Champion Mastery Borders

Just curious as to why champion mastery borders were removed. I liked seeing the old borders based on levels 4,5,6,7. Even if it wasn't on my own champ, I liked seeing when my teammates or even players on the opposing team had high mastery levels on their champs. You used to want to grind certain characters to get their S rank tokens and level up their mastery. It was something to work towards. Now I feel like it's not worth it to play a champion over and over in dozens of games just to get a little border in your champion collection that only you will see. I think they should bring it back as it brought a level of of respect to you if you had the blue border on your champ in the loading screen and everyone saw it before your game. I know that this was removed a while ago but I'd like to see it put back in the game.
