Gameplay Concept for Season 9

I've played League of Legends on and off since Season 5, and as of this season have been playing more regularly. As each Season passed, and brought with them new gameplay and mechanics to the Rift, it kept the game fresh and added more ways to go about victory, along with new champions being released throughout. I'm not sure if this idea was already suggested or posted on the forums, but I figured I'd share it anyhow.

Customizable Turrets/Turret Abilities

This would change the laning phase quite a bit, and could also give you a desperately needed boost if things weren't going in your favor. I'm not sure how well making turrets themselves customizable by the player would work, considering that each player would want to upgrade the turrets a certain way for a certain purpose, but Turret Abilities would work like a Summoner Spell: Pick one at Champ Select, and you wouldn't be able to swap it out during game (much like Unsealed Spellbook). The special thing about Turret Abilities compared to Summoner Spells, is that some could be Active, while others could be Passive, but both require you to be within a distance of the turret to activate/take effect (the turret's attack range, for example).

Turret Ability Ideas

Just going to throw a couple ideas for both Active and Passive abilities:

Active

  1. Upon activation, nearby turrets for the next "x" seconds will prioritize enemy champions within range, regardless of whether or not they initiate combat within range.

  2. Increase turret attack range/speed for the next "x" seconds.

  3. Grants the turret a large shield and or increased damage reduction for the next "x" seconds.

Passive

  1. While within range, turrets are granted a small regen bonus (or even the champions instead).

  2. Gain bonus resistances, tenacity, or slow resist while within range.

  3. Minions gain power while within range.

Like I said, just an idea that I think would have an interesting impact on the laning phase.

Edit: I know this is a very old post of mine (nearly half a year ago as of this edit), but I kinda wanted to add a small detail to it.

I also think a cool champion UI for such an addition would be if, maybe on the right side of your abilities & items, they added the design of a rift turret, with "sockets" for your one or two turret powers on. Not sure about the keybindings for the actual abilities themselves, but I figured the "X" and "C" keys would be decent keybindings as I'm pretty sure there's nothing bound to those keys automatically without needing the CTRL or ALT key as well.

I did look on the forums previously and found some info on how Riot Games tends to avoid using player ideas anymore, due to some issues on players demanding (or just not being given) credit where credit was due, etc., but if there's a possibility that they still do utilize player concepts, and if this idea I had when I posted this is a good one (and one that was unique in the sense that I am one of, if not, the sole player(s) to share this idea publicly), then personally, I would not care/mind if this was used in actual game play; not too worried about said above issue in the past. Like I mentioned before, it's just an interesting idea that I would like to see implemented, and just contributing to ideas that could be interesting additions to the way the game is played.

That being said: Riot, if you see this, I would not mind this idea being used/altered for an actual gameplay idea as if it were your own. I would be quite content just seeing it used in the Rift item 3636
