Chiron - The Tormented Bladesmen
From Targon

TL;DR: Chiron is a top lane fighter carry, with a high AOE damage output, with an all in fight gameplay style with a triple sword character concept.

**LORE: ** Chiron is the sole survivor of the fabled tribe of Varkkor. A mighty warrior born to a tribe of violence and war thirsty kin dedicated to war and murder that lived on the outskirts of the Targon region known as the Varkkor. He is tormented by the cursed blades he possesses, he searches for relief from the blades that constantly torment him and caused him to slaughter his entire tribe and any that stand before him in their insatiable thirst for blood.

The Varkkor were a warlike tribe known for their savage war tactics and immeasurable strength. Varkkorans were vicious warriors who fought many wars on Runeterra, their victories led them to be even be hired by many warring factions as fighters to turn war in their favor. During battle their fierce screams and blood thirsty eyes etched the worst of memories in their enemies before they were left as corpses, but the Varkkorans legendary war prowess became their fall. Other nations witnessing their strength banded together to eliminate them for fear they may one day become too strong and rule Runeterra. They became hunted by all. They fought back at all nations, nations that had once required their skill now came for their heads, though they put of a laudable fight their enemies numbers proved too great to fall. The Vakkor were forced to flee their homelands and become a nomadic tribe that wandered Runeterra, eventually becoming a scarce kin only spoken of in shadow and conspiracy. Though the Varkkor did not disappear, their battle pride was greatly damaged leaving a permanent mark of anger and bitterness on those who could remember when the mere utterance of their name spoke fear into the hearts of man. The leaders of the tribe sought revenge upon their enemies, to restore their tribe and glory and return their position of power. The leaders decided to turn to their tribe’s god to grant them power. The Varkkor carried with them a set of ceremonial swords, a set of three, said to be the way they commune with their tribe god, and were only to be touched by the leaders, the chosen who have braved countless battles and were able to bear to even holding a single blade. The roaming tribe would travel to villages and abduct villagers to be sacrificed to the blades, as a ritual to appease and call upon the blessing of their god, Omnes Summus. As this ritual went on the name of Varkkor started to stir once more in the taverns of Runeterra. On the final night of Imbuement when a group of villagers were set to be sacrificed to the blades, A Vakkoran boy spoke out against the leaders of the tribe, being was less experienced in war but nonetheless a Vakkoran at heart who truly carried the pride of the Varkkor, a boy named Chiron, he did not believe in their god he saw their pleading for the power of their tribe as cowardice, he argued that their senseless sacrifices of villagers would never bring back their tribe’s former glory, but only by violently dominating in war once could restore their war glory. The leaders scoffed at him and viciously disciplined him. His blood soaked body left on the floor was a reminder to all who thought ill of their methods. Moments before the ceremony Chiron found the strength stand. He snuck into the holding tent of the sacrifices and sent them free, nearby guards saw the fleeing villagers and alerted the tribe of their escape causing uproar amongst the tribe. Chiron took this time to approach the sacred grounds where the ritual was to be carried out. As he approached the blades plunged in the ground he caught the eye of a nearby leader, who screamed vehement warnings to Chiron, but no words could stop him from his goal. Approaching with determination and hate in his eyes for the artifacts that kept his tribe from their former glory. He stood between them and grasped one blade in each hand and suddenly he fell to one knee. He began to hear voices and screams of slaughter and violence in his head, they rang incessantly in his mind and his vision began to distort. He could feel his hands swell with pain he needed to destroy the blades. He could hear the impending footsteps of his tribesmen returning. He raised his hands, bearing the swords to destroy the third blade in the ground. Trying to fight the pain in his hands - his mind went black, in his next moments of memory there were two swords sheathed to him and the third in his hand, taking the stance to thrust forward, he could see for the first time fear in the eyes of Varkkor leaders as the blade pierced through many of his tribesmen. Remaining leaders knew no person could stand to hold more than one blade at a time this omen could only bring catastrophe. Chiron hacked and slashed through tribesmen like a bloodlusted warrior his mind clouded with voices demanding for more and more blood with every slash and dismemberment. The torment drove him mad he could barely think let alone comprehend of his actions. His tribesmen screams echoed in the night and the blood stained the ground red, suddenly the blades began to glow a pale white and his hands started to warm he began to feel at peace and before long he lost consciousness. He awoke the next day on the ground with blades still in hand, and surrounded by corpses and blood. The bodies of every tribesman he knew lay contorted and disfigured on the ground even the villagers he had set free had been slaughtered. Behind him lay catastrophic damage to the ground and surroundings. Having only fragments and of his memories of the previous night in mind he pieced together what had transpired. Sorrow overtook him but was then clouded and jaded by the consuming torment of the blades, but Chiron could not part with them for the fear of what they could do in another’s hands, and the fear that the blades would not let him part with them. No longer concerned with the purpose of restoring his tribe, but completely consumed by the thought of the keeping the blades from falling into enemy hands and the feeling of warmth in his hands, a warmth that brought him relief and peace. The torment from the voices and pain in his hands continued torment him day and night distorting his perception; he sought rest from the voices of the blades and the pain in hands, to keep others from the torment of the blades in the only way he knew how – bloodshed. That night some say they saw a shift in the stars others warned of a terrible omen of the dangerous possibility that a celestial had descended but on that night the glory of the Varkkor became an unrevivable myth.

