Tullius, The Minion King
League of Legends champion design concept
Tullius
“The Minion King”
The costs and scalings are all theoretical, just gives an idea about how the champ works.
Abilities:
Passive - “Morale” - Tullius has a unique resource called “Morale”, which determines whether minions will follow him or not. Slaying enemy units generates morale, and using abilities costs morale. Tullius has a max morale of 200.
Q - “Strike Team” - (Passive) Tullius’ basic attacks command all minions under his control to attack the target. (Active) Minions under Tullius’ control gain 1/2/4/6/9 + (0.05 * AP) attack damage. Cost - 20 Morale; Duration - 5/6/7/8/9/10 Seconds; Cooldown - 20/18/15/13/11 Seconds.
W - “Rally” - (Passive) Tullius gains all gold from a killing blow by minions under his control. (Active) Tullius commands all nearby minions to follow him until he dies or runs out of Morale.
E - “Form Up” - Tullius directs minions under his control into a formation of melee minions in the front and ranged minions in the back. Minions will not move until the duration expires, or the ability is ended early. Minions under Tullius’ control gain 10/12/14/18/20 + (0.1 * Armor) armor and 10/12/14/18/20 + (0.1 * Magic resist) magic resist. Cost - 75/70/65/50/55 Morale; Duration - 4/5/6/7/8 Seconds; Cooldown - 10 Seconds.
R - “Storm the Castle” - Tullius is rooted for 3 seconds, after which he spawns 1/2/3 waves of minions surrounding him. Each wave will have 3 melee minions, 3 caster minions and one cannon minion. Cost - 100 Morale; Cooldown - 150/180/210 Seconds;
Tullius’ Passive “Morale” is a unique resource that give him control over minions. It makes the player need to consider the risks of overworking his minions, as a bad engage could cause his minions to leave his service, leaving him vulnerable.
Tullius’ “Strike Team” gives Tullius full control over the targeting of his Minions. Enemy laner being too aggressive level 2? Punish him with minion damage.
Tullius’ “Rally” allows him to have a personal escort of minions - at the cost of pushing power in a lane. This forces Tullius to pay attention to the enemy, which lane is the best choice to leave open for one wave to capture an objective somewhere else? In addition Tullius can use his w early in lane to take a jungle camp or roam and deny farm, however risking the enemy laner pushing up to the tower faster and taking the objective as it is left undefended.
Tullius’ “Form Up” is a very versatile tool, allowing him to position his minions either offensively or defensively. Using Tullius’ E correctly can cause minions to attack the enemy without being in basic attack range to use the q passive, or can be used as a heroic sacrifice to bodyblock the enemy team in the jungle to slow them down and prevent a bad teamfight.
Tullius’ “Storm the Castle” is a very valuable tool, as it allows Tullius to have a personal guard without leaving a lane open. It can also be a very powerful siege tool to push a lane hard, or a very valuable defence tool when the nexus turrets go down.
Playstyle: Tullius has many options, such as baiting an enemy splitpusher by removing a minion wave from a lane, only to loop round and gank while the enemy splitpusher is stuck between two minion waves, or by splitpushing by summoning many minion waves in a lane and just sieging down towers. Tullius can also throw off the enemies wave control, with teams setting up a slow push bot to try to secure baron, only to have it push to tower too fast and die.
Tullius will generally be strong against champions with low waveclear, and should struggle against high waveclear champions.
Tullius was built in the style of an RTS game, moving units and directing them, and his low micro requirements allow the player to focus more on the macro game, pushing waves, taking objectives and winning the game.
