Wizmonk Snow 8-1-2018 Kayn Chapter 1.

A lone Shadow walks through the vally. He can hear distant screams, smell the rivers of blood, see the pain that has scarred this place. Another sick ploy by the Noxians on Demica, the battlefield littered with the captive children of Ionia. His hands open and close as his blades retract and extent with each flex of the wrist, his scarf trailing in the wind as his foggy breath passes through the slits of his mask. His red eyes search for signs of life. He sighs, rolling over a body with his foot, just to be repeatedly disappointed. Suddenly he hears a soft crying, curious he rounds the stone wall. In a small clearing sits a child, his long black hair and small frame soaked with the blood of the Demicans littered around him. His knuckles white as he clings to a pair of sickles on his knees. The shadow approachs him, circling the child, his blades extented at the wrist. As he comes to the childs front he can see hes Ionian, maybe 8 or 9 years of age. His stone grey eyes cold with murder and fear. "What are you doing here?" the Shadow questions. The child falls silent a moment before answering, "Am I free now?" "You are, come with me, I can give you power," the Shadow tells him. The child glares up at him, "Who are you, what power?" The Shadows red eyes brighten as his icy voice answeres, " I am Zed, Leader of the Order of Shadow, and the power to kill any whom oppose you." "Why would I follow you Zed?" the child snarls standing and raising his sickles. "Where else would you go?" questions Zed amused. The child falls silent nodding, "What are you called?" asks Zed. "I have no name," replies the child. " I shall call you Kayn, for you were born from misery," Zed tells him retracting his blades, and looking to the full moon, the wind whistling over the dead battlefield. "Come Kayn," commands Zed, disappearing into the shadows, "Leave your weapons, they have no need anymore." "I can't," Kayn replies his knuckles frozen around the handles as he follows Zed into the forest. Zed leads them back to the temple, eager to train his prodigy. Finally someone to teach the shadow ways to, and maybe one day surpass him.

From experience, kayn is extremely egotistical. He'd, likely even as a younger boy, be hesitant to obey Zed initially due to his young mind doubting that this shadowy figure is anything more important than the noxians he dislikes

Zed is impatient as seen in the story involving jhin, he would likely eventually lose his patience with Kayns ego and put him in his place which is when Kayn would recognize Zeds power and begin to harbor aspirations to surpass him

Swain has a few interactions with kayn that you might want to check out and interpret as you will.