“Grief is but a moment – torment is forever, and the peace we both need can be found at the end of my blades.“

ABILITIES:

Accursed Ternion [Passive]: every third basic attack Chiron’s sword has an added effect: Sennashuura: 3rd attack gains bonus range and deals an additional 60-105(0.4 AP) magic damage over 4 seconds. Orroromara: 3rd attack steals back health equal to 6% of his maximum health. Muunaghen: 3rd attack slows target hit by 60% for 1 second.
After being in battle for more than 4 seconds, Chiron’s blades crave blood. Damaging a target with the corresponding ability of a blood craved blade causes Chiron to deal additional damage equal to 14% of the targets maximum health as magic damage and heal himself for 14% of his maximum health and grants Chiron 2 stacks of Augur. If a blood craved weapon does not hit a target in the allotted time the ability becomes unusable for 3.5 seconds.

Sennashuura’s Fury [Q]: Chiron takes out Sennashuura. After taking Sennashuura out Chiron stabs in a straight line at a target direction dealing 80/120/160/200(1.1 AD) physical damage in a line, and applies a mark of Affliction to champions hit. If Sennahuura is already out, the cast time is reduced by half. If this ability hits a champion with a mark of Affliction Chiron will dash towards the target and use the ability and reduce abilities on cooldown by 50%. Cooldown 9 seconds. Costs 46/56/66/79 health.

Orroromara‘s Wrath [W]: Chiron takes out Orroromara. After taking Orroromara out Chiron slashes in a target direction dealing 70/110/150/190(0.8 AD)+(0.7 AP) physical damage in a cone, and applies a mark of Affliction to champions hit. If Orroromara is already out its cast time is reduced by half. Champions hit with a mark of Affliction suffer -20% armour penetration and are dealt an additional 100/135/170/200(0.8 AP) magic damage over time for 6 seconds and reduce the abilities on cooldown by 50%. Cooldown 10 seconds. Costs 40/50/60/70 health.

Muunaghen‘s Rage [E]: Chiron takes out Muunaghen. After taking Muunaghen out Chiron, steps forward and takes 2 broad swing basic attacks very quickly each hit dealing an additional 50/70/90/110(0.9 AP) as bonus magic damage to targets hit and applying a mark of Affliction to champions hit. If Muunaghen is already out the cast time is reduced by half. Champions hit with a mark of Affliction cause Chiron to heal for 11% of his max health per hit and reduce abilities on cooldown by 50%. Cooldown 8 seconds. Costs 43/53/63/72 health.

Omnes Summus’ Augury [R]- Passive: Damaging a champion with an ability will grant Chiron 1 stack of Augur. Active: At Max 6 stacks, Chiron surges with ill energy, refreshing all abilities on cooldown and gaining an additional 200% movement speed for 6 seconds and gaining the ability to use ‘Omnes Summus’ Reckoning’ once. Omnes Summus’ Reckoning: activating this ability causes Chiron’s swords to fuse together to call upon Omnes Summus. Omnes Summus’ blade slices in a target direction splitting the ground, and sending forth a shock wave dealing 250/300/350 (1.2 AD)+(0.6 AP) magic damage. Targets hit by the blade are knocked aside and stunned for 0.5 seconds. Cooldown 95/85/75 seconds. Activation cost 20% of current health.

