League of Legends: MMORPG Version

Greetings LoL Players,

As you can see from the title of my discussion, I'm going to talk about LoL as a MMORPG version and hopefully we can have a non-toxic discussion along the way.

Recently, when I saw that RIOT released the KDA PopStars MV on YouTube it made me wanna play the game again. When my in-game and irl friends who also left the game saw it the MV, they also wanted to come back but the game itself is not appealing anymore (or should I say it became dull). But, a sudden idea popped up while we were in the middle of discussion and that was "What if LoL is/or have an MMORPG version?". I don't mean to compare but look at DOTA 2, it was mostly based on Warcraft where they contain the identical version of races and classes. Just imagine how fun it would be to play LoL as an MMORPG. I have no ill-intention on comparing LoL to DOTA 2, I just wanted to make a point on how game changing it would be if RIOT made an MMORPG version to LoL.

I'd love this. The MMORPG genre is so dead at the moment. It'd be amazing if Riot bought it back to life :P!

Thanks a lot for giving me your input in my discussion, I really appreciate it. As for MMORPG being so dead, I hate to admit it but you are indeed correct. Hopefully, if/when RIOT makes an MMORPG version of LoL they wouldn't make it heavily P2W game. I don't mind if they make it either Buy-to-Play or Subscription based game as long as they stay as far away as possible from Free-to-Play which tends to rely so much on P2W aspect.

No problem! I'm happy to be part of the discussion. It's a great idea. Hopefully Riot has the time to give it a shot :3! They could make such cool cinematic to accompany it. They already do great work with their cinematic videos. Yeah. Pay to win elements is a big part of what gutted the genre.

Personally I'd prefer buy to play. I'd probably be content with Wow, however I can't afford the subscription as I'm unemployed :P At least if its buy to play its something I can ask for at christmas/ my birthday xD Ah, the life of a job-less hermit :'(

I totally agree about RIOT making such a cool cinematic. They should totally give it a try because they'll totally attract a lot of MMORPG players into their community.

I would absolutely love a MMORPG version of League of Legends. There's already rumors about this going on. + the big lore updates and the Runeterra map... It would be so amazing to really play within the different places in Runeterra. I'm thinking about Ornn now; how cool would it be if Ornn was in a MMORPG game, where you can go to your own place to forge weapons etc. :O

Hopefully, the rumors come true one day. Applying all the lore of LoL on an MMORPG version would be tricky for RIOT, but if they can implement it correctly then all I'm going to do would be worldwide exploration and non-stop questing. I'll be totally picking assassin class like Zed, Akali, Katarina, or Talon as my character and dive more into their origin but tbh I just love assassins.
