With the addition of emotes into League, there seems to be a lack of importance of masteries. A solution can be adding Mastery based chromas. This would be a lot of work for Riot, but they could just change the color of the base skin to give players an incentive to level up their masteries. Hope Riot could consider this.
Edit: feel free to say other ideas or objections to make masteries more relevant.

While I appreciate the idea to give a reward for reaching mastery 7 on a champion, the particular idea to give us a chroma for the base skin is not really doing it for me....
It would still be alot of work, we are almost at 150 champions at this point and each of them would have to get a chroma for this system. A chroma they would hand out for free, too. And to top this all off.... I don't see that many people actually using such a chroma.
I have many champions on mastery 7, among them every single one from Piltover and Zaun. And I have skins for almost all of these Piltovians and Zaunites, too. Quite a bunch of the base skins are just outdated, so I highly prefer to play these champions with a skin, which makes them look more clean and fancy. I wouldn't pick the old baseline skin in my game just to show off a mastery 7 chroma.
Unfortunately, it is really hard to come up with a good reward for the mastery.
Make it M8 or M9
Yeah, I have a ton of mastery tokens that I never level up, this would be a good incentive for me to do so.

Not chromas, mastery needs legit mastery skins something too really show off not just some recolor of a champ I like

I think that the Mastery 7 is great but I was talking to a friend about a "Ultimate Mastery" where you need 5 S+ and that the actual Emote/Icon for it is Golden like the Honor 5 with a burst of golden energy and that you get an exclusive chroma for the champs base skin
One problem with adding more stuff onto Champion Mastery is that high Masteries (i.e. level 6 and 7) are still arbitrarily restricted to classic Summoner's Rift. Mastery tokens continue to be disabled for ARAM, Twisted Treeline (including ranked), and RGM modes (whenever those are around). Revitalizing Champ Mastery would be nice, but not when segments of League's playerbase are still locked out of the feature.
