[Champion Concept]: Zaratha, Priestess of the Oasis
I would like to enter the CCOS contest, so here is my link of a review I left: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/QwmmAHAa-kulkal-speaker-of-the-elements-champion-concept?comment=0000
EDIT: I have made some changes, which you can see bolded within the ability, with the old information crossed out, excepting for the new lore, which I have removed entirely in favor of the new one.
Quick Summary Zaratha is a Shuriman Ascendant. She is based around the Egyptian Goddess Bastet, who was a protector. Bastet is a catlike humanoid. Zaratha would look more like Azir than Nasus or Renekton in terms of form, but with catlike features. This is to prevent Zaratha from resembling a female Rengar. Zaratha is intended to be a support champion. I wanted her to be attractive to Lux, Morgana, and Karma players but with more utility. Please note that while I did my best to write a lore that falls in line with the other Shuriman champions by referencing their stories beforehand, but I do not consider myself to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Improvements to my story are greatly appreciated. The same applies to the champion concept. Now, on to the fun part!
Base Stats Health: 530 (+72/level) Health Regen: 5.5 (+.06/level). Attack Damage: 50 (+2/level) Attack Speed: .625 (+2.95%/level) Movement Speed: 330 Armor: 28 (+3.8/level) Magic Resist: 30 (+.05/level) Mana: 377 (+29/level) Mana regen: 2.3
Abilities Passive: Mana Oasis: Bind with a target ally. Bound targets within range of Zaratha gain bonus % Mana Regen equal to hers. Zaratha cannot bind with targets who don’t have mana. Each level placed into Zaratha's ultimate ability allows her to bind with an additional target.
Range: 1000
Zaratha's passive is intended to help her allies' sustain, but I did not want it to become oppressive early on. By level 16, she will be able to bind with all of her allies (provided they all use mana). I imagine binding will happen much like Kindred chooses her victim, but Zaratha will not be able to pick a new target once bound until she ranks up her ultimate.
Q: Holy Fire: Costs 55/60/65/70/75 Mana. Throw a ball of holy fire dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+80% AP) damage. If it hits an enemy champion, it explodes, creating a zone lasting for 5 seconds that slows nearby enemies by 35% and increases healing and shields received by allies by 20%. **grants Zaratha 20% bonus Shield and Heal Power.
**
Cooldown: 11 seconds Range: 1175
Note: ONLY the damage scales with her ability power. The slow and boost to shields is set. The radius of the zone would be equivalent to Lux E.
W: Ascetic Curse: Costs 65 Mana. Sacrifice 20/35/50/65/80 health to curse an enemy. Deals 35/70/105/140/175(+30% Ability Power) damage. The curse has a different effect for how much current health she has after casting. Below 50% Stun an enemy for .6/.9/1.2/1.5/1.8 seconds Above 50% Ground an enemy for 1/1.2/1.4/1.6 /1.8 seconds
Cooldown: 20/18/16/14/12 Range: 650
You have to keep an eye on Zaratha's health. This ability does do more damage than it costs, but you also need to be aware you're playing around your health for the crowd control.
E: Hymnal: Costs 60/70/80/90/100 Store up to two charges of Hymnal. Casting Hymnal shields an ally for 60/85/110/135/160 (+30% Ability Power). Can be cast again within 4 seconds at 50% mana cost. Casting a second charge on the same ally heals the target for the amount remaining on the first shield.
Gain a charge every 18/16/14/12/10 seconds (scales down with CDR) Range: 800
Hymnal has a large amount of damage reduction potential with two charges of shield or a heal, but you have to be mindful that if you try casting it on your ally when they have 15 remaining on the first shield, you're spending 60 mana to heal for 15 damage. To get a heal out of hymnal, you're spending a lot of mana early. This is to prevent her heal from becoming too oppressive early on. Zaratha is meant to sustain, but she's meant to be a mindful sustainer.
R: Heart of the Desert: R: Heart of the Desert: Passive: Allow her to bind her passive with an additional 1/2/3 targets. Costs 100% of current mana, at a minimum cost of 100/130/160. Cleanse the ally target of all debuffs and heal them for the amount of mana consumed (minimum heal 100/130/160).
Cooldown: 120/100/80 seconds Range: 1000
Yes, Zaratha can cleanse Zed ult. But you're essentially removing yourself from the fight by doing so. Her ult is meant to be a sort of "saving grace"-- your ally won't die but your utility becomes limited to staying in range for her passive. Since Zaratha should be building mana regen, she might be able to throw another shield or a curse out, but using her ult makes her vulnerable.
LORE: Zaratha was born to a noble Shuriman family Her parents served as representatives for the emperor, traveling to satellite cities and nomadic villages to bring supplies and aid. The true reason behind these visits was to scout for and quash any signs of rebellion across Shurima. While Zaratha was brought along, she never knew the clandestine side of her parents, only the outwardly altruistic care they showed for Shurimans. As beautiful as she was generous, she quickly earned herself the nickname "Little Oasis" from the people they would visit.
Zaratha's deep empathy and compassion for Shurima made her parents proud, but they knew she would never be able to follow in their footsteps. The Sun Priests showed an interest in the young girl, and adopted her into the order. At her insistence, however, the priestess-in-training continued to travel and share resources when she could. After a particularly harsh period of sandstorms and drought, Zaratha heard news of a birth within a small tribe a distance out of the city. This child symbolized hope for the villagers, but his mother's weakness left both of their lives in jeopardy. Zaratha departed at once for the village.
In her hurry, Zaratha did not notice when the winds picked up speed and the sands began to swirl around her. She had believed herself to be on the right track, but before long her surroundings seemed foreign. How long she wandered is a mystery whispered in the sands, but she finally took shelter in a dilapidated temple. Therein, she was drawn to a book of ancient magic. The tome contained no words that Zaratha could read, but her lips were drawn to song, and as she sang a strange power filled her. She suddenly felt as if her strength and energy was tangible to her, as if she could give it freely. And she could feel, like a distant ache, the strength of her tribe's child fading. She followed that feeling out of the temple and back into the desert.
When she found the people waiting, despairing for her aid, she took no rest. Immediately she used her new power to restore mother and child. But Zaratha had no strength left to give. She collapsed and left the tribe with no option. Zaratha had never stopped for herself or sought rest when work was to be done. Her people took that to heart and pushed on to get her back to the Sun Priests as quickly as they were able to. After hearing of the magic Zaratha had displayed in the village, the Priests decided that the same magic that had called to Zaratha in the temple might call for her Ascension, and they organized a ritual for her.
Zaratha's ascended form assures she has more than one life to give for Shurima. Where she finds pain and suffering, she stops to be a beacon, an oasis, of hope in the desert.
