Dynamic Draft removal: suggestion (reposted from EU Boards)

As you heard many servers got their normal Draft Pick eliminated. Riot Games are planning to remove your Draft Pick as well in their "ideal world" .

So, here's what Nakoruru wrote:

Hello, Riot Games.

Speaking from the hearts of Normal Draft fans, I suggest to turn on Normal Draft back in several weeks with removal of Blind Pick. During that you'll be collecting feedback from players of both queues and then you'll decide which queue should remain. With the removal of one normal queue the matching time will be lowered for the survived one.

I like to see how players are swapping roles in the Draft mode. It's usually a kind conversation, because you know that Riot Games stands behind you and nobody can take the role you got. Sure, sometimes there are players who go their preferable role anyway, but unlike in Blind mode, here you can say for sure who had lack of patience or communication: Player 1 (original mid) or Player 2 (original support) at the mid lane. Role swap must be a mutual pact of agreement, not a war or a race ("I typed mid first!").

We would all like to see what Blind pick fans would say (with the exception of low queue times) about their queue removal.

Blind Pick: Pros:

  • Low queue time
  • Low time of champion select
  • You can pick any champion if you are fast enough

Cons:

  • Holywars about roles
  • Champions who have the most amounts of bans will show you why they get bans

Ideas to implement to this queue if it survives:

  • "Role or Champion" pick
  • Champion bans (it will require increasing of free-to-play champion pool, especially if Riot Games likes to make 5 bans per team, so fresh accounts could pick something)

Draft Pick: Pros:

  • Your role is assured by Riot Games, no need to prove it by speed-typing or instalocking
  • You can have several champions banned
  • No mirror games
  • "Autofill" option which helps you to play the roles of your choice
  • You can warm up at your role or champion before going to ranked queues

Cons:

  • High queue time (if you picked Mid/Top)
  • Players should spend a lot of time at champion select
  • These games when "autofill" finds you the role

Ideas to implement to this queue if it survives:

  • Blind Pick players should play with us to learn new ways to communicate if they want to play mid or top

We are choosing between many low-quality games and high-quality pick-ordered games which take time to match up.

If a master wants to make something good, he usually increases the quality of the product (by spending more time creating it). Quantity is required just to produce more things of the same quality (or lower).

Dear Riot Games, League of Legends community (and Earth community) is a very raw "material". We are changing after your decisions (good or bad). Yes, you are trying to get rid of bad "materials". We are not ready for Blind-Pick-only queue. We are not in the ideal world where nobody fights for their roles. People are selfish in nature, there are not many players who would pick the remaining role. Players want to carry games, so there'll always be the lack of supports - those who help other to carry. And it's better to find those supports for your games than trying to carve a support from mid-top mains. That is my opinion.

Violins made in factories usually have defects (low quality, high quantity of instruments), so if you want a good violin you should give it to master (or you are good at rebuilding violins), so he could increase its quality. You want to have many good violins (read "games") in the end. But you can achieve it in different ways: producing many bad violins and then trying to increase their quality, or producing lower amounts of violins of good quality while trying to increase their quantity.

Maybe, I could make a survey, but I don't expect more than 10 votes in total :)
