Reverting Akali: Why I Disagree
So Riot has confirmed they are reverting akali. Sometime around June is the ETA. They are going back to a "balanced" version of her previous kit, but also... her skins. I personally love every single one of her new skins. Each and every one is superior to her previous skins *in my opinion.*Did her skins not sell well?? Or were all of the Akali players already in possession of the skins? We all know KDA & Prestige Akali sold well so what's the deal? What will happen to these skins as well as her Infernal skin?
I understand high elo Akali players want her old kit back, as well as pro players wanting her current kit out of the meta. I think a champion with the current toolbox is hard to balance. Does nobody remember Orianna? Riot had to reduce her price from 6300 to 4800 to try and get people to play her. They reworked and edited/adjusted her kit so many times. Then Orianna was god. Literally pick or ban for YEARS. Not a single split. YEARS. Look at Ryze! I mean, why is Riot abandoning Akali?? Her model and animations are gorgeous. Brilliant and stunning. Viewership has been at an all time high with Akali and Irelia circulating the game state.
What I am saying is, I want Riot to stick with the current Akali. Rework abilities if you have to, give her the Azir/Ryze/Karthus/Irelia treatment if you have to. Akali is one of the best modern iterations of champion tech Riot has created. I don't think Akali solely responsible as the issue in 2019. I think 10 years of basic point and click, low mobility, low tech champions are.
Akali and Irelia are currently my two favorite champions and honestly I love the direction of champion technology going forward.
This is my soft plea to adjust, nerf and balance the current iteration of Akali for as long as you have to and NOT revert Akali.
