I had a theory about this. Base for it is that all the rune stones presented here are connected to a faction in the game.

Precision is Demacia Domination is Noxus Resolve is Freljord Inspiration is Mount Targon And finally: Sorcery represents the Shadow Isles.

The wasteland the rune stands in resembles art pieces from the Shadow Isles we got and if you may look: one of the symbols on the ground resembles the symbol that the mist lady is wearing on her forehead in the Shadow Isles crest. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/1/11/Shadow_Isles_Crest.png/revision/latest?cb=20161117061207

How is that all relevant? Well, what do the Shadow Isles in their current form and Kindred have in common? They are related to death. And looking at Aery, she could be a spirit from the ghost realm just as well, hence why you are able to summon her with the rune stone in the Shadow Isles.

My headcanon is that these symbols (these on the forehead of Aery as well as these on the ground) are supposed to be ancient magical glyphs for magic that is related to death.

But this is just my personal idea about this stuff.

The Kindred have a cat. The theory about shadow isles is a really good guess too ... I suppose.
