*URGENT* Request to the Institute: Journal Investigation
Report to the Institute of War:
This was all that was recovered from the site. A catastrophe that large- it can't be natural. This investigation needs to be handled with the utmost discretion and caution. Even though the situation is under control, we still don't know where the suspect may be. If word gets out that whatever caused an entire mountain to collapse into the sea was out there, it would be chaos. We need every available asset we have devoted to tracking this thing down.
Send us your evaluation when you’re finished with the transcript. Again, discretion is the crux of this situation. If it was discovered that Noxian scouts were out of their legal jurisdiction in a foreign neutral principality, even if it was in the case of investigating a “natural” anomaly, we could have another war on our hands.
As stated, this was all that we could recover. It's a miracle that a victim’s body was found at all, truly.

#Entry One -Day Eight:
We began our expedition nearly a week ago... but boy, does it be feelin’ a bit longer. We had heard the legends of a brilliant cave formation deep in the northern reaches of Kaladoun before, but with this new evidence, we're sure to discover somethin’... perhaps even somethin’ to bring back coin with. We've been traveling on this damn river for six days. Everything they've said about the Serpentine River is true. It's ruthless at times, but just as it seems to take, it also gives. Thao pulled in an incredible haul of fish. Hell, we even had to throw a few back there were so many. Of course, we had just lost half our supplies just a mile up the river anyway havin' to deal with one of the many curves o' this blasted river, but it all seemed to work out. Donnal is on edge a bit, not sure why. Freljordians… they're good for one thing as far as I'm concerned. As long as he navigates this rickety excuse of a raft on these waters, I don't care.
#Entry Two -Day Thirteen:
I can't believe it! We finally reached the end of this ridiculous river! Every other day there was some other curve we had to adjust the rafts to, and another good day’s worth o’ food off the deck. So many damn knots... Anyway, we're all gettin' a bit antsy now. The cave we got reports of should be just on the cliff's edge due south once this thing empties out into the ocean. So damn cold! Donnal loves it of course, and Thao barely speaks enough to know anyway (if only Donnal would show as much courtesy). I'd rather be eaten by some bleedin’ monster as long as he's got a warm belly than have to live out here like the rest o' those barbarians.

#Entry Three -Day Fifteen:
Gotta admit, the view ain't bad. Whoever found this cave really missed out on havin' the thing to himself. I've never seen formations like these before. Not in Noxus, Ionia, not even in those damn Yordle caves they explode out o’ the ground. We made camp just in the mouth of the cave. It seems like the reports of a landslide were true. Whatever this place was, it ain't supposed to be here now.

#Entry Four -Day Eighteen:
Good news and bad news. Bad news: We've been down here for... what is it... three days now? Whatever seismic activity was goin' on that opened this place up didn't stop at a little rumblin'. An hour into the cave expedition, the opening collapsed behind us. Lucky for us, there are still a few openings overhead that let a bit of sun in. Thao brought enough torches anyway that it shouldn't be a problem. But that ain't important. Good news: The crystal formations are incredible! I ain't seen anythin' like 'em before! The walls are scarred deep like some big ol' ugly mother clawed his way in here in a fit. Either way, these scars are filled in with gems and crystalline geodes that ain't anywhere to be found in Valoran. Most of 'em are pale green, some blood red, some black. All of 'em seem a bit off, like somethin' ain't quite right. But I don't care, I'm not goin' to have the time to be worryin’ when I'm carryin' around half o’ Demacia's treasury in my pockets!
#Entry Five -Day Nineteen:
Things ain't lookin' too good. We kept looking around to find a way back but it seems any path's totally collapsed. Thao is quiet, Donnal won't keep his damn mouth shut... just as usual. We're all a bit nervous, but it seems the only way outta' here is to keep goin’ deeper.
#Entry Six -Day Twenty:
I swear, Donnal’s lost it. "Old Freljordian legend" he said, he didn't see the damn thing but he won't shut his mouth about it. "Skin as white as snow", "...carrying chains made outta' the mountain...", "... like a demon out o' hell itself." Started about a half a day in when me 'n Thao were asleep. Donnal started screamin' while on watch duty. Said he heard a rumble like the mountain was wakin' up. Kept repeatin’ a name o’er and o’er… “Vin-“, “Vein-“, somethin’ or other. I didn't pay much attention. I packed it up and hoofed it on from there. Another half day we went in, and Donnal went off sayin' he heard the thing again when he was scoutin' up ahead for some light. Crazy bastard. This cave, whatever caused it, just won't seem to end, like it goes through the whole damn mountain. Still got a bit o’ sun, but it seems like it’s the last patch for the rest of the mountain... even if we find a way out. We're runnin' low on food here. Everyone's edgy. Thao's even mumblin' a bit.

Thao... I... I can't believe it.... Donnal was right. And Thao's gone. I saw the thing... somethin' like that... it ain't part of this world. Just ain’t… We've all heard the rumors. The damn Institute lettin' a monster like that run around their damn lily forests... But this one... it seems different. No one actually thought about no “Darkin” actually existin' before, even when that one hellspawn apparently just showed up at their doorstep one day. But this one... it can't be it. The one they got over there is supposin' to be red.... like blood, carryin’ a big ol’ cleaver around. But this one, this one is white... like it ain't been in the sun for centuries. It was frozen in place like a statue. Aye, it looked like one too, until we heard the thing breathin'. Sounded like the faintest o' breezes. Almost sickly. It didn't talk, it just seemed to stare into nothin'... like it didn't have a care in the world. Didn't even move when we got close to it. Hell, we wouldn't have even noticed the damn thing if Thao didn't point it out. Thao... never seen the lad act like that before. Took off in a heartbeat once he saw the thing. Son of a bitch broke his neck fallin' a couple dozen feet off a ledge. Didn't see it comin, the poor bastard. Donnal went off in his old tongue, prayin' to the thing like it was a god or somethin'. I told the idiot not to bother the damn thing. He won't stop. Hopefully the thing stays the way it is... and those noises we heard weren’t real.... I don't care though, I'm just wantin' to take my loot and get out o' here before I go runnin’ off some ledge. But still, those crystals... I bet that thing made 'em. Probably came in here a swingin’. About what I ain’t sure of, nor care. I'm sure it won't miss a few, or so... Whatever's got that thing chained down ain't lookin' too bad either. Maybe we can chip a bit off... THAT'LL fetch a fair purse I reckon. And if things keep goin’ the way they’re goin’… maybe I won’t have ta be worryin’ about sharin’ a piece with ol’ Donnal either. I got it now! “Viinculus”… that’s what that savage's been rantin’ about… maybe he can keep his damn mouth nice n’ shut about it once he goes “fallin’ off a ledge”.
