Interesting Kassadin Rift walk

I just realized an interesting idea as i looked at Kassadin 's splash art.

I'll get right to explaining what I would personally like to see happen to his ultimate if it were in the process of a complete re-work:

R: Riftwalk

  • Passive: While on cooldown, Kassadin gains 20% CDR and 5/7.5/10% increased Ability power (the CDR gained from this passive does not affect the cooldown of Kassadin's Riftwalk

  • Active: after a 2 second channel, Kassadin leaves the physical plane, unable to be targeted but being unable to attack for 3/4/5 seconds. During this duration, Kassadin can not be seen (even by pink wards), and his movement speed increases by 30/45/60 for the duration. When returning to the physical realm, Kassadin generates an explosion (250 unit radius around him) dealing 200/280/360 (+30/35/40% AP) damage.

There would also need to be a global sound that alerts both teams that Kassadin has used his ultimate.

  • Cooldown: 75/65/55 seconds

Riftwalk does not currently do Kassadin's character much justice as he simply warps around and doesn't have anything particularly spectacular to look at. He is depicted as being able to generate explosions from abilities like his Null sphere in the lore, but I don't get that feeling when playing him as of right now. (the ability is also quite broken)

This ability would bring Kassadin back to life in terms of being an assassin and being very mobile, but not simply being able to warp away from situations on a whim (unless ofc you are low on mana).

Kass is fine as he is. The only thing that really needs a change is his Q, and I don't even know what to change it to. But the rest of his kit is fun, effective, and thematically appropriate.

Whenever I think of changing his Q, I want to think of a similarity to Brand's Pillar of Flame, Morgana's Pool, and Malzahar's pool. It would be cool his he stood there in a channel while creating a small pool below a targeted area that greatly slowed his targets while also dealing damage and remaining there for a few seconds while he could engage with E and W. But that type of ability would change him into more of a mage rather than an Assassin...

another idea (that would be better for his kit as an assassin) could be that he fires a skill shot that generates a small aoe of damage. Standing close to the explosion would grant Kassadin a spell shield and a brief increase in AP + MR.

Kassadin alraedy got his visual and gameplay update no point in bringing him up again

Ryze has had a few updates... a FEW... both visual and gameplay. Kassadin having one rework is unspeakable?

Kassadin's gameplay was only TWEAKED. His W was the only thing actually "Reworked" but that was pretty minor if not moderate. He only had minor changes and ability affect changes to his Q. His riftwalk simply had different scalings and a range reduction.

Ryze had only 1 visual update, the one that he got now, the other were texture/spell updates. Kassadin however got his visual update already. Champions like Mordekaiser also get many reworks and he is going to get another one since he still hasn't gotten his visual update, same with Morgana

Umm the OP is talking about a gameplay update, not a visual update. Either you understood him inncorrectly, or I want some of what you've been smoking

They already have Kassadin on the list for the Assassin update. Not that he will get a rework but he's probably definitely gonna get some changes

Sounds real broken. Not much counterplay because you can't see him coming. And Riftwalk is part of his identity.

This would still work as a "riftwalk", but instead of a teleportation, it would work as a dimensional shift where he is briefly out of the physical realm and comes back to deal burst aoe. The one problem is that he could potentially nullify ults from people like Karthus if he times it.

Whats the counterplay to it? Atleast you can see current Kass coming near to you.

it's meant to give him a strong engage, but he can not use it as an escape (unless his enemies can't kill him in the 2 second channel or use CC to stop him).
