My one concern is clarity. It needs to be very obvious this is still Volibear. Voli's walk and animation are quite iconic, to me, so keeping those animations would help a lot. His silhouette should be similar too.
The owl theme deserves to be its own champion
Great idea, but I don't think riot would do it for two reasons: 1.) Too much like Blizzard's Moonkin Druids and 2.) The Owl "face/head" deviates too much from his bear personoa. However, this artwork is beautiful and well done, and if reworked into an Atermis/Hunter type, slimmed down, female owl mask, a femal Jhin meets Ashe...the possibilities are endless. How about a Jungling Markmen that when it kills the Jungle Minion it recruits that Jungle beast as its pet?

Dude this would be so sick. You know the RPG skins they released, like the shield braum and swiftbolt varus? There could be a whole line of D&D/Rpg-esque monster line. You could have owlbear Volibear, kobold Twitch, an orc Darius, beholder Vel'Koz, bulette Rek'Sai... Volibear is sorely neglected in the skins department. He has several, but none of them are very good. In fact, the popular sentiment seems to be that Tibbers has better skins than Volibear does.
This skin, if made and released, would go a very long way toward fixing Voli's skin problems.
