[Champion Concept] Magil, the Struggling Magician
Name: Magil, the Struggling Magician
Roles: Support, Mage.
General Concept: A ranged support that works best with all in or very mobile ADC's - or fast jungles once level six is achieved. They especially rewards players who can anticipate what the enemy is likely to do and those that can plan ahead.
Appearance: An important note, the character is intended to be androgynous both in appearance and voice. As such they would have a medium of voice between deep and high pitched and wouldn't have any outward tells of their gender.
It would be easiest to describe them in relation to Twisted Fate, who is idolized by Magil, as they attempt to dress similar to their hero. But because they don't have the funds or the fame of The Card Master it would be more tattered and slapdash than him. Magil would have a tophat, but unlike say The Magnificent TF skin it would possibly have a hole in it and not as uniform in color. The entire outfit would have a un-uniformity to it - neither sexy or strong but having elements of both.
The two important aspects of Magil's outfit and theme is a Top hat, or other type of large/tall hat (for the passive and E), and a cape (for the ult). But both should not look new. Their face would also be hidden, either under the shadow of the hat, mask, or other type of face concealing garment.
Brief History: Born in between Piltover and Zaun Magil was always fascinated with knowledge. Their parents having quiet a collection of books in their small wilderness home. But eventually the books dried up, and Magil took to the road to see what could be learnt in the two cities of progress. Doing their best to learn a little bit of everything Magil also started to get really interested in street performance and how different it was in both cities. So over time they started to try and put what they had read about in books into a practical application to get some coin.
But it was slow going. But Magil wasn't put off by their new goal to be a performer that would draw all the crowds. And after seeing The Card Master in passing and hearing of his exploits they had a modle to follow and a dress to emulate. But not having any real job besides odd ones and no family fortune or stolen gold they have had to make do with what can be scavenged from the bargin bins and second hand shops. But nothing has dampened their desire so far.
Stats: I'm not the best with stats so I would say as a good idea that they would probably be around Janna's level of health/mana/armor/MR/speed. Open to suggestions on this field.
Passive: Spare some Gold? Once Magil is killed their hat will fall to the ground and remain there until they respawn. As it remains on the field an ally can pay 100 Gold, per Magil's level, to revive them after a brief time. If any items are bought during this time Magil will keep them and will respawn with full health and Mana, but cooldowns will remain. Enemies can attack the hat 3/4/5 (Magil level's 1/9/18) times to destroy the hat but for five seconds after death the hat is untargetable by enemies. Also if the revive process begins it cannot be interrupted.
Q: This your Card? Upon activation Magil will be promoted to select either Q, W, E, or R while hovering their cursor near or over an enemy Champion. Once this is done a flipped down card will appear over the enemies head and they will be dealt some damage. The card will remain over their heads for eight seconds. Once the enemy actives an ability the card will be flipped over, and if Magil selected the same ability that the enemy activated (as in Magil selects Q, and then the enemy uses Q as well) the enemy will be stunned and their ability will not activate, but not go on cooldown.
However, if the enemy selects a different ability (as in Magil selects Q but the enemy uses W) the card will flip over to reveal that Magil was wrong, and nothing will happen to the enemy.
CD: 20 seconds at all ranks, but the cooldown begins when the card is applied to the enemy. Damage: 80/120/160/180/200 (+50% AP) Stun duration: 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 Seconds
W: Shows over! Sensing that the crowd has gotten tired of the act Magil gathers up all their tools and clothing and exits the stage. For five seconds they gain increased movement speed, but while running from the stage Magil cannot activate any other ability and it cannot be canceled early.
CD: 20/18.5/17/15.5/14 seconds. Movement speed gain: 10/20/30/40/50%
E: Hats off to you. After a brief casting animation Magil will throw their hat to a target location, any enemy it passes through will be slowed for two seconds. Once the hat comes to a stop Magil can activate the ability again and the hat will come back to them, but not slow enemies on the way back. Instead it will grant a shield to any ally it passes through on the way back, including Magil at the very end of the cast. The hat has no tether range, but after five seconds will return to Magil regardless if the ability is activated again or not.
CD: 10/8/7/6/5 seconds. Cooldown begins when the hat returns to Magil. Slow: 30/40/50/60/70% (+1% per 30 AP) Shield: 100/125/150/175/200 (+50% AP)
R: Annnnnd GONE! Active - With a flourish Magil removes their cape and holds it to one side and is rooted in place. One ally may pass through the cape per cast, and when they do they are stealthed for a long duration. Magil can activate the ult again to cancel the cast and move, with a reduced cooldown, so if no ally takes the cape you can un-root. Also if an ally has activated a stealth move before touching the cape their invisible duration will be increased by the duration of the ult.
When the Ult is activated there will be a sound played for all players in the game, ally and enemy, but not when a person walks through the cape. This way you could use it for more mind games as the enemy ADC may think that they are about to be ganked and back up. Letting you and your ADC get control of the lane.
CD: 120/75/30 seconds. Stealth duration: 10 seconds
Synergies: Twitch - As the only ADC with a stealth they obviously work the best together once level six has been achieved. A stealthed Twitch popping up beside the enemy carry also makes the enemy panic and use their escape move, a perfect time for Magil to activate his Q to cancel out that move with a stun to allow for some damage time before the enemy can use their escape again.
Vayne - Although it would be hard to pull of a tumble into the cape the same strategy with Twitch would work with Vayne
Struggles against: Varus - As Varus has two ways to pop his W passive there is a good chance that Magil's Q will fail on him regardless of what he assumes will be chosen.
Blitzcrank - While the Q pull would be somewhat easy to try and Q if Blitz in the bush with no vison Magil wouldn't be able to target him, and once pulled it will likely be all over for Magil.
My own questions/comments:
I tried to capture the 'struggling magician' image with the fact that some of Magil's moves can 'fail' or lock out the use of their other skills. Showing that they haven't perfected their craft yet. And also some of their shows or performances haven't gone to plan so they have gotten some running practice as well as their magic. They also need funds, so give us some gold will ya?

I think the cost of the passive may be too much, but I didn't want it to be too low as to make the cost trivial at any stages of the game.
-
I'm aware Q can be super strong if you happen to use it right before someone uses an ult, but I would think its balanced out by the fact that you can just cast a fast cooldown move to remove the card from your head. But interested to here what others think. Hoped it would be a very mind game based move where enemies may be too scared of the stun to activate any move.

W is close to Temmo's W I'm aware, but lasts longer with a lower CD at later ranks. But to counteract this Magil can't activate any ability while their movespeed is up so can only run or advance quickly. Maybe if they are hit with hard CC the movespeed will vanish?

E seems fine to me, but I will admit I'm biased because I made Magil up. Open to suggestions or thoughts on it.

I'm a bit worried that R's cooldown may be too short or stealth duration too long. But since its an ult that Magil cannot use themselves I think it evens out. It is for your ADC (Or jungle/initiator) to make that perfect play. May take out that it increases any stealth applied beforehand.
Thanks for reading :)
