Syndra Rework Concept (Make Syndra Meta Again) by LoveYouTooBabe

LoveYouTooBabe here! Just your average player who in his spare time likes to come up with rework concepts (get me a job at riot, a bit of a fantasy) but i think this is one of my favorite concepts of a champion.

Goals:

  • create a somewhat unique passive ability for syndra
  • create a more control dominant control mage
  • preserve the base functionality of her abilities while adding a higher skillcap

Willing to go into greater depth about how I imagine each ability functions if unclear. Would definitely love someone like Meddler or CertainlyT to give their opinions on this.

passive ability: when syndra casts an ability after a brief delay, she releases a shockwave of dark energy which interacts with nearby dormant orb(s) of dark energy causing them to deal magic damage to nearby enemies at a target location.

if a dormant orb(s) is touched by a shockwave, it can create a chain reaction reactivating nearby dormant orb(s), one at a time causing it to deal magic damage to nearby enemies at a target location.

when syndra basic attacks an enemy champion(s) afflicted by hard crowd control effect(s), she siphons their 20% mana or energy to herself over 3secs.

q skill: small cooldown time syndra creates a dense orb of dark energy dealing magic damage to enemies at a target location before it remains dormant at that target location for 6secs.

w skill: medium cooldown time syndra manipulates an enemy minion, monster or dormant orb to her will for 6secs. if syndra manipulates an enemy minion or monster, they become invunerable for the duration or if their health is below 20% health, they are forcibly transformed into an orb.

casting this active ability again, she catapults the manipulated target dealing magic damage to enemies at a target location.

e skill: large cooldown time syndra releases a shockwave dealing magic damage to enemies in a wave, knocking them back. if this ability knocks back a dormant orb(s), it deals magic damage in a line, stunning enemies for 1.5/1.75/2/2.25/2.5secs.

if this ability knocks back a dormant orb(s) at the tip of the wave, the orb(s) gains doubled their normal travel speed, deals bonus true damage and stuns for an additional .5sec at all levels.

r skill: passive: large cooldown time when syndra interacts with an orb(s), it remains dormant at a target location for an additional 1/2/3secs.

syndra creates 3 dense orbs of dark energy, encircling her and gathering nearby dormant orbs for 6secs. casting this active ability again, she fires a single orb dealing magic damage to enemies in a line, bouncing off the first enemy champion(s) hit at a target location, slowing their movement speed for 2secs.

Interresting, You are original, I think. I personally made one rework for syndra.

I think there should be a limit to the times an orb can be "reactivated," since they can probably reactivate each other until they disapper...

when syndra basic attacks an enemy champion(s) afflicted by hard crowd control effect(s), she siphons their 20% mana or energy to herself over 3secs.

Em.... how about just 5%? 20% can mean 400 for champions like Ryze and Anivia... Personally I think a flat amount will also work because many mid laners use energy.

From your wording, I suspect you made q DoT? That is kinda neat, and it certainly will help her zoning, but I say it takes a bit too much thinking. She already has a passive that requires great positioning of her orbs. Giving her a q that requires even more thought will simply be too much, and it will never be used to its full potential besides pro play.

I actually like her q now. If I were to rework it, I would give it a longer cd but grant it charges so late game she doesn't become karthus. Just a thought.

This r is... meh...

Essentially her r became a skill shot and has slow. It might have been a cool concept for other champions, but I seriously don't think Syndra needs any more cc. Making it shoot only 1 orb per click also becomes a bit annoying, and currently you can r and instant Zonya's, but you can't do that anymore for this.

With the passive you suggested, I myself came up with a ultimate. What if Syndra creates 3 orbs (like you suggested), but instead of shooting them, make them form a wall (Veigar style). What I mean is the more orbs she has, the bigger the circle/wall. It creates a interesting synergy with the passive you came up with.

I don't know. I feel like her current r is what making her still playable rather than straight up tier 5.

What do you think?

Wow... I might be able to actually get behind this tbh, the E tho, 2.5 secs is extremely long for a non ult, aoe ability. Keep it how it is rn. The ult’s passive... the only way I’d keep it like that is if W’s passive was actually removed (it resets the orbs) or nerfed to 5 secs, since im assuming her innate is gonna trigger that increase. In terms of the ult Active... is honestly keep it the same, or change the first hit into a skillshot with the rest automatically targeting that person hit... (or honestly jsut keep it the way it is)... The E would have to have its normal dmg decreased to supplement the passive interaction dmg.

I’d also give a CD to how often a sphere may be able to have that passive interaction. A relatively long one at that too (like 10 secs) so it can’t double proc on a sphere, nor would it proc on more than two- three orbs at a time.

Lol, tho in the end I really don’t think she needs much of a rework, maybe just something added to her current passive, or a change to one of the abilities’ passive.
