Lore

Hello , I myself find that lore is one of the most interesting things in league and certainly there are people , me among them , who get involved more in this game by the lore of the champion we play . I know Riot works on reworks and so on and I can't complain they are doing great , but sometimes we would like more information regarding our loved champion . I love listening to Necrit about lore and everything ,but what I would like is if we can create more detailed lore ,like a novel ,I would love writing about my beloved LeBlanc and submit it to Riot maybe something good comes of it . I know this means more work for Riot to inspect our good and not so good ideas but lets look at it differently : -Immersive experience(Imagine for if we had a big novel regarding Darius and Garen that had an open ending how the lane would go ,that feeling of epic when you know how good the novel was and you can write the final chapter in that game for the conflict Demacia might vs Noxus butcher ) -More lore(self explanatory) -More support from players
-We could have a word in the game we love This just something I would like to do and I was thinking if I could submit to you my work . Good Day.

Would love to give in my insights of my main, but at this point, not many would agree, and I'll keep trying nonetheless.

For me a good game , is a game that makes you attach to its characters (Mass Effect for example) . I would like to have a similar feeling with League (imagine how awesome would you feel ) .

Worse is that we already felt like that in the early days. But with Riot wanting to get rid of summoners, the institute and everything, the lore is a mess since they left too many gaps to close, not to mention that the newest champions could STILL join the League under summoner's eyes, they just wanted to complicated stuff.

Regarding those gaps we try to do something , if we lose the essence of League , it would be just mindless fighting ,not saying that playing only for gameplay is bad but it will work great with a good story in the back . I hope we can change something.

Honestly I can pick my main and give it a better story than what Riot gave him. Still upset about his "legendary skin" to be their idea of storyline.

Not really a big fan of the Deus Ex Machina that was the Institute. I mean if the summoners manage to control Kindred, Aurelion and Bard they are the most powerfull existence possible and that is just boring.

Because Illaoi, a woman that controls a FREAKING God should ever had the chance to die in game? I could still make it mean that the only reason certain champions that would be OP in lore die in game would be because their powers are limited by summoners.

Now it's just random nonsense.

Yeah, because Superman never got beaten by Batman or how a team of heroes stop freaking GODS on regular basis (every superhero team ever). Honestly I think it's much more believeable that Runeterra is operating on superhero logic than that a bunch of Mages managed to chain up and control Death.

Doesn't have to be chain up, could be strucking deals as well. I mean, we're going to have a self centered dragon (no pun intended) that believes he's better than anything and anyone.

If summoners were a thing during his release, I'd think. "He wants to prove he's better than everyone, so maybe make him use part of his powers in the Rift like everyone else so he gets to prove his point!"

Basicaly treat Sol like they'd treat Draven, just let him do his job and let him prove that he's better than anyone or anything, even with the control. Raise his Ego and all that crap.

I understand why you would think like this and I guess I have to accept that there will be people like you, but for me Summoners create are far too boring enviroment.

Well, summoners were technicaly the "police" that stopped many wars in Runeterra. So technically half the lore wouldn't even exist without them.

Besides, like stated many times, then there's summoner's rift... What would be the point of 10 champions of random places gathering them? What would stop 5 champions of one team from killing each other to pieces because 2 are of different alliances?

FloRaider421 votes

There is no lore with summoners around... They can stop the harrowing whenever they please, they stop world wars with a flick of their magic, they imprison gods.

You do realize that even the old lore didn't explain that either ? According to the old lore league matches were used to decide wars and political decisions, so why would anyone ever be part of another team that isn't representing his country ?

To summarize my point: The League was supposedly a United Nations-esque organization with the sole purpose of stopping war on Runeterra - a purpose for which they shelter known criminals, bind Eldritch Abominations, employ Omnicidal Maniacs, interfere with off-world civil wars, kidnap benevolent extra-planar guardian entities, lure newly sentient creatures with promises of knowledge, recruit the experienced soldiers in the world (and small children) and then make them compete in the most brutal Blood Sport in the world. On top of that, despite supposedly being the final arbiters of justice on Runeterra, they are willing to forgive their own members for atrocities that should be considered gross personal incompetence worthy of dishonorable discharge at best, and horrific war crimes at worst.

Since we aren't going to go anywhere we might as well stop this disscussion, before it gets too long.

Well, then Riot better make the new lores even worth to make sense. Because I won't like it they won't make the effort to do anything good about it.

Even Poppy's new lore makes me cringe since it's less honorable than her old one.

FloRaider421 votes

As far as I am aware her old lore was: She was a blacksmiths daughter and while transporting a helmet to Demacia her father was slain by Noxians, after which she went to Demacia to deliver the hammer and become a champion. And her new one is: After witnessing the beginnings of Demacia and getting entrusted a special hammer she now wanders the lands to search for the Hero of Demacia, which is hinted to be her, putting her in a very morally ambigous situation (accept the destiny/refuse the call/find a chosen one).

Kinda favoring the new one to be honest.

JayHog19921 votes

The old one gave Galio his lore along with having Bandle City allied with Demacia because she was the ambassador.

Now not only Galio's lore make no sense, but she even insults her own kind, which honestly, it's ridiculous...

Like I said, at least the earlier one was more honorable and even the yordles would look up to her after what she's been through.

FloRaider421 votes

Well it ultimatly comes down to personal preference anyway so there is that.

JayHog19921 votes

Shame, I just keep hoping that the yordles get better lores than they have. Maybe Teemo not being accused of PTSD when he looks fine. Maybe Veigar could be more than just a guy who wants to be the master of evil, or Rumble being more than just some stubborn guy that rivals Teemo and Heimer.

If not, at least I would be happy if they did an event with the yordles like they did with Bilgewater. Where we could get a new gamemode and stuff.
