Possible New Nocturne Abilities for when he is reworked? Please?
So I have been playing a lot of Nocturne recently, and I noticed that he is supposed to be considered an assassin but he does not actually build full damage anymore as he isn't useful if he does that. So I sent this to Riot support yesterday...
Hi Riot Support, I am just curious because when the assassin update came out, I was a little upset to see that Nocturne wasn't included in the roster for those champions considering how old he is compared to others that were included in the minor reworks much like Ekko or Zed. I was wondering as to when we might hope to see either one of two things happen.
- When will Nocturne have his primary role changed to fighter or tank because he builds much like a fighter or tank nowadays. or
- When will Nocturne receive a rework to his kit or have some kind of minor improvement with updated ability icons? Maybe when Aatrox gets a rework? Potentially?
The response was that they pretty much were not able to help me with my concern due to lack of connection between departments.
So since I received that response, I thought about maybe a potential rework to his W maybe, E and R.
Q - Duskbringer This ability is fine as is but it needs to be updated visually much like Nocturne and his skins and the effects on those skins.
W - Shroud of Darkness Two things can happen to this ability to make it more interesting.
The first is that when the player successfully blocks a spell, the player is not only given double the passive attack speed buff, but is also given an immediate burst of damage within 350 range of Nocturne that deals magic damage scaling off of 5% of your bonus health and applying a base 15% movement speed slow to the targets hit for 1-2 seconds scaling with rank. in favor of giving this damage buff to him however, the passive attack speed on his W would be toned down a little bit.
Th other option is that it stays the same but maybe add some sort of visual notification that nocturne has successfully blocked a spell instead of him laughing softly and just getting the attack speed.
E - Nightmarish Corruption: Costs 60/65/70/75/80 Mana, Range - 750 (NEW IDEA) Deals 70/110/150/190/230/ base magic damage (+80% Bonus AP) in an expanding AoE for 3 seconds and the damage is done over time not and does not simply do the damage listed for each tick (this would tick 2 times a second). Any champion caught in the zone after the 3 seconds is terrified for 1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0/2.25 seconds.
Other units are simply slowed for 20/25/30/35/40% and lose 15% of their attack speed for 4 seconds(? I have no idea it just sounds like a cool ability) while still receiving the damage listed.
R - Encroaching Umbra: Costs 100/125/15 Mana, Range - 3000/3750/4500 (NEW IDEA) 1st activation: Nocturne gives the Nearsight Debuff to all enemy champions (the dark passive on his current ultimate) and can then preform the other active portion of Encroaching Umbra by simply activating the ability again within the next 7 seconds.
2nd activation: Nocturne winds up for 1 second and then launches himself in a targeted direction in which he grows in size based on distance traveled and deals 100/175/250 (+90% Bonus AD) physical damage to 250/375/500 (130% Bonus AD) physical damage.
Both the hitbox and damage increase based on a percentage of the distance that is traveled. The hitbox can grow up to three times it's initial size and each enemy hit reduces the dame of Encroaching Umbra by 5% down to a minimum of 40% damage to subsequent targets. Once the channel is complete for Encroaching Umbra, it can not be canceled much like how kled ultimate works.
Upvote this so that the rework teams may one day see it? I think these abilities have potential to be cooler and make Nocturne live up to his lore of being the literal Darkrai of League. Except.... he is far more brutal and not nearly as forgiving ;P
