She has an extremely unique playstyle, where all her abilities can ignore cooldowns at increased energy cost. She otherwise plays like an AD assassin. Her early game is somewhat weak, while her late game is very strong.

Red regenerates an additional Energy based on her Cooldown Reduction. This makes going from 0 to 200 take 20 seconds or less as if it was a spell modified by cdr. The formula is 200/(20(1-Cdr))-10=E, where E is additional energy per second. (cooldown at every 5% cdr: 0%: +0 / 5%: +0.526 / 10%: +1.111 / 15%: +1.764 / 20%: +2.5 / 25%: +3.333 / 30%: +4.285 / 35%: + 5.384 / 40%: +6.666 / 45%: +8.181). Red cannot gain bonus energy regeneration from other sources, such as blue buff.

After Red casts a basic ability she gains a stacks of Transistor Blade (max 3). Auto attacking an enemy consumes a stack of Transistor Blade, and restores 20 Energy. Transistor Blade stacks fall off individually, 5 seconds after being gained.

Crash() resets Red’s basic attack timer. ######Bonus damage to monsters?

Dealing (10/50/80/120/160) + (1.15 Total AD) Physical Damage to all enemies hit, slowing them by 60%, that fades over 1.5 seconds, and marks them for 1.5 seconds. If the enemy team has vision of Red, they can see the targeted line at cast.

If Q - Crash() hits a marked enemy, it is stunned for 1 second, and it takes an additional (0.4 Total AD) Physical Damage. This effect can only be applied once to an enemy every 8 seconds.

Red cannot move or cast Jaunt for 0.25 seconds after using this ability (reduced to 0.175 during Turn()). Jaunt() resets Red’s auto attack timer.

At Rank 3, Red’s basic abilities no longer go on cooldown.

Active: For 5 seconds, Red’s basic abilities cast times are reduced by 30%. She also gains (15/22.5/30)% Movement Speed, and (80/110/140) Additional Energy (exceeds her Energy Cap, any unused additional energy disappears at the end of the effect).

Lore (warning: Spoilers for Transistor)

The Transistor was struck through Sybil’s stomach, and she went limp. Her soul began leaving this world, but found only the Transistor.

“That’s one down, three to go.”

The Transistors familiar voice ringed through Red’s ears. The revenge felt bittersweet. She never wanted to kill a human, but she had already made her choice.

“Sybil was the Cameratas eyes and ears, we can use her to track the rest.”

Red began walking down the stage, where she had fought Sybil. She had once sung here, but now the stage was empty and silent.

“We’ll be back someday, Red.”

The Camerata had hunted people like Red, brought them into the transistor, to use them. Influential people all over Piltover had disappeared, their souls chained inside the transistor.

After a concert, on this very stage, the Camerata had approached Red, believing her to be alone. She wasn’t though. She was with her lover, so things got messy. Her lover stood in front of her, protecting her, as the Transistor impaled him. His soul trapped inside it with the rest of the Cameratas victims. Red escaped with the transistor, but the Camerata managed to take something else from Red in exchange.

“Hey, Red? They took your voice, but now we’ve taken something of theirs too.”

Strengths and Weaknesses: Red starts out weak in the early game, and becomes stronger towards the mid to late game. A lot of her power lies in her ult, and her passive. Red has to be careful with spamming abilities, as she can spam her Q or W to a point where she cannot cast her E, aka her escape. When Red is low on energy she is tons weaker than when she has a lot of energy. During her laning phase, her flexibility is a lot lower than during late. She lacks sustain, but her base hp5 is decent.

Design Goals, Choices and Fantasy: Red was designed as a transformation of the main character from the game Transistor (Red), to being a champion in league of legends. The design then evolved into a fully fledged concept. Her Q, W and E were taken more or less directly from Transistor, and R is a soft simulation of the Turn() mechanic from the game. The core ability of her kit is her passive, which creates a very unique playstyle for Red, and gives her some of the highest flexibility on how to use her abilities in league. At level 16 (Turn() rank 3), Red has no basic cooldowns, except with her energy, which makes her ‘flexibility’ fantasy even more prominent. One inherent problem with the kit, is that skill ranks may have a large effect on which ability to use, more so than other champions. To mitigate this, her abilities have a large portion of Total AD deciding the damage, making her damage correlate more to her level rather than skill rank. The additional Energy cost for abilities on cd, before level 16 also helps to make sure she doesn’t just use the same ability all the time. The stun on W + Q also helps to encourage the use of at least 1 W and 1 Q. The energy regain on auto attacks from her passive, was added to counteract her spamming E for escaping, and to space out her damage more. Her kit makes her really good at ganking, but whether she has enough sustain to jungle, I don’t know. Perhaps adding bonus damage to monsters on her Q would help.

Quotes The Transistor speaks most of the voicelines, in the voice of Logan Cunningham. When he speaks, the Transistor lights up, matching his volume. Red is voiced by Kristin Wilson, and does not speak (as she is mute), other than humming, giggles or ‘grunts’ when attacking.