Notes

Accursed Ternion: Sennashuura’s bonus range increase is equal to 510. Sennashuura’s damage scales with level (+2.5 per level). Marks of Affliction: last only 4 seconds are not consumed but are instead refreshed when hit again.

  • Cast Time for all swords is divided into, taking the sword out and overall cast animation -To satisfy a blood sword craving Chiron must hit an enemy with the correct ability within the 2.5 seconds of the craving happening, if no enemy is hit the blood craving is considered unsatisfied. Sword blood cravings can only occur to 1 random ability when 2 or more abilities are not on cooldown once every 15 seconds when in battle.
  • 2nd bar could be the time limit for blood cravings.
  • unsatisfied blood sword cravings cause the skill to be unusable by just greying out the ability. When a sword blood craving happens the ability icon is highlighted, the sword also lets out a unique scream for each sword.
  • ~~in combat is determined by having taken atleast 2 actions (abilities or auto-attacks) or being hit a minimum of 2 times by enemy champions or a minimum 4 hits from minions or neutral monsters within 5 seconds (if not already defined by Riot). -sword blood craving damage and healing numbers are halved against epic monsters. [Q]: strikes forward in a straight line at 500 range straight line skillshot. Taking this sword out takes 0.5 seconds, the cast is 0.5 and is channeling. If more than one target is marked Chiron dashes to the closest one. 50% cooldown reduction is only applied to cooldown amount left on timer. [W]: slashes in a direction in a cone 200 range cone skillshot. Taking this sword out takes 0.5 second, the cast is 0.5 and is channeling. Armour penetration does not stack with itself. 50% cooldown reduction is only applied to cooldown amount left on timer. -hitting more than one marked champion applies the damage and debuff to all champions hit. [E]: 2 broad swing attacks are diagonal side to side slashes. The first slash has the range of 175, the second slash’s range is 200 and is a quickcast skillshot casted at 150% attack speed. Bonus attack speed does not affect this ability. Taking this sword out takes 0.5 seconds before slashing forward. Both slashes may apply a mark of Affliction. Hitting the same marked champion with both slashes only heals once per cast. If the first hit applies a mark to a champion it does not refresh it upon the second strike to the same champion from the same cast. Damage from this is bonus magic damage added to his base physical damage. Not a channeling ability. 50% cooldown reduction is only applied to cooldown amount left on timer. Does give Chiron 2 stacks towards Accursed Ternion. [R]: strikes from above his head. The sword has 550 range. The shock wave travels indefinitely across the map. This spell is channeling for 2 seconds and is interruptible. If interrupted cooldown is not refunded. Mark of Affliction cooldown reduction does not apply to ability. Stacks of Augur only last 18 seconds and are refreshed upon gaining another stack, if another stack is not gained within the allotted time all stacks are lost (scales off AD). ~~ I was also thinking about possibly making a double click of an ability to cause him to change sword without casting the ability.

GAMEPLAY AND ITEMS

Chiron was designed to be a top lane fighter in as the position of a carry. His playstyle is intended to be a character that goes in and unleashed a barrage of abilities combing them to deal tons of. His all in style requires the player to be more sure of when to commit and when not to as a failed attempt leaves him completely open as he has no ways of escape or defense against attacks. During the laning phase Chiron has a decent sustain compared to most with the use of his passive when his W is being used, as well as taking opportunities to use his E to recover when enemies come to close he also has a strong poke and range and excels at punishing champions the get to close without considering the range on his abilities. Taking the chance to unleash a full typical combo of W E Q on and an enemy which could then be used to recast W at the end if they all hit the opponent. That being said Chiron’s strength in high damage to close champions he is weak to champions that outrange him or have the ability to kite his well. In late game teamfights Chiron should ideally be looking and waiting for optimal points to engage, before going in swinging as he is a very squishy champion. Being picked with alongside champions who can set up and initiate great teamfights are the champions he best synergizes with allowing him to lay down tons of AOE damage to the enemy. Chiron’s Q is his bread and butter when it comes to poke and dueling with its high range and range from passive it is his go to for harassing and damage, and is also used as his only gap close when attacking a marked champion to keep up from those who try to run from him after engagement. Chiron’s W cone range makes as a great starting point for his combo on tricky movement champions, as is his go to for cutting down tanky champions, starting a combo by hitting an opponent with a blood craved weapon and leading in after with his W deals high damage especially to tanky champions. Chiron’s E is best used on close engagements as it has a much shorter range compared to his other abilities and his ability of choice when trying to survive in the thick of battle. Landing his E on multiple marked targets allows him to stay alive in battle much longer and keep his combo going. Chiron’s ultimate is a high damage ability with the requirement that it is awarded to you when you successfully land Chiron’s abilities, refreshing his abilities give him and huge movement speed boots to allow him to once again throw down the hurt before dealing massive damage and stunning opponents with the activation of this ability as well as the shock wave traveling across the entire map. Chiron’s passive gives him many options to assist his playstyle, when used with his Q it fits to effectively poke and harass opponents, while his W helps him sustain, his E is something that really helps line up his combo with its slow. Chiron’s E helps proc his passive’s 3rd strike. Lining up the third in the middle of a combo provides the extra utility in combos weather its getting off a heal in a trade or extra range for that last hit to an opponent who’s about to escape. Chiron’s passive of blood craved weapons is a unique input which allows the player to throw tons of damage and gain stacks of augur, or sometimes start engages. Though the user has no way on controlling when they occur or even which ability it will be, this requires the player to think quickly on his about how they will engage the opponent. This aspect of the champion provides the player with a high risky high reward and encouraging Chiron player so constantly fight. This tricky mechanic does offer high reward using it at the wrong times may put Chiron out in a completely defenceless position, while ignoring it causes him a penalty of not being able to use the ability for 3.5 seconds, so choose quickly, and wisely.

