First, some background for any who may have missed it (skip to the second paragraph if you're already familiar with Ascended/Darkin Lore). Riot recently updated the Lore of the Darkin. As of this update, the Darkin were previously Ascended; to make a long story short, eventually all surviving Ascended except Nasus became corrupted by power and/or the influence of the Void. They enslaved various factions of humanity, and went to war amongst themselves, which wreaked devastation on the world. Humans eventually became understandably fed up with this, and (with the help of Targonians and Celestial Aspects) killed most of the Ascended and bound the rest into magical Weapons. These Magical Weapons are the current Darkin; for all currently-confirmed Darkin champions, they spent the following millennia growing bitter and resentful, and as a result are incredibly malevolent.

My idea takes a Darkin Character in a different direction. I think it would be interesting to explore a character who was one of the Ascended bound into a weapon and is initially resentful about the betrayal, like the current Darkin champions. However, unlike the current champions, after some time imprisoned, this Darkin recognizes that he/she was actually in the wrong, and decides that, if ever released, he/she will work for the betterment and defense of humanity as a form of penance. As a direct result, whenever this Darkin bonds with a human body, he/she forms a willing symbiotic bond with the host, rather than the forceful possession the other Darkin utilize.

Darkins are the arrogance of a god and the malice of the Void. The human side of the Darkin died when they were placed in the weapon. The ritual forces the corruption of the Void and the immortal Ascended power into their heart of their original bodies, and then ripping out their heart, causing the host to turn back into a human and die, saving their soul.

From what it looks like, the last 2 Darkin are going to be either Naganeka, Valeeva, or Cebotaru, or a combination of them fused into a single weapon that is divided between Kayle and Morgana.

And Ta'anari, the Darkin inside of Sivir's crossblade.
