.5 AP) Reveal Duration: 4/4.5/5/5.5/6 seconds Mana Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10
This is a a colliding linear skill shot which travels at a speed of 1500, and has a range of 1000 units. It will only trigger on enemy champions.
Comments: This is a simple skillshot, primarily enabling him to land autoattacks when he would not otherwise be able to. It can also be used as a minor poke tool, or to try to finish proccing his W. It's not heavy damage, but it has the longest range of his abilities, and lets him try to get a last shot in if appropriate.
W: Dissonant Strike Passive: Levren's attacks and abilities bring buried memories of previous fights. Each of his attacks and abilities apply a stack of Disruption to his target. The 6th stack will consume the stacks and briefly stun the target.
Active: Levren's next attack deals additional damage and applies 2 bonus stacks of Disruption.
Details: Passive Stun Duration: 0.5/0.55/0.6/0.65/0.7 seconds Passive Stack Duration: 6 seconds Active Damage Bonus: 20/40/60/80/100 (+0.4 AP) Mana Cost: 30/33/36/39/42 Cooldown: 12/10/8/6/4 seconds
This active is an auto-attack reset and modifies his next attack. The bonus damage cannot crit.
Comments: This is Levren's main niche, in comparison to other ADCs. While it can be tough to get up, he has a brief but reliable piece of hard crowd control. The passive is a small bonus, and can give some scattered stuns over periods of time. However, Levren will still go down to any focus from multiple enemies, and his short range puts him at risk when using it. He can use it in conjunction with his E to quickly pull off a stun, but using these will drain him.
I'm toying with whether it would be better to give the active the current effect, or to give it an additional autoattack or increased attack speed for a number of attacks. All of them would be potent and achieve the same basic effect, but it would change the synergy with on-hit effects, which is already somewhat potent.
E: Moment of Clarity Levren focuses himself in preparation for a quick strike. After using this ability, his next ability he uses costs no mana and has its cooldown drastically reduced.
Mana Cost: 120/115/110/105/100 Cooldown Reduction: The next ability has its cooldown lowered 40/50/60/70/80% Cooldown: 60/55/50/45/40
Details: This cooldown reduction is multiplicative with any other cooldown reduction that Levren may have. It stacks beyond the normal 40% limit, allowing for a theoretical maximum of 12% cooldown with max CDR.
Comments: This mechanic gives Levren a few unique options, letting him throw out a combination of his skills for best effect. He can throw out a little more harass during laning phase, get a much quicker stun off while he's in the middle of things, or potentially even get his ultimate with a short enough cooldown to see it twice in an extended fight. However, it takes a bit of planning to figure out when to use this ability, and its gated with a high mana cost and a long cooldown itself - long enough to make it only usable once per fight, but short enough that you're not only spending it on his ult. And sometimes, you just can't wait for this to come up, or need to use his ult in a reactionary manner, rather than just throwing it out.
R: Restore Link Levren can tap into the traces of his old links, harnessing the power that remains with him.
Passive: Summoner spell cooldowns are reduced by 10/12.5/15%.
Active: Levren partially fades from existence. He instantly removes all crowd control effects from himself. For a brief time afterwards, Levren cannot be targeted. He can still move, attack, and otherwise function normally during this time.
Mana Cost: 200/175/150 Duration: 2/2.5/3 seconds Cooldown: 120/90/60 seconds
Commentary: This ability is Levren's other unique niche. While there are some Zhonya-like abilities, they always do something up-front and heavily restrict the user. In this case, I wanted to give him some limited invulnerability and the ability to maneuver in the meantime, but keep it short enough that he can't overdo it. This has to be used carefully and is not an effective escape, especially with his lack of mobility.