Champions Chiron is weak to are champions with large range and lots of CC that do not give him a chance to get close to unleash his combo or champions with large poke and movement, such as: Lux, Xerath, Ziggs or Lucian. Champions Chiron excels against: Nasus, Olaf and Rumble.

Items I would recommend would be: Starting: Doran’s sword, health potion Essential: Mercury Treads, Death’s Dance, Black Cleaver Offensive: Trinity force, Hextech Gunblade, Maw of Malmortis, Youmuu’s Ghostblade Defensive: Guarding Angel, Banshee’s Veil, Randuin’s Omen, Dead Man’s Plate

THEME MUSIC CONCEPT

Musically I was thinking he needed both a dark and moody or subtle theme but still have something in it to make it fast paced and almost ‘upbeat’. Yes it sounds almost like an oxymoron. I think the dark part would be achieved mainly through use of piano, and the subtle parts would take from background violin, both used to start the song and a bit later have a low distorted guitar to in the background to maybe give it a faster pace and more edge to the theme. Maybe in the key of Gm. I think others could make a better theme than the parts I have so far.

ART CONCEPT AND THOUGHTS

The visual concept I had of Chiron is that he has a ragged warrior look from growing up during the tribe’s nomadic period, so baggy-ish clothing with possibly small bits of armour on him. Not sure about his hair length I think long or short could work well. I wasn’t fully sure where the swords would be placed on him, I was thinking to have Muunaghen be on his back as it is a bit bigger of a sword, Orroromara at his side as the slash of the blade comes from his side and is a wide attack. Sennashuura I was most unsure about to either have on his back alongside Muunaghen or on one of his sides. Sennashuura is a sword that he lunges with and has the ability to stretch. I think colour scheme wise I think red could somewhat resemble his vicious murder nature, and warmish neutral colours would may reflect his nomadic aspects. He would also be somewhat large, I would say about a little above average, possibly somewhere around Jarvan size. Muunaghen is a thicker type of blade, Orroromara has a some kind of curve to it (possibly even only a slight one almost like a katana) and Sennashuura is more odd looking possibly even wavy, as it is a blade that can stretch. Resource wise, animating Chiron I think might be a bit more intensive, creating all the assets and motions. Chiron would require 3-4 different attack animations for each sword in addition to the unique animations for each skill and for when Sennashuura stretches. His ultimate would also be quite flashy having his swords combine to a larger spirit/energy looking sword. His release skin would be Bildgewater Chiron, giving him a complete pirate theme.

PROMOTION/TEASER

The promotion for the champion could be a small interactive game/animation. The animation would consist of a close up of one of Chiron’s sword in the ground and background music, the user is then able to click on certain places of the sword to hear different noises such a dying screams and shrieks as well as people dying in the reflection of the blade. There would be 3 different places that are interactable. Upon clicking all 3 places the sword would be removed from the ground and a slashing noise and a scream would be heard. Then a new sword would be placed in the ground, with 3 different interactable parts to click with the same idea of the previous sword, this method would also be repeated for the 3rd sword. Upon the removal of the last sword the user would hear Chiron shout “Blades! bring me glory!”. Then the screen could fade to black and then send the user to the Mount Targon page.

