Future Skins for Camille

There have been multiple posts recently regarding skins for Camille, but I wanted to create this post to create discussion as to what exactly future skins should bring to Camille. Also, Rito, if you're reading this, I remember you saying in the recent skin update video that you're looking to take ideas, so maybe this can serve as inspiration! ^-^

First off, let's talk about the existing skins for Camille (excluding the iG skin as that was made with the input of iG, rather than internal Riot artists).

Program Camille

It's no secret that Program Camille is not popular among most Camille mains. Why? The issue with Program Camille is that it takes away from the feel of baseline Camille. Camille to us Camille mains is someone dignified, someone with a commanding aura. Her voice lines certainly contribute to that feeling of confidence that Camille and her players have, with a touch of an imperious attitude. And while skins take some liberty with the feeling of the base character (as they should, to make it exciting), it should never make the character feel alien. The #1 problem with this skin is that it makes Camille look like a creature. Yes, the Program skins are artificial beings, but they at least preserve the basic feel of the champion. Case in point, Program Nami still holds on to the core identity of Nami as a majestic, captivating being. Program Camille just doesn't feel right, her head design contributing the most to this.

Coven Camille

Coven Camille, in my opinion (but one that resonates with many), is a drop-dead gorgeous skin. It's definitely in my top five favorite skins. But why? Baseline Camille is hextech-augmented, "science-fictiony", whereas Coven Camille is a eldritch, arcane creation. The skin presents a cool feeling like Program Camille and Baseline Camille do, but where it succeeds where Program Camille failed is in staying in touch with Camille's dignified and cool attitude. The design of Coven Camille's outfit suggests a sense of "royalty", the Ebony Ram headpiece making her look like a cut above the rest, but nonetheless presenting the sort of seductive charisma a domineering leader inspires in his followers.

Future Suggestions

Now that I've talked about her two main skins, let's get on to what sort of skins could be made available for Camille.

-Blood Moon

Blood Moon has a lot of potential for Camille, especially considering her Hookshot ability and overall kit (like a ninja), and Blood Moon's Japanese-inspired thematic. The underlying sense of dread in Blood Moon could tie in very well with how Camille's victims feel as she cuts them down; that powerlessness to escape. Her kit, when used well, absolutely dictates how a battle is fought. Camille's Q is like an execution, tearing her opponents to pieces. Her W slows her victims, make escape unlikely while her E almost certainly makes sure they can't get away. And, with that Blood Moon demonic possession, tied with her ult, would make sure that they absolutely, cannot, and will not escape as she slashes them down with empowered autos, sacrificing them for the Blood Moon.

-Chaos and Order

I think Chaos and Order could be a good opportunity for Camille, in that I feel like it could bring out a facet of Camille's personality that not that many players think about. Camille is certainly a very grey person (at least lore-wise), but at the very base of her is a desire to protect and maintain order. She isn't the cold-hearted assassin that people mistake her for. I firmly believe that the person she was when she loved Hakim is still alive. After all, does she not express some sort of remorse of how far she has come with the methods that she has used? We all have lines. I may have crossed mine. Thus, I think Dawnbringer Camille, not Nightbringer, could be an interesting way to present the more "light" side of Camille.

-Event Horizon

In all honesty, I feel that an Event Horizon skin could go either way for Camille, Cosmic or Dark Star, for the reasons I've alluded to above. If Dark Star is pursued, I only urge the artistic team to not "creature-fy" her. Find a way to turn that commanding and imperious aura into something that is commanding, and incomprehensible.

-Mecha Kingdoms

PSA: I'd actually like this skin to be not created. Camille has a certain "lightness" and agility with her kit. Mecha Kingdoms would clash with this.

-Steel Valkyries

A good opportunity for a decent Epic skin for Camille. It doesn't stray away from her Hextech-augmentation thematic, and her lore of someone upholding absolute order (but not like Judge Dredd like a certain someone in this AU) ties in well with this AU. However, I specifically state Epic and not Legendary as I feel, in my humble opinion, that Legendary skins should be a thorough re-imagination of a champion without changing their core identity. For example: I wouldn't have expected True Damage Ekko to be legendary, but I can still tell it's an Ekko skin. He carries the confident, bold trail-blazing manner of baseline Ekko. This should be the point of a legendary skin, a surprise that isn't alienating. I would expect a Steel Valkyries skin.

-Battle Academia

Headmistress Camille. 'Nuff said

-Omen of the Dark

Honestly, what an underrated skin line. I don't even play almost all the champions in this line, and despite there being only ONE epic skin, the few snippets of lore and character design (albeit most of them are ageing) and splashes, I am absolutely drawn in by this AU. I want to more, because there is a sense of veiled mystery that beguiles further exploration. And, with Camille's potential due to her grey personality, she could be the tool Riot needs to round-out this AU, whether by being a dark, horrifying, grave projector of the Queen's power (or a potential rival), or by being a lone bastion against the tide of evil.
