Revamp of Extra and Custom game modes
With the removal of the Dominion game mode (may it rest in peace) I have finally gotten courage to give voice to my ideas, even if only to know what other community members or even developers think.
So, here it goes.** I have long thought of how cool it would be for League of Legends to have deeper and more customisable Custom game tools.** As an example, imagine a lobby where you set up a game of 5v5 and you enable "cheats" (let's call them than). Once the players are in-game they start giving themselves money and experience and thus instant lategame begins. Meanwhile in another lobby, some friends have set up a game with both urf and all for one enabled.
In my opinion, this would just be the tip of the iceberg, with a huge amount of possibilities in it. It all depends on how many and how much power the tools given to the community have. What if a map editor was available for players who wanted to try and create a custom map? What if a large amount of settings and rules could be edited for custom games?
I have asked myself these and more questions too many a time to just ignore them. I am aware of some of the negative consequences it would bring, such as a slight decrease in the population of normal queues, and the potential imbalance of these hypothetical custom game modes. For the latter, i don't think balance is an issue in this topic, since these modes (at least as I perceive them) are meant for players to goof around. As for the former, after being surprised by how little the percentage of players that played dominion was, I don't think the decrease would be worth worrying about, especially considering how big is the player base in League of Legends and how these modes would probably attract more players.
Seeing how the moba scene is evolving even gave me the idea that maybe content creators could be rewarded with Influence Points, causing there to be more diversity and probably expanding the user base (or maybe I am too optimistic). I think I should summarise my ideas, but I didn't want to make this post even larger. In short, I realise I am not savvy in neither design, marketing or any of this, but I have the feeling that reinforcing community participation and custom content can only be good for a game, and that limiting it's potential and creating a distance between it and its players can't really be good. Just let me know what you think about asking for an overhaul of the custom game tools.
Sorry for the long post, and
Thanks for your time
