Introducing Magnus The Valorous
Hello! This is my first time ever submitting a champion and I don't know what all you all would want to know and what all you would care less to know so I am gonna make it pretty simple while serving up the juicy bits.
Design/Back-story: Magnus is an orphan due to The Shadow Isles. The Harrowing of many years past swept his parents away from him. He was miraculously spared but vowed to go to The Shadow Isles one day to banish the darkness that has overtaken that land. In his quest to attain such might to combat the wicked spirits and monsters, he developed a unique fighting style in which he draws strength from within himself and pushes onward to claim victory in battle no matter the odds stacked against him. This power he has come to call the Power of Valor. His weapon of choice is a large steel mace that he swings with great might and he also wields a large steel shield. The shield once bore an image of a majestic Eagle, but the many battles he has fought in has degraded the image greatly. He wears heavy full plate armor, including helmet, that is a dulled gray/silver. (The image i have posted is the closest i could think of to this design. Ignore it if you wish but if you want a visual this is the best i could find.)
**Play-style Summary: ** Magnus The Valorous is a Melee Tank with High Crowd Control that excels in team fights and long term trades. Instead of mana he uses a new system i thought up called Valor. The Valor bar only contains 100 points worth of Valor but it is limited in ways in which you can build it up. The safest way to build it up is if you are in a close range to a champion (roughly an adc's auto attack range or just slightly longer). When the enemy champion is in this range and is visible you build up 5 Valor per 5 seconds, but if there are no enemy champions in that range or the champion is out of vision your Valor decays at the same rate. His passive includes an extra way to build up Valor too, where in which neutral monsters and minions build up 5 valor per time you take damage from them and large minions/monsters build up 10 per time you take damage. Also, any time you take damage from a champion auto attack/spell (excluding summoner spells) you gain 1% of the damage taken as Valor (minimum of 5 Valor). Valor is used to cast his spells so you always wanna stay in combat, but since it can build quite fast in comparison to mana it allows you to come out on top of long trades in the top lane as long as you play him right.
Abilities:
Passive: Valorous Might The first part of his passive, as explained above, builds up Valor faster while fighting Minions, Monsters, and Champions. The second part of his passive gives him 1 point of AD for every 4 points of bonus armor he has.
Q: Shield Charge Magnus preps his shield in front of him and dashes forward, dealing 20 / 35 / 50 / 75 / 90 (+0.5 AD & 0.5 Armor) to all enemies he hits in a very small range in front of him and stuns all enemies hit for 0.6 / 0.7 / 0.8 / 0.9 / 1 second. This ability can also be used to jump over walls. Costs 30 Valor and has a cooldown of 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds.
W: Valor To Vigor Magnus uses Half of his Valor to heal his wounds in the midst of combat, healing himself for 60 / 120 / 180 / 240 / 300 Hit Points (+ 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 x Valor spent) (+ 0.8 AP). This ability can be used while under the effects of crowd control. Costs 50% of current Valor and has a cooldown of 24 / 23 / 22 / 21 / 20 seconds.
E: Fracture Earth Magnus takes his mace and drives it into the ground with enough force to cause the ground around him (roughly the size of Nasus E of Maokia Ult with Magus being the center of the radius) to erupt and fracture, dealing 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 0.6 AD) physical damage to all enemies and turrets in the area and slows enemies by 30% / 40% / 50% / 60% / 70% for 2 seconds. The ground remains fractured for 5 seconds after the spell has been cast, slowing all enemies who walk through the area after the spell is cast for half as much. the slow refreshes for every 0.25 seconds an enemy remains in the fractured area. Costs 30 Valor and has a cooldown of 14 seconds.
R: Surge of Valor
Passively gives Magnus 10 / 25 / 40 Armor and AD that does not synergize with his passive.
Magnus channels all the Valor in him to fight at his full potential for 30 seconds. When Activated his passive Armor and AD bonuses from his ult double. In addition, Crowd Control used against him has its duration reduced by 20% / 35% / 50%, his movement speed is increased by 20 / 35 / 50, and all forms of his Valor build up is tripled, plus he now can build up Valor from Turret damage (20 Valor per Turret shot). Costs 70 Valor and has a cooldown of 120 seconds.
Weakness: I am sure what he excels at is pretty clear at this point but what he lacks in can cripple him harshly. He has a low movement speed and attack speed, making his all ins pretty weak early game. If his Q is used to engage you can get caught out quite easily, forcing a flash. Your best friend is always going to be vision and patience so you can build up valor, as well as poking when you can. All ins against you will always end in your favor as long as you do not get poked too low before the trade. Your heal will be your best friend. My pick for summoners would be Flash and then either TP or ghost to make up for his low movement speed. Also passive lane enemies will make it hard to build up Valor so always keep that in mind. Your best allies will be the ones that can hold the enemies in place so you can Q then E to lock people down or Q/E and Ult so you can bash people in while they are unable to get away. A Randuins Omen will also help grandly with slowing people plus will make you really tanky and give you some passive bonus AD. Spirit Visage helps with your heal and gives you some MR for those pesky mages. Merc treds work amazingly with his ult and Hydra is always good for if you get really fed, though auto attacking will still be slow as hell.
Final Note: I am sure i will receive a lot of criticism on this, but i am also hoping to see some happy comments too. I put a good amount of thought into this and I would love to hear all feed back, good and bad. Tbh the main reason I set to put this out is because my friend thought it would be a good idea so again hope you all like it and hope to hear that feedback. Have a wonderful day! :D
