RIOT, Listen to my Words! Xl
RIOT, please... I know that what I'm about to say will either make many people mad, or happy. Since I haven't seen any threads about this yet, I decided to take it upon myself...
Why, I ask, would you guys put CS Thresh on sale in the marketplace, but not CS Riven? Just thinking out loud here, mind you... Now, I do realize you gave the lucky fans who were fortunate enough to attend Worlds a CS Skin Bundle (Riven, Thresh, and Shyvana). But that being said, and I know I am not the only one who will think this, but what about everybody else back in NA, EU, or wherever else players may be? Why can't they be able to get the opportunity to get these skins? I mean, most of us can't afford to go across the world to watch Worlds, because frankly, the money tree hasn't been growing too well for most of us. And for those who could make it to Worlds, kudos and congratulations, I hope you never forget your experience there. Now, back on track. I would just like to quickly touch base on the fact that people sell skin codes online for TONS of dough, and frankly, RIOT could make serious money if they took a hint and started selling those skins that are unavailable once in a while, since some of those classics are in REALLY high demand. Also, again talking about people selling these codes on eBay or what-not, those codes are going for upwards of $400, the highest I've seen was in the $600s mind you. That being said, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that RIOT would make a TON of money.
Let's just do some math for a moment: We will use CS Riven as our ie champ.
I have about 60 friends on my LoL account, and I'll admit it, don't know some of them. That being said, however, I do try to chat with all of them if I get a moment, and I have asked most of my friends, probably 50 or more of them, what they think about RIOT not putting skins like CS Riven (For example) back up for grabs, and by up for grabs, I mean up for grabs like how CS Thresh currently is: available to EVERYBODY.
Back to my math again:
So, i have about 60 friends, for arguments sake lets say I talked to 50. Now, I asked all of the people I talked to what they would do if CS Riven (again for example, I also talked about other unavailable skins, but for arguments sake, lets stick to CS Riven) came on sale briefly, even for a day!
now, 39 of the people I talked to would "hands down" go for the skin, if it was available for a decent amount of time, because not all of them have RP on the go. Of those same 50 people, 30 of them said that if it was to be re-released for even one day, ONE day, that they would set time aside, go get RP, and get their hands on the skin.
So, with all this being said, along with the crazy prices I've seen for this item on eBay, riot would make quite a bit of cash (30x400=$12,000 or 39x400=$15,600 NOT in RIOT's pocket (And those are just my friends, try the other couple million players out there)). Not only would they be making money though; they would also be contributing to their own goal of having people stop purchasing the skins (and potentially getting ripped off) online, spending unreasonable amounts of money, because think about it, would you spend $400 on a skin code that could work, maybe, not 100% sure that its legit or not? OR, would you go down to Best Buy, drop $20 on some RP, and get yourself the skin of your dreams?
Anyways, this is just my thoughts, I already have come to peace with the fact that RIOT won't probably see this, much less listen if they did, so I'm over it if nothing comes of this. Just wanted to put a voice out there for people to know what some of us thought.