ENDING THOUGHTS

Overall I think I think I was able to the intended playstyle and theme of the champion but, I think I may have to move some numbers around to further accentuate the kit. Though I do feel I was atleast somewhat accurate with the numbers. Regarding the music and art I am more interested in what others people’s take on his visual look and music theme, rather than what I had in mind, but if you really wanted it I think I could come up with the song and some concept art if really needed. Thanks for reading all this I know it's long and congrats if you made it all the way through! Tell me what you guys think of him!

I kind of enjoy your idea, but I see certain problems with it, of course I'll be listing them below;

First off, the concept. All I can think of with this character is Yasuo.

  • 3 strike sword techniques (His Q is almost an exact copy just with a mechanic to include Yasuo's E)
  • Wandering swordsman seeking peace
  • Original tribe/family/community slaughtered by himself (believed to have been by the character in Yasuo's case)
  • Long hair (you did say short would work too) with baggy clothing and bits of armor
  • Both are pretty much all-in champions
  • Also, this one is heavily my own personal opinion, but his name doesn't fit, because Chiron is a Greek Mythological Centaur with a bow and arrow

Second, hybrid characters just don't work in League of Legends anymore, pick a side, AP or AD. Also, his abilities are just wonky to me, and weirdly balanced, however this might just be my misreading (they confused me a bit to be honest, some more clarity would be nice). To help with clarity, I would tie Mark of Affliction into your passive, to avoid overloading each ability with information. Also, I would remove from the passive either blood cravings or the every 3 basic attacks benefit; preferably cravings, because they are just confusing and punish the character too hard for not being able to all-in. in replacement for losing the ability to gain augur stacks, you could add this to the other mechanic in the passive (every three basic attacks gain 2 stacks of augur) and maybe even make it an every 3 ability casts mechanic. Following that, I would include the range and cast time on abilities with his actual ability instead of in a separate "notes" section.

  • Also, to fill in your notes section (assuming you follow the suggested change of where to include range and cast time), at least for his Q, in a case of multiple marked champions being hit, by his Q, which would be targeted by his dash?
  • Another thing i'd like to note is that 500 range is a bit too long, especially for a sword strike, so I'd bring it down to 300-400.
  • His ultimate shouldn't have an Ezreal ultimate tied into it, just give the shockwave a definite range.
  • Another problem with his ultimate is that you have too many requirements to cast it; 6 stacks of Augur which takes a full combo of his abilities+1, (with cast times, 3 seconds total, that makes the ultimate a little too hard to get in a teamfight for an all-in champion), plus 20% health (Remove the health cost). The note about it being too hard is assuming you leave your blood craving mechanic which involves 4 seconds of combat, and the correct ability off cooldown within a certain amount of time to even get 2 stacks, and if you fail to use the correct ability you've completely ruined your combo and can die quite easily.

I'm not fully finished with this review, but I have to go now, so if you read it, just know it's incomplete. :P After coming back, and looking back through it, I can't find what I was going to continue off of with this review, but i did find something else.

  • If you follow up with removing blood cravings, you've mostly lost your ability to return health to your champion, which could be tied into getting six augur stacks. Also, if you follow up on removing it, and don't add some new way to return health, I would take out all health costs on his abilities. He's not really a character with constant sustain to combat health costs (such as Aatrox, Mundo and Vladimir), and I find it better that he shouldn't be one.
  • Another thing is after really looking at his abilities, he almost has too many damaging abilities. When you think of almost any kit in it's basic form, you tend to come up with one main damage ability, some type of utility, and then an ability that is either utility again or a mixture. I don't know really what to do to combat this other than maybe making one of the swords like a ghost blade? Or you could even take the E and make it a sword that heals yourself and allies when you hit them.

All in all, I feel like with tweaking this champion could be fun and a very unique change to this game, so I wish you the best of luck with this, I'll be coming back to check from time-to-time. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

ok some perspective is needed here. passive damage is way too high. 14% max health is equivalent to a maxed gnar W. Q basically yas q+e basic damage is also double yas at all levels W level 4 dar dar e for proccing E 11% max is massive

Sorry there's alot wrong with this kit. not trying to be discouraging just needs lots of work.
