I recently read information about Shen's VU and rework and how riot might make him look more tanky to justify why he's tanky.

Truth about ninjas: They avoid fights at all cost, they are not fighters they assassinate without making noise thus making a ninja perfect body type to be slim or at least athletic but they must be light on their feet. Naruto is a extremely poor example of real ninjas and many games now days copy that concept for their ninja themed products. Real ninjas avoided bright colors so they can stealth through the night where most of their missions were carried out. In Japan Samurai's were looked as Honorable, brave, front lines warriors who fought with so much pride but ninjas were the total opposite they kill however and when ever they can even if the enemy is handicap (they gotta get paid) they were also frowned upon but many people used them to carry out dirty deeds.

Talon = Ninja? Talon is probably one of the closest champions to what a ninja is, he's fast, mobile, assassinates and can stealth to avoid or kill. I'm surprised he doesn't even connect with the Kinkou Order story 'Akali, Shen, Zed, Kennen' he even looks like a ninja just give him something to cover his face.

Final thoughts: Since the basis of Shen is already cemented in stone he's probably going to remain a top lane tank/bruiser type champion and in my overall opinion I actually like Shen the way he is but his splash art was pretty lack lusting and I prefer that fan made art that I'm pretty sure everyone has seen. If I could add anything I think his W 'feint' should have an extra addition because it's pretty bad late game but I love it early game being able to shield minor damage. Since his W allows his Ki-Strike to be up faster I also think it should allow his next Ki-Strike to crit giving him some real dueling potential or his next Ki-Strike gives vision on the targeted champion for a few seconds (a ninja must know and see who he's trying to kill) or maybe a cripple effect making the next Ki-Strike add a minor slow because ninjas love to take advantage of handicapped victims and it makes it easier for his shadow dash to land.

River Shen: As funny as it is this play style actually makes Shen's kit look and feel more ninja like LOL, he roams around without being spotted, looks for easy kills (Jungler doing camp and is on low health? here comes River Shen) Shen

P.S. By no means am I good at this game I just wanted to put out my own thoughts.

The thing about ninja's that most people don't understand (historically) is that Ninja's were ALSO Samurai. They were in service to a LORD and did as asked. They didn't just do stealthy night assassination missions in pajamas, they were also armored fighters, body guards, and spys. One of the ONLY historical records of ninja activity we have involves them infiltrating castle walls to cause problems in the enemy camps during a siege. This from either side of the wall.

Ninja's were also considered just as honorable as the more traditional "Samurai". These warriors would walk around and chop the heads off of defenseless peasants for stupidly minor offenses.

EDIT TLDR- your scope of what a ninja is is very narrow and limited to an american fantasy. Empty your cup, open your mind and embrace the true ninja. Uncloud your thoughts young one, and find the truth shrouded in darkness.
