My ideas for the re-implementation of Old Aatrox.

Let me preface this by saying that i have no enmity for the new iteration of AatroxAatrox . I think he is perfectly fine as a champion, and is fun to play. But he doesn't do the thing reworks are supposed to, and that is to preserve the original feel of the champion, keep their moveset relatively similar, but also make them more viable in the meta. New Aatrox is completely different in playstyle and also thematically. Old Aatrox was an auto-attack based diver who would sustain his way through any fight and come out on top. New Aatrox stands a at a distance in order to hit his CC, the uses his ult to tank for the team. Old Aatrox's personality was calmer and more refined, whereas New Aatrox is brutal, and partially insane from being locked in the blade for so long. They do't have many similarities between them, other than their names and the fact they are both supposed to be sustain fighters. For me, New Aatrox doesn't capture the right feel as Old Aatrox.

So I decided to make this post, to offer some of my ideas as to some sort of way Old Aatrox could re-appear. Most likely it would be as a new champion, most likely a Darkin, since Old Aatrox's kit doesn't match with any other group (maybe a Noxian or a Demon?).

The idea I had for his passive, Blood Well, was that it can also be filled off normal auto attacks, but is constantly draining, but drains slower the more enemies are around him. When above 80% Blood Well, he gains AD, Attack Speed, and a small move speed buff.

For his Q, Dark Flight, My idea is that he can charge it up to gain more effects. Without any charge it does not reach as far and the knock-up circle is much smaller. However, as you charge it up the range increases, and so does the knock-up circle inside of it.

His W, Blood Thirst/Blood Price, I feel did not need much changing, other than some different visual effects.

His E, Blades of Torment, should retain their old hitbox, but also have a new effect. instead of just disappearing at the end of the skill shot, they come back to you and either would apply another slow, or a hard CC effect on the enemy, which would help set up his Q.

For his R, Massacre, he deals damage in an area around him, gains increased Attack Range, a move speed buff, and increased Attack Speed, which scales off the health of his enemies, more health = less of a buff, less health = more of a buff.

If a new character is made that uses parts of Old Aatrox's kit I feel their personality should also be similar to his, with a calm demeanor and respect towards his enemies. Also the whipsword should be their main weapon, as it was iconic, and their is no other weapon in League like it.

I know that it is most likely Old Aatrox will never fully come back into League, as his place has already been taken. But if their is going to be a new champion based off of him, I hope these ideas will help.

The problem with old Aatrox is his entire gameplay loop is dive in and auto attack, dive out and run, dive back in and auto attack.

If old Aatrox's kit is going to come back his W has to go. Riot does not want champion's who simply auto attack and win or lose and keep losing, like we saw with old Aatrox.

The only part of old Aatrox's kit I can see them reusing in his Q, and mostly as the standard E dash on a marksmen.
