New skarner passive ideas

I was wondering about the skarner changes and i didnt like those because it felt much more like dominion than classic. and so i was wondering about an idea for a skarner passive, i considered his 'stickiness' of his and so i got to this. passive: ' battle sharpening: atacking causes skarner's claws to sharpen, making his next basic atack do 5% more damge and a 7% slow. It stacks up to 6 times.Every stack adds a crystal shard to the atacked target and at 6 shards, skarner's fracture (e ability) will stun the target and consume the shards. The stun duration varies with the range between skarner and the target from 0.5 to 1.5. Hitting a 6 shard enemie with ultimate will add an extra (0.25/0.45/0.65 seconds) to impale's duration'' His q will add a stack of battle sharpening but, however, it wont get the damage and slow buff.

Tell me what are your opinions on this. i really thought about this as the sticky skarner we all know and love .

PS: i hope i didnt make it too much op, but i think with this passive every thing can be balanceable

It's worth noting that they probably won't be giving Skarner a whole new passive a third time, since all of the work on his Crystal Spires have been done (Art, Sound, Coding, etc). While you did consider that Skarner requires sticking power on a single target to be relevant, I think this passive would result in very binary gameplay (much like when his Q had a permanent slow). Either he'd get kited (and never get in melee range for the slow) or someone would be stuck in melee range of him without a chance of escape.

hey remember the q , by applying an extra shard, wont perma slow since this passive only applies slow on auto atacks, so it would just speed up the e-stun process

That's exactly my concern though. When there is little counter-play to Skarner's sticking power (whether it is movement speed or a slow) it generally results in binary gameplay for both Skarner and his opponents. To elaborate, lets take an example of a melee champion that is also fairly sticky. Shyvana, perhaps.

How Shyvana stays on a target is she uses W to close distance with them. If she manages to get in melee range she uses AA -> Q, which allows her to keep her movement speed a bit longer. The proper play for Shyvana is using her W when she knows it will allow her to get in melee range. The counter-play for her opponent is saving CC for when she activates W in order to stop her front entering melee range (and thus preventing her from prolonging the duration of her movement speed increase).

Shyvana has more of a dynamic with her W because if she uses it incorrectly then there is a time period where she is vulnerable to kiting and getting in range to damage her won't spell immediate doom. With Skarner, generally how it goes is if you're in melee range of him you will stay there until somebody makes a mistake, or somebody dies. There is little to do versus him other than hope you can fight him, since his sticking power lacks any form of gating (I.E. Cooldowns).

maybe his q could have +50 range and leave behind a n area that grants skarner +40% move speed and that last 8 seconds just so he has so more escape capability and more chasing power especially if he has iron pot

My idea would be more along the idea of pushing power into his E. As it is his only skill shot, it already has the necessary counterplay. Adding more reward to it would not be far out of the question. On the PBE, his E leaves a mark that stuns the target if you AA them and reduces his E CD by one second.

What if instead of a stun and cooldown reduction, he can extend the duration of his E's slow by 0.5 seconds through damaging the slowed target with Crystal Slash or auto attacks. This effect would only occur maybe 4 times, for a total slow duration of 4.5 seconds.

This gives Skarner sticking power while also leaving room for both the Skarner and his opponent to play around it. Skarner could predict flashes and constantly slow because his E is also on a short cooldown, but he would have to consistently land his E. The opponent could side-step it, flash in an unexpected direction, use some sort of cleansing effect (QSS or Mikael's), or simply prevent you from extending the slow duration (through proactive use of a stun, knock-up, or root).

This also works around the idea that they'll probably not be radically modifying his passive.

Ummmmmm thatz a good observation...

His passive actually pretty good now considering his E proc the the effect outside the zones.
